Chapter 299 Seeking Help from Multiple Sources

The eldest child called his father, Li Huai's, office.

Li Huai was looking at some documents when the phone rang. When he heard it was his son calling, he immediately asked the operator to transfer him to the phone.

"Big brother, what's wrong?" His son almost never called him; even if something happened, it was his wife who contacted him. He became a little nervous.

"Dad, something happened at Mom's shop, she went to the police station."

"What!" Li Huai jumped to his feet.

"That's what Auntie said, Dad, what do you think we should do now?" After explaining what had happened, the eldest child asked.

Thankfully, his wife was unharmed, and Li Huai breathed a sigh of relief. "I understand. Don't worry, you and your younger siblings stay home and don't wander off. I'll handle this."

"Okay, Dad, it's all up to you now."

After the call ended, Li Huai muttered "brat" and quickly found his notebook to look up the phone number and make the call.

As soon as he finished the call, he summoned the attendant.

"Come on, come with me."

He explained the situation to his supervisor and asked for leave. Then he and his orderly drove to the region.

Cheng Tao also arrived at the government office.

He had visited his father's workplace before, so the people at the entrance remembered him.

He said he came to see his father, and he was let in without even having to register.

Cheng Tao remembered where his father's office was and went straight there.

However, when he arrived, Mr. Cheng was not in his office, but in a meeting room.

Even though Cheng Tao had something to discuss with his father, he didn't dare to disturb the meeting and could only wait outside before coming in.

Someone came in and whispered a few words in Cheng's father's ear.

When Mr. Cheng heard that his son had come looking for him, he was somewhat surprised, but he did not stop the meeting. He simply told the son to be brought to his office and wait.

Although the meeting did not stop, Mr. Cheng's speaking speed increased.

After the meeting ended, he hurried to his office.

As soon as he went in, he saw his son wandering around.

"Dad, you've finally finished your meeting."

"Why did you suddenly come here?"

"Dad, there's something I need your help with."

"What is it?" Mr. Cheng frowned.

"Yan Sen, you still remember him, right?"

"Of course I remember, you're practically living at their house, how could I not remember?" Mr. Cheng said with a laugh. "Wait, did he need my help for something?"

Mr. Cheng immediately became serious. His son was never this inconsiderate. He rarely mentioned that he was his father in public, and he would never ask him for help on behalf of others.

Seeing his father's expression, Cheng Tao knew what was going on and quickly said, "Dad, do you want to hear me out first?"

"Okay, go ahead." Mr. Cheng sat down on the sofa.

“Aunt Zhao’s shop ran into trouble today… Dad, those people were obviously doing it on purpose. How could Aunt Zhao’s shop have such problems? I’ve been to the shop myself. Don’t you hate these bullies the most?”

"Kid, you're trying to provoke me now." Mr. Cheng chuckled.

But thinking about what his son had said, his expression turned solemn again. "Is everything you said true?"

“Dad, of course it’s true. The auntie in the shop told Yansen herself. She wouldn’t lie to Yansen, would she? The auntie doesn’t even know whose son I am.”

"You're even putting me down now. Okay, I got it. Go back now. I'll keep an eye on this."

Cheng Tao became worried. "Dad, you can't just keep watching, you have to help. Aunt Zhao is such a kind person."

"Alright, Cheng Tao, I'm letting you go back."

Seeing his father's displeasure, Cheng Tao wisely shut up, knowing that once his father made a decision, no one could change it.

However, as soon as he left the office, Mr. Cheng immediately called his secretary in.

"Go call the police station and quietly inquire whether they've arrested anyone..."

"Yes, Secretary, I'll take care of it right away."

Cheng Tao and Da Wa met at home and each told the other about their situation and how they needed help.

“My dad said he would handle this.”

"Yan Sen, I'm sorry. My dad said he would keep an eye on this, but I don't know if he will help Aunt Zhao," Cheng Tao said with some guilt.

"Alright, I'm already very happy that you're willing to help."

"That's right, Brother Cheng Tao, you're so loyal. From now on, you're my brother too," Erwa said proudly.

"Haha, you said it yourself." Cheng Tao laughed.

"Brother, are we really just going to stay home and not care about anything?" Xiao Duo was still a little worried.

“We’ve done what we were supposed to do. Let the adults handle the rest. We just shouldn’t cause any trouble,” the eldest child said calmly.

After he spoke, Erwa, Xiaoduo, and the others stopped saying anything.

What they didn't know was that the eldest child was anxious and hated himself for not being strong enough, only able to watch his mother get stuck at the police station without being able to help her.

However, as the eldest brother, he had to stay calm, otherwise his younger siblings would panic even more.

With his parents not around, he is the pillar of the family.

After the deputy director's brother-in-law became impatient several times, a military vehicle pulled up outside the police station.

Four people got off the car.

Sun Shengli was in the lead, followed by Zhou Jingsheng and two soldiers.

As soon as four soldiers in military uniforms walked in menacingly, everyone in the bureau looked over.

"Comrade, who are you looking for?" a policeman stepped forward and greeted him.

Hearing the commotion outside, Zhao Qinglan glanced over and stood up, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Look, they're here."

When Sister Wen saw that it was Sun Shengli who had brought people, she became happy.

However, the deputy director's brother-in-law looked rather grim.

He was unruly, but not entirely stupid; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to the main store instead of causing trouble at the Junminhe New Store.

"Commander Sun, we're here," Zhao Qinglan called out.

Sun Shengli immediately led his men over.

"Who arrested him?"

Someone noticed the situation was not good and immediately went to make a phone call to report it.

Although most of the people present did not recognize Sun Shengli, no one dared to underestimate him just by looking at his military rank.

However, some people did recognize Sun Shengli. Many of the officers in the Public Security Bureau were demobilized soldiers, and some of them happened to be acquainted with him.

"Commander Sun, what brings you here?"

"I didn't want to come, but some of you arrested our military personnel and won't release them, so I had no choice but to come." His words were full of dissatisfaction and sarcasm.

The police officers immediately turned their attention to the deputy director's brother-in-law.

In fact, this person has only been here for a few days, but has been causing trouble all the time, which has already aroused the dissatisfaction of many people.

He grabbed Sister Wen and, seeing that he hadn't done anything to her, everyone decided to mind their own business and didn't interfere.

After all, this brother-in-law has a deputy director standing behind him, and most importantly, no one knows why Sister Wen was arrested.

But now that they know Sister Wen is a military dependent, many people's attitudes have changed, and they even look at her brother-in-law with displeasure.

Being stared at by so many people, especially by Sun Shengli and his group, the brother-in-law became somewhat frightened and developed resentment towards Zhao Qinglan.

You filthy woman, how dare you scheme against me!
