Chapter 36 Singing at midnight and hitting people

Thinking she had won, Liu Xiatian blinked and fell asleep. She vaguely felt a warm breath on her ear, which tickled, and just as she was about to scratch it...

Suddenly, a woman's high-pitched voice rang in my ears: "Sailing the seas depends on the helmsman, all things grow by the sun, and rain and dew nourish the seedlings..."

What happened to the rice seedlings? Unable to remember the lyrics, Ruan Xianxian scratched her head and shook Liu Xiatian, who was completely bewildered and hadn't quite caught up in the moment.

"What's wrong with the seedlings? Help me figure it out!"

summer?

Say something!

Are you not talking because you don't want to?

As the ringing in her ears subsided and her brain finally came to its senses, Liu Xiatian rolled over and pounced on Ruan Xianxian, yelling, "Ruan! Are you out of your mind?"

What kind of song is that in the middle of the night? Are you just bored and have nothing better to do?

Ruan Xianxian kicked the person to the ground, then sat up innocently, shrugging helplessly at everyone in the dormitory who were glaring at her.

"I told you on the day I arrived! I'm used to sleeping in high places. If I don't sleep in high places, I'll choose where to sit, and when I choose where to sit, I'll start singing involuntarily."

Everyone: ? ? ?

They wanted to fight but couldn't, so they could only cover their heads tightly with their blankets, only to be brought to tears by the smell of their own blankets within two minutes.

Liu Xiatian finally faced the truth, hugged her blanket, and went to sleep on the floor without saying a word.

Then her left hand became gentle. She smiled softly and said, "Comrade Wen, while I can still hold back, go to sleep. Sleep for as long as you can."

Wenrou is too scared to sleep; Wenrou wants to kill someone!

But how could she possibly endure the exhaustion of the day?

Just as she fell asleep, someone leaned close to her ear and said in a very firm tone, "When spring comes and the azaleas bloom all over the mountains, your father and the others should be back."

Then a hesitant, melodious tune drifted into my ears: "In the dead of night, I long for tomorrow~"

Wenrou: "Ah! Ahhh! A ghost!"

Wenrou, Wang Meili, and Cai Shufen huddled together, trembling, their eyes fixed on Ruan Xianxian, who was lying on her side on the bed, flirting with them by shaking her sleeves.

Cai Shufen was about to cry, "Could she be possessed by a ghost?"

"Nonsense!" Wang Meili rebuked.

Cai Shufen got anxious, "If she's not possessed by a ghost, then go over and tell her to shut up. You could even go next door and find a boy!"

But if they were to get out of bed, they would inevitably have to pass over Ruan Xianxian's head. If the three of them made the slightest movement, she would stare straight at them and start singing a song in a traditional opera style.

Every two hours, they'll invite three people to sing together, and if they don't sing, they'll beat them up!

The three women were tortured to the point of wishing they were dead, their souls scattered, and their resentment was heavier than that of ghosts.

Finally, as the sky began to lighten, Ruan Xianxian collapsed onto the bed with a thud and started snoring softly in the blink of an eye.

Wang Meili: "Is she asleep?"

Tsai Shu-fen: "That guy is finally gone!"

She gently pursed her lips. "This can't go on. She has to leave the dormitory."

If she can't stay in the dorms, where else can she stay?

Wenrou suddenly looked up, her gaze seemingly piercing through the wall to the backyard, where there stood an abandoned storage shed.

“Do you remember the person who died from massive bleeding inside a few years ago? Tell the captain to let her move to that room. This dormitory is for me, not her.”

The work horn sounded, and Ruan Xianxian stretched comfortably. Wenrou, with dark circles under her eyes, stood before her bed, head bowed.

Why were you singing in the middle of the night last night?

Ruan Xianxian pretended to be shy, "Actually, I don't know either. My family told me that I sing in the middle of the night. The doctor said that I am prone to having a relapse when I am nervous and I will do unexpected things."

"For example?" Chen Zhaodi asked curiously.

"I smashed up the house." Ruan Xianxian pursed her lips, her face slightly pale. "Before I went to the countryside, my cousin and her fiancé kept provoking me. In a fit of anger, I had a breakdown and smashed up the house."

Everyone gasped. From her words and body language, they could tell she wasn't lying; she really had wrecked the house.

While washing up, the boys in the dormitory heard that Ruan Xianxian had been singing all night, not only singing by herself but also pulling others to sing with her, and they all gave her strange looks.

I was secretly relieved that this girl was a girl and didn't live in the boys' dormitory.

Ruan Xianxian had meat buns for breakfast, Mu Xia had eggs, and Chen Zhaodi had leftover corn and multigrain pancakes from last night.

Despite eating different foods, they all wore the same happy smiles.

Chen Zhaodi said, "Before, I would get up early at home and make breakfast for the whole family before 6:30. My younger brother would eat eggs, and my parents would drink porridge."

If there's any leftover vegetable soup from last night, I can mix it with water and drink it; otherwise, I guess I'm out of luck.

Mu Xia also recalled the past, "I had no time to work. I would eat whenever I finished my work. Maybe I would eat three meals a day, or maybe I would go hungry for three days and then go hungry for nine meals."

Ruan Xianxian and Chen Zhaodi looked at her large frame at the same time, casting suspicious glances at her.

The second bugle call sounded, and the three of them went out fully armed. Today was Ruan Xianxian's first day of work since she went to the countryside, but she had no expectations at all.

The first bugle call wakes you up, and the second bugle call means it's time to go out to work.

When the three arrived, Wenrou and the others had arrived first and were speaking to the captain with indignant expressions.

He waved to the Red Army soldier, signaling her to come over.

The scorekeeper, Xiang Nuan, was also the daughter of the brigade leader. She nodded slightly to Xiang Nuan, indicating that she should go first and that the farm tools had been left for her.

"Little Ruan! I heard you not only sang in the middle of the night but also hit people? You didn't remember anything I said yesterday!"

Ruan Xianxian nervously clenched the hem of her clothes. "This, I really didn't mean to. The doctor said that when I'm stimulated, I'll have violent tendencies along with my illness."

"They told you to move out on your own, but you refused. They're moving out as a group. What are you going to say about that?" Xiang Hongjun, a veteran of ten years, couldn't tell if the kid was faking it or not.

If someone were truly ill, would their family allow a girl with a mental illness to go to the countryside alone?
