Chapter 32 Uncle Yan hired a child laborer
Shao Muyan told Yu Yan a few amusing stories about his nephew.
He didn't say much, just a few words, but he successfully piqued Yu Yan's interest.
He said the child was extremely smart and beautiful, but not very talkative and had a slight speech impediment. However, he was a very warm-hearted and sensible child, and his sister felt an instant connection with him.
They went to the welfare home three times in one day and went through many procedures before finally bringing the child home.
The Shao family initially strongly opposed the adoption, even holding a family meeting over the child. Shao Muyan's uncle slammed his fist on the table in anger, "You're only in your thirties and you're already adopting a boy? Will you ever get married?"
"I never planned to get married in the first place."
Shao Min stood up against her entire family on her own, and sneered, "I'm a woman, I don't need to carry on the Shao family line, do I? If you're worried about what others will say, then let Ayan help me take care of the children."
Shao Muyan nodded: "Okay."
"Don't make things worse!" Uncle Shao glared at Shao Muyan again.
At the family meeting, Shao Muyan rarely expressed his opinion, but he still sided with his sister, saying, "The child is good. Why don't you meet him first and then decide whether you agree or not?"
Surprisingly, the whole family fell silent on the first day Shao Min brought Shao Yun home.
Uncle Shao stared at the child, his eyes wide, and pulled Shao Min aside to question her: "Tell me the truth, this child really wasn't born to you and some other man?"
Shao Min was speechless. "If that were really the case, would I need to go through all this trouble?"
"..."
When Yu Yan saw Shao Yun's photo on Shao Muyan's phone, she understood why the Shao family was so surprised.
Because they look so alike.
The child's eyebrows and eyes looked exactly like Shao Min's, especially the charm and brilliance emanating from his big eyes. No one would believe he wasn't a child of the Shao family.
"Are you the one leading him now?" Yu Yan looked at Shao Muyan.
Shao Muyan shook his head gently, "I don't have time to take care of the child. My sister is always flying all over the country, so whoever in the family is free takes care of the child. Most of the time, it's my uncle and aunt who take care of the child, and they spoil them terribly."
Yu Yan couldn't help but laugh. People are emotional beings; after spending a long time together, feelings are bound to develop.
After chatting for a while, Shao Muyan went all out to help Yu Yan and used a hairdryer to dry her hair.
Blow-drying hair is not quite the same as washing hair. Yu Yan lowered her head and felt the hot air flowing between her hair ends, and some random thoughts couldn't help but pop into her mind.
She thought: Even when they were married, Xiang Jingheng, as her husband, never did this to her.
Then I thought: Uncle Yan is so caring, how come he's been single for so many years... I'll do for her what I didn't do for his girlfriend, I can't let his future girlfriend know...
The more I think about it, the more sentimental I feel.
The more I think about it, the more embarrassed I get.
You can blow-dry someone's hair, but you can't help them wash it, since men and women are different.
Shao Muyan transferred a nanny from the Shao family to his home, and even specially found one who was about the same age as Yu Yan, so as not to make her feel awkward.
These past few days, when Shao Muyan wasn't home during the day, the nanny came to take care of Yu Yan, cleaning, cooking, and bathing her.
Yu Yan will have to work from home for a while longer, but it's much more convenient than when she was in the hospital. Team meetings can also be held at home, since it's close to Shangzhou University anyway.
Just after lunch, Yu Yan sat on the sofa and typed on her laptop keyboard with two fingers.
Her reattached finger bones still ached slightly, and all ten fingers were still wrapped in gauze. It was indeed painful after using them for a long time every day, but she couldn't stop writing her thesis, and writing by hand was even more strenuous.
When the phone rang, she was sweating profusely, shaking her fingers as she answered, "Uncle Yan."
As soon as Yu Yan opened her mouth, Shao Muyan could tell that something was wrong with her voice.
"What's wrong? Does your hand hurt again?"
"It's nothing," Yu Yan said casually. "I used too much today, so it hurts. I'll be fine after a rest."
Shao Muyan paused for a moment and then said, "I'll send someone to take your place."
"ah?"
In the afternoon, when Yu Yan saw the little tail following Shao Muyan, she was completely stunned.
He thought to himself: This isn't a hand double, this is child labor.
