The secretary felt she had discovered a tremendous secret, but she dared not share it with anyone.
The reason she became Xie Yunyun's confidante was not only because of her abilities, but most importantly because of her loyalty and her tight-lipped nature.
This really frustrated her; she was just hoping that her boss, Mr. Xie, would take the initiative to talk to her about the famous Professor Li someday.
Sanwa returned from a business trip abroad, bringing back some things for his niece and also remembering to bring a gift for his mother, who hadn't asked for anything. As for the others, he didn't care what they did.
Over the years, Li Huaiyou has long been used to the fact that in front of his children, with his wife around, he always has to take a backseat.
Coincidentally, his wife always comes first.
Since everyone agrees, let's just accept it without complaining.
Sanwa has never been a talkative person, and he would never tell his parents about the little incident that happened abroad.
Once a project was completed and the workload eased up a bit, he still went to work and came home as usual, rarely going anywhere else.
A few days later, the children finished their final exams and started their summer vacation. Jing'er finally came from Shanghai to join her older brother and sister.
Jing'er was always envious and jealous of her older siblings who were always talking about what they were doing.
To make chatting easier, the three siblings created a QQ group, which only included the three of them.
The adults in their families don't restrict their internet use. As long as they complete their homework on time, their grades won't be affected, and they can play as much as they want outside of their rest time.
And now, with the advent of smartphones, chatting on QQ on a mobile phone is much more convenient.
They still prefer to meet and play at their grandmother's (maternal grandmother's) place.
Although Ji Rou and Xiao Duo's parents are quite open-minded, the children still feel more comfortable with Zhao Qinglan, which may also be due to the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
The older Li Huai gets, the more he enjoys a lively atmosphere at home.
He now has another hobby: playing chess with the old guys in the courtyard.
When everyone gets together, they inevitably talk about their own descendants. Li Huai, for one, feels that he is never afraid of this topic; he is an invincible general.
When he was first transferred to Beijing, he was still the deputy chief of the General Staff. Now the "deputy" title has been dropped. However, he is not young anymore. He is 63 years old now. Once he turns 60, he pays special attention to maintaining his health.
He was already five years older than his wife, and she always looked much younger than her actual age. He didn't want people to misunderstand them as being of different generations when they went out together.
Jin'er and her friends often lived in the compound, so they were quite familiar with other children of similar age in the compound, and some of them even went to the same school.
Since the eldest, second, and youngest children don't live in this compound, and the third child is focused on scientific research and doesn't like socializing, other families who want to build a good relationship with them can only start with the younger children, like Jin'er.
Children from the compound are mostly precocious and more cunning than ordinary people.
Li Huai's status also meant that Jin'er and the others would not be easily bullied or looked down upon. As a result, the children always had a very pleasant time in the compound and indeed had a few like-minded friends.
Jin'er never expected that her girlfriends would ask her to be a matchmaker, especially for her own third uncle.
"Jin'er, I really think my cousin and your third uncle are a perfect match. You don't want your third uncle to be alone forever, do you? Please help him out."
Jin'er was speechless. Her third uncle was single, and the whole family had accepted it. They didn't feel sorry for him; at least she thought he was quite content.
She felt a little embarrassed about playing matchmaker.
The two girls then started discussing their cousin's qualifications.
She is 27 years old, a graduate of a prestigious university, currently working at a university in Beijing, very quiet, with a dignified and elegant appearance, and comes from a scholarly family.
The overall conditions seemed really good, but Jin'er had no choice but to say she would give it a try.
She spoke to Xingxing and Jing'er first.
"Uncle isn't planning on finding a partner, sister, don't make things worse," Xingxing reminded her.
The younger Jing'er immediately offered an idea. "Sister, ask Grandma. Uncle wouldn't dare disobey Grandma's orders."
Yes, that's a good way to shift the blame.
Watching her granddaughter flitting around her, pouring water and peeling fruit to please her, Zhao Qinglan raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you being so attentive? Tell me, what do you want from Grandma again?"
"Grandma, you have such a discerning eye. You truly are the smartest person in our family."
"You've learned to flatter quite well at such a young age," Zhao Qinglan said with a smile.
Jin'er immediately sat down and mentioned the cousin her friend had introduced.
"The conditions are indeed quite good."
"Right, Grandma? I still have the photos they sent you." She quickly held them up as a treasure.
Zhao Qinglan glanced at it.
"I'll mention it to your third uncle, whether he sees it or not is none of my business."
Jin'er beamed. "Grandma, you're the best."
If her third uncle disappears, it's not her fault. She'll only help him this once, and won't do it again.
When Sanwa heard the news from his mother, he refused without hesitation.
"No need to meet, I'm not interested."
"If you don't want to see me, then don't. Um, Sanwa, if you have any needs, um, don't hold back, it's bad for your health."
Sanwa paused for a moment before realizing what his mother was referring to, and his face turned bright red.
"Mom, what are you saying?"
Seeing her son flee in panic, Zhao Qinglan laughed without any embarrassment.
It was because she accidentally saw the paper in her son's trash can.
She didn't know that it was just a piece of paper that Sanwa had accidentally spilled milk on and was used to wipe the table.
Jin'er breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that her third uncle didn't plan to meet anyone. However, when she told her best friend, the friend asked doubtfully, "Jin'er, do you think your third uncle might like... well, men?"
