Chapter 312 Mixed Doubles

Shi Fangfang sneered, her voice as sharp as a needle chilled to the bone, piercing one's eardrums.

“If my husband were his age, he would have been chopping firewood in the mountains and planting rice seedlings in the fields long ago!”

"And him? He's a petty thief and troublemaker, and you spoil him like a treasure!"

She pointed at Tang Jiang, who was cowering behind Zhang Weiguo, spitting as she spoke: "If you want to spoil your own son, I can't stop you, since it's your money! But now that your house is burned down, are you still protecting him?"

"Get out of my way! If you can't bear to discipline this brat, then let me teach this brat a lesson!"

Shi Fangfang shoved her forward, and Shen Xiang, who was already off balance, fell heavily onto the frozen ground with a "thud".

Her tailbone felt like it had been hit by a blunt object; the pain made her vision go black, and tears welled up instantly, streaming down her frostbitten cheeks.

Seeing that things were not going well, Tang Jiang slipped away from Zhang Weiguo's legs like an eel and ran out of the yard.

But Shi Fangfang was prepared. She grabbed his coat collar and pulled him back like a chick, then slammed him to the ground with a "thud".

There was a feather duster standing in the corner, which Li Dahong used to use to beat the children. Shi Fangfang picked it up and started hitting Tang Jiang with it, and all the feathers on the duster flew off.

"You played with fire! You caused trouble! Today I'll beat you to death, you good-for-nothing!"

"Aaaaaah! Help! Mom! Godfather!"

Tang Jiang rolled on the ground, wailing. Tears mixed with the black ash on his face, making him look like a little kitten that had been thrown into a mud pit. The back of his cotton-padded jacket was torn open from being whipped.

Zhang Weimin was furious. He rolled up his sleeves and rushed forward, kicking Tang Jiang in the butt: "I'll teach you to be a bad person! I'll teach you to burn down your house! Let's see if you dare to do it again!"

The couple used a duster to hit the naughty child and a kick to give him a double beating.

The neighbors around watched with amusement, but no one stepped forward to offer any advice.

Li Dahong used to protect Tang Jiang, scolding anyone who tried to persuade him. Now it's their turn to watch the show.

"This kid should have been disciplined long ago! If we don't take care of him, he'll definitely end up in jail!"

"Pah! Good for him! Who told this brat to always bully my Gou Dan!"

"He even stole my corn! He deserves a beating! Now that that damned Li Dahong isn't around, let's see who can protect him!"

Shen Xiang watched as her son was beaten and curled up in a ball, barely able to cry anymore, and her heart felt like it was being squeezed tightly.

Ignoring the pain in her tailbone, she scrambled over and shielded Tang Jiang with her back. A feather duster smacked her cotton-padded coat with a "smack."

I can feel the pain even through the thick cotton!

"Stop hitting him, Brother Weimin, Sister Fangfang, stop hitting him! If you keep hitting him, Jiang'er will really die!"

Her final maternal instincts kicked in, and Shen Xiang hugged Tang Jiang tightly, crying and pleading incessantly.

Even when faced with Zhang Weimin and his wife, two hungry wolves with bloodshot eyes, they dared not let go.

Otherwise, I'm really afraid my precious son will get seriously injured!

"Brother, sister-in-law, let's just forget about it."

Zhang Weiguo finally spoke, looking at Tang Jiang hiding in Shen Xiang's arms, his sobs barely audible, trembling like a leaf in the autumn wind.

"If something goes wrong at this critical juncture, it will be even more troublesome."

Shi Fangfang glared at Zhang Weiguo, then turned to Shen Xiang, slamming the feather duster in her hand onto the ground.

"Shen Xiang, let me tell you, you're the one who's going to pay someone to do the renovations of the kitchen and Qingqing's room! Keep an eye on your son!"

“If this kind of thing happens again, and you can’t bring yourself to hit him, I’ll do it for you! I’ll beat him until he doesn’t dare to do it again!”

She stepped forward, spitting on Shen Xiang's face: "Don't tell me you have no money!"

"The money you've saved from working over the years hasn't cost the Zhang family much, and your husband has received a considerable amount of compensation. I know all this perfectly well!"

Shi Fangfang glared at Zhang Weiguo again: "Second Uncle of the child, don't interfere in this matter! The sins committed by the mother and son are their own responsibility!"

If I find out that Zhang Weiguo feels sorry for this mother and child and is giving them money, I'll beat up this second uncle too!

That's so illogical! It's infuriating!

Shen Xiang held Tang Jiang, who was trembling like a leaf, in her arms, her nails digging deeply into her palms—

Renovating the kitchen and rooms will cost at least tens of dollars.

Paying this money is really painful.

Seeing the wounds on her son's body and the relentless determination of Shi Fangfang and her accomplices, Shen Xiang could only grit her teeth and nod, "I...I understand..."

Tang Jiang stirred in her arms, sobbing softly, his voice hoarse as if rubbed with sandpaper: "Mom...it hurts..."

Shen Xiang's heart melted instantly. She gently patted his back, tears falling onto his ashen face: "Mom's here... It doesn't hurt anymore..."

Ye Nian'an raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes.

This was the first time Shi Fangfang had said something that resonated so deeply with Ye Nian'an.

Sure enough, everything is fine as long as the knife doesn't cut your own flesh.

Even sisters can turn against each other when it comes to real interests.

In their past life, Shi Fangfang and Shen Xiang were so close they could share a pair of cotton pants. They would go to the department store arm in arm every day, and they were more affectionate than anyone else when it came to scrambling for imported face cream.

Because Tang Jiang burned down the kitchen, he got a beating, and the grudge was completely severed. From now on, they'll probably have to avoid each other when they meet.

Shi Fangfang glared at the crowd watching the commotion outside the courtyard gate and shouted at the top of her lungs, "What are you looking at! Stop looking! Get out of here! Get out of here!"

As he spoke, he stepped forward and used a feather duster to shoo people away.

"Pah! If we hadn't been carrying buckets of water and desperately trying to put out the fire, it would have already spread to Aunt Wang's house next door. Now you're complaining that we're in the way?"

"That's right! We're already being generous by not even asking for half a foot of cloth as a thank you gift. This daughter-in-law is too arrogant. I should have told you to burn everything to the ground!"
