A huge yellow croaker, by sheer bad luck, landed on Xiao Zhou's head and then jumped into his arms. He grinned and chuckled foolishly.
"Father, it's raining fish."
Old Zhou inexplicably recalled Ruan Xianxian's last words before parting: "You will definitely return with a full load."
All around me were the villagers' joyful shouts, "So many big fish! I've been fishing for so many years, and I've never seen such big pomfret before!"
Old Zhou bowed repeatedly in the direction Ruan Xianxian had left, saying, "Your Majesty, thank you. May everything go smoothly for you, and may you have a safe journey."
...
Ruan Xianxian dismissed the crew members who showed curiosity towards her and followed Mu Xia into the cabin.
"So, have you sorted out everything at home?"
Mu Xia smiled, "Yeah, they're all dead."
She stopped talking and began to observe the warship, which was equipped with anti-ship missiles, two triple missile launchers, and four twin-barreled naval guns.
She couldn't help but exclaim, "Old Qian has really lent out a national treasure!"
"Oh? You know?" A group of people walked out of the cabin door. The leader was a white-haired old man who looked to be around sixty years old and had a vigorous gait.
Behind him followed the regimental commander and guards, whom he had met once on the deck.
Mu Xia introduced the two, "This is Colonel Ye, the highest-ranking commander of the 051 South Ship on this mission."
Ye Pengde extended his hand, "Comrade Ruan, hello."
Ruan Xianxian quickly put down her chopsticks and extended her hand, "Hello, Colonel Ye."
God knows she'd been in the fishing village for almost half a month, eating fish, shrimp, and crab every day until she felt like throwing up.
When she first saw the fish and shrimp served in a basin and that she could eat as much as she wanted, she was overjoyed. In just three days, she felt like she was completely marinated in seafood.
Even his burps had a fishy smell.
In the fishing village, it's practically a sin to want a proper meal; even if you manage to get some dumplings, they're usually filled with mackerel.
It's delicious, but eating too much of it can be really annoying.
She devoured the steamed buns and pickled vegetables on the warship with great relish.
Ye Pengde gestured for her to continue eating, explaining that he was only there to give her some instructions.
"The South China Sea Fleet departed at 9:00 AM this morning and is expected to enter international waters in about an hour. We have a large target and a clear objective. I am here to tell you to be ready for battle at any time."
Ruan Xianxian swallowed the last bite of food. "How are Gong Ye and the others? Any news?"
"Yes." Ye Pengde, who knew the whole plan, nodded.
"We have already made contact with them. Once the island nation where the two sides are engaged in combat sends reinforcements, Miyano and the others will take the opportunity to board the ship and come to meet us."
We won't linger in battle; we'll pick up the people and leave.
Ruan Xianxian's heart sank little by little. With the war breaking out on the high seas, Miyano and others would need to board the island nation's support ship. It seemed easy, but who knew that the island nation was not stupid and would not relax its screening?
Even though the group possessed special abilities, wasn't Jiuju still eager to try them out?
Seemingly sensing her unease, Ye Pengde comforted her, "Don't worry, island nations can't use heavy weapons against our people on their own territory, but it's a different story on the high seas."
Therefore, in order to keep those people on board, the island nation would turn a blind eye and let them board the ships; they were safe before entering international waters.
How could Ruan Xianxian not be worried?
"After entering international waters, how long will it take to meet them?"
Ye Pengde: "We'll meet in international waters as early as midnight, or as late as tomorrow morning, but at the latest by noon tomorrow."
Ruan Xianxian pursed her lips and stood up, but Ye Pengde pulled her back, asking, "Where are you going?"
"Go rescue them." They were being too naive. What if the island nation opened fire on Miyano's ship as soon as they set sail, when the two sides met and exchanged fire in international waters?
What if we can't get backup?
Given the importance of Miyano and others to China, the island nation would absolutely be capable of inflicting heavy losses on both sides, and decided to destroy the warship carrying Miyano and others in advance as a precaution.
She couldn't wait for the island nation to send people to her so she could have another satisfying showdown.
"Don't rush, let me finish what I have to say." Ye Pengde pressed her shoulder with a serious expression and pushed her back into her seat, even stuffing a steamed bun into her hand.
"We've considered everything you can think of. That's a key reason why we're using this as our tool for going abroad."
"If the ships that are being sailed on this voyage are the old warships that Russia sold to our country, they will act as you expect, and take action against Miyano and his men as soon as they leave the high seas."
But we are sailing our own warships.
The political factors involved are obvious to you without me having to elaborate. The island nation will not pass up this good opportunity to annihilate our warships and destroy our national beliefs.
Nine Chrysanthemums might, but they can't make the final decision; there's more than one voice in an island nation.
Compared to inflicting a thousand casualties, suffering eight hundred dead, or killing a few, those freakish dwarfs were more focused on crippling national strength.
Ye Pengde paused at this point, a shrewd and calculating look appearing on his face.
"And have you forgotten who occupied the island nation?"
Ruan Xianxian raised an eyebrow, "The United States?"
Ye Pengde smiled, his eyes showing appreciation, and explained, "Since the 600,000 US troops were stationed in the island nation, they have controlled major cities and strategic points."
Do you think that in warfare, especially naval warfare, island nations still have the final say?
They're just a bunch of spineless dogs groveling at the feet of the United States.
Cough cough—!
The guard behind the old man coughed heavily as the leaves fell.
What are they saying? Their colonel really has no taste for anything, saying whatever he wants in front of that young comrade!
Ye Pengde gave an awkward smile, coughed twice, and changed the subject.
"Boarding the island nation's warship is just one way to leave the island nation and enter the high seas. Our people will then transfer to the US warship to lie in wait."
The island nation has gone mad; they'd rather commit mass suicide than fire a shot at their godfather.
