Chapter 27 Yu Yan Never Owes You Anything
When Yu Yan fainted, she saw Shao Muyan, and when she woke up, the first thing she saw was Uncle Yan.
This gave her a feeling of a "perfect closed loop".
It's so comfortable for someone with OCD.
What's more, with such a stunningly beautiful face, Yu Yan's first thought upon opening her eyes was—it's so good to be alive.
The second sensation was pain.
"Yu Yan!"
As soon as Yu Yan opened her eyes, Shao Muyan got up and practically sprang to the bedside, his eyes full of concern, "How are you? Do you want some water? No rush, tell me slowly..."
Her throat was incredibly dry, so Yu Yan said "water," and a glass of warm water with a straw was handed to her lips.
After taking two breaths, her throat felt moistened, and Yu Yan sighed, finally feeling alive again.
She looked at Shao Muyan, wondering how long he had been there. His face was pale and sallow, his eyes were bloodshot, and he looked exhausted.
Professor Shao, who is usually so clean and always presentable in any situation, had a bluish tinge on his chin and looked rather haggard.
"Uncle Yan," Yu Yan's voice was hoarse, "how long have I been asleep?"
Shao Muyan looked at her intently.
She watched as his throat tightened, and after a long while, he finally managed to utter a sound that was even more hoarse than hers: "Two days and one night."
...I slept for two days and one night, and that was so long.
This was probably the longest sleep she had had in the past three years.
"Have you been awake all this time?" Yu Yan looked at Shao Muyan with a guilty expression.
Since she came back, all sorts of troubles, big and small, have been constant. It's one thing for her to cause trouble herself, but Uncle Yan has also been causing trouble along with her.
What gives them the right?
Shao Muyan saw through her thoughts and smiled gently at her, "I'm not a robot, I'll naturally go to sleep when I'm tired. Don't worry about me. How are you feeling now?"
Yu Yan felt it for a moment and honestly said, "It hurts."
"So you still feel pain?"
Shao Muyan looked helpless. "You broke your own finger bones, so I'll assume you don't feel pain."
He spoke casually, but his knuckles were clenched so tightly they turned white.
He felt the excruciating pain in his fingers.
Yu Yan explained, "The first blow was from when I was trying to untie the rope. My thumb had been broken before, so it was easy to bend and didn't hurt much. The second blow was from when they forced me to leave my handprint."
Thinking of those bastards, Yu Yan's expression remained as cold as ice.
“If a finger bone is broken, the palm print will be incomplete. Even if they force me to leave the palm print, the contract will not be valid.”
Yu Yan was already quite adept at dealing with those people, after all, it wasn't the first time.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect... but she really hopes that this kind of awful thing won't happen again.
What's more, this time they even kidnapped Xiao Chu!
"How is Xiang Chu?" Yu Yan's face tensed up when she mentioned her son, completely losing the composure she had when talking about herself.
He propped up half of his body.
The pain aggravated her injuries, causing her vision to blur and almost making her faint again.
Shao Muyan quickly helped her up, frowning as he said, "Don't move around, you still need to recover from your injury."
"Xiang Chu is fine, her fever has subsided. This kidnapping incident made the news, and the Gan and Xiang families were quite frightened. They gave Gan Xiaoxing and Xiang Chu full-body checkups, and I inquired and found that they were unharmed."
Shao Muyan looked at Yu Yan calmly, "The one who was hurt the most is you."
Hearing that Xiang Chu was alright, Yu Yan's anxious heart finally relaxed.
“Those people were originally targeting me; Xiao Chu and Gan Xiaoxing were both implicated because of me.”
Yu Yan turned her head slightly and asked, "Have they all been caught?"
"The monkey ran away."
Seeing Yu Yan frown, Shao Muyan stood by the bed and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, no matter where he is, as long as he is alive, I will find him and make him pay the price."
"The monkey is not scary; he's just a pawn."
Yu Yan frowned slightly. "The real troublemakers are the people behind the scenes."
Shao Muyan naturally knew who was eyeing Yu Yan's patent, and they were indeed difficult to deal with, unless...
A hint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes, but it vanished in an instant.
“By the way, Uncle Yan,” Yu Yan said, “I have something I need to trouble you with.”
Shao Muyan nodded. "Go ahead."
Yu Yan moved her lips, "In order to get Xiao Chu and Gan Xiaoxing to leave, I negotiated with the kidnappers, and they extorted five million from Xiang Jingheng. I have to return this money to him."
When Xiang Jingheng was mentioned, Shao Muyan's expression darkened slightly, but he didn't say much, only saying "okay".
Do as Yu Yan wishes.
"Sleep a little longer, don't think about anything. Just clear your mind here." Shao Muyan raised his finger and touched Yu Yan's forehead.
Yu Yan felt the warm touch on her forehead, as if it had been firmly pressed onto her heart.
She obediently closed her eyes and soon fell into a deep sleep again.
After she fell asleep peacefully, Shao Muyan adjusted her IV drip, asked his assistant to keep an eye on her, and then went into the bathroom of the special care ward to wash his face and tidy himself up.
For two days and one night, Shao Muyan stayed by Yu Yan's side without leaving her side, and for the first time, he stepped out of the ward.
To his great surprise, Xiang Jingheng also stayed at the hospital and did not leave.
How is Yu Yan?
Xiang Jingheng also looked very haggard, much like the person Shao Muyan had seen in the mirror earlier.
But Shao Muyan didn't want to empathize with him, and simply said, "He woke up, then fell asleep again."
He handed the check to Xiang Jingheng.
Xiang Jingheng stared blankly at the five million check, then asked, "What does this mean?"
"Yu Yan asked me to give this to you."
Shao Muyan's voice was cold: "Let bygones be bygones. Xiang Jingheng, Yu Yan owes you nothing."
Xiang Jingheng's face suddenly turned pale.
