Chapter 134 Unrestrained

The sun was obscured by clouds, dusk settled into a hazy twilight, and a light drizzle began to fall from the sky.

Song Qingyou held up an oil-paper umbrella, looking like someone who had stepped out of a painting, unrealistically beautiful.

Bai Li was momentarily stunned by what he saw.

He stepped forward, intending to reach out and take her hand, but Song Qingyou subtly avoided him, saying, "Brother Li, I can manage on my own."

Bai Li casually withdrew his hand, as if he had never touched her, and asked in a deep voice, "Is something wrong?"

Upon entering the inner room, Song Qingyou folded her umbrella and placed it on the edge of the door frame. Rainwater soaked the hem of her clothes, but she glanced down at it without paying much attention. "Well, there's something I'd like to ask you for a favor."

Bai Li's eyes were deep; ten years of military service had hardened even his facial features. He turned around, poured a glass of hot water, and handed it to her: "Go ahead."

Song Qingyou and Bai Li had known each other since childhood and had a close relationship. Naturally, she wouldn't engage in the usual pretense and said directly, "Fu Wenzhou injured someone, and the other person is now lying in the emergency room in critical condition. The police will most likely determine it as excessive self-defense. Although I've dealt with the Song family's surveillance footage, if Chen Chuan wakes up, he will definitely identify Fu Wenzhou as the one who injured someone a second time. So I'd like to ask you..."

"You want me to get rid of Chen Chuan for you?" Bai Li gave her a deep look: "Qingyou, I am a soldier."

Song Qingyou: "..."

Bai Li said, "I can do anything for you, even things related to that person, but this is the one thing I can't do. I'm sorry."

Song Qingyou rubbed her temples and chuckled, "Brother Li, even if I wanted to kill Chen Chuan, I wouldn't do it through you."

Bai Li was taken aback: "Then?"

Song Qingyou said, "Isn't Chen Chuan's younger brother in jail? I'd like to ask you to help transfer him to your prison. Chen Chuan is very worried about his brother. If we hold his brother's life in our hands, he naturally won't say a word."

Bai Li frowned: "What he probably wants is money, so why not just give it to him directly? That would be much simpler."

Song Qingyou, with her delicate features, smiled faintly and said, "I don't want to give it."

He hurt Fu Wenzhou, how could she possibly give him money so he could live a life of ease for the rest of his life?

Chen Chuan likes to threaten people, doesn't he? Well then, she'll give him a taste of his own medicine and threaten him with his brother's life, making him live in constant fear of being manipulated.

Bai Li assumed it was because of the recent crisis at the Song family that she was reluctant to spend the money. So he nodded and agreed, "Okay, I'll have someone take care of it tomorrow."

"Thank you." Song Qingyou took out a stack of documents from her bag: "These are the transfer documents for the house in Haidong. Take a look and if there are no problems, go find Uncle Chang to process the transfer."

Bai Li frowned, feeling the object in his hand burning hot: "What do you mean?"

"Hmm," Song Qingyou said softly, "consider it a thank you gift."

Bai Li paused, a bitter smile playing on his lips, "Will you and Fu Wenzhou be like this too?"

"What?" The wind was too strong outside, and Song Qingyou didn't hear clearly.

Bai Li put away the documents: "It's nothing. Would you like to stay for dinner?"

Song Qingyou shook her head: "No, Fu Wenzhou is still at the police station, I have to go pick him up."

Bai Li's eyes darkened as he glanced at the sky outside: "It's raining."

He remembered that Song Qingyou didn't like rainy days.

A long time ago, on the day Bai Li went to join the army, he planned to meet Song Qingyou, but it rained that day.

Song Qingyou said she didn't like going out on rainy days, so Bai Li waited at the station for a long time that day but the person he was waiting for never came.

Bai Li watched with a deep gaze as Song Qingyou's figure receded further and further into the rain.

She gave a self-deprecating smile.

What he really wanted to ask was, "Would you be like this with Fu Wenzhou? Would you be so calculating with him? Would you be so polite?"

I'm afraid of owing friends something when they help me, so I have to reciprocate to feel at ease.

Song Qingyou treats everyone the same way, so Bai Li really wants to know if she treats Fu Wenzhou the same way.

But this question is destined to remain unanswered, because he will not ask it aloud, and Song Qingyou may not be able to answer it either.

The rain outside suddenly intensified, turning into a deafening roar, as if the sky had been cracked open with countless fissures.

The dense raindrops dispersed the hustle and bustle of the city.

The car sped along, but Song Chang wasn't there, so Song Qingyou had to drive herself.

She's had her driver's license for a long time, but she doesn't drive much because of her heart condition.

Song Qingyou drove into the Municipal Bureau. By this time, the rain was already quite heavy. Her oil-paper umbrella was blown askew by the wind, and the rain soaked the half of her exposed shoulder.

The police officers, seeing her arrive, didn't dare to neglect her and immediately led her inside with an umbrella.

Fu Wenzhou was dressed in all black, wearing military boots, with a cold and hard brow bone, exuding an unruly aura.

He sat casually in the chair with his legs crossed, his bandaged hand resting loosely on his long leg, and his other hand holding a half-smoked cigarette.

"Fu Wenzhou," Song Qingyou called softly.

Fu Wenzhou paused, then quickly stubbed out his cigarette and threw it into the nearby trash can.

Then he stood up, and that unrestrained, lazy and carefree demeanor disappeared. It was as if he had suddenly become a different person. All his thorns were retracted into his shell, leaving only his soft belly exposed for his master to stroke.

He walked up to Song Qingyou in a few steps and stopped, pulling her into his arms. He said in a slightly aggrieved voice, "Why are you only coming now? I've been waiting for you for two hours."

Song Qingyou pursed her lips slightly. She had gone to Bai Li's place and then rushed to the police station, which had taken her more than an hour just to get there.

"Taking a statement so quickly?" she asked.

Fu Wenzhou buried his head in the crook of her neck, his voice sounding somewhat muffled: "Yeah, I just asked a few questions."

In fact, it wasn't that fast. These police officers wished they could accuse him of intentional assault, but they couldn't say it outright because of his status. They flattered him while subtly trying to extract information from him.

Fu Wenzhou was too lazy to deal with it, so he threw a tantrum, and the group released him.

However, if Chen Chuan identifies himself after he wakes up, this matter will probably not be so easy to handle.

However, these things were never within Fu Wenzhou's consideration. The only thing that could make his mind linger and that was worth his attention was Song Qingyou.

He was like a huge Tibetan mastiff, always clinging to his owner, holding on tightly as if the two of them were one.

Song Qingyou's eyelids twitched. This was a police station, and so many people were watching. Couldn't this person behave himself?!

Fu Wenzhou had no intention of restraining himself. He was so intoxicated by the fresh scent emanating from Song Qingyou that he only snapped back to reality when his fingertips touched something damp.

Seeing that Song Qingyou's shoulder and sleeve were half wet, Fu Wenzhou frowned deeply and carefully wiped away the remaining water stains with his sleeve.

After realizing that it wasn't clean enough, he reached out to take off Song Qingyou's coat and put his own clothes on her.

The movements were fluid and effortless, as if no one else was around.

Fu Wenzhou draped the clothes that Song Qingyou had taken off over his arm. "Let's go home."

Song Qingyou nodded, then glanced at his hand: "Does it hurt?"

Fu Wenzhou smiled and said, "It doesn't hurt."

Song Qingyou took his uninjured hand and walked out with him side by side.
