Chapter 5: A chamber pot hung on the handlebars, a bell tied to the back seat.

"You beast!" Her father, enraged and ashamed, slapped her again, roaring, "Ruan Xianxian, where did you learn such despicable behavior?"

This time, Ruan Xianxian didn't dodge. She grabbed the slap her father was about to deliver and said, "Calm down, I didn't mean to. Dad, why do you still have scratches on your hand?"

When was this done?

Meeting the old man's suspicious gaze, Ruan Tai shoved her away and hid his hands behind his back.

God knows how I got this injury? It was there when I woke up this morning!

His face turned red and then purple. He changed the subject and said with a stern face, "Apologize to your aunt and Baozhu. You're not allowed to go anywhere today."

"That won't do." Xianxian bent down to change her shoes. "I'm going to report it to the police. Grandpa hasn't given me the five hundred yuan he promised yesterday."

You've only lost money, but your disheveled aunt has lost her innocence!

"That thief has some nerve, daring to break into the military compound! If he's an enemy agent, wouldn't Grandpa be in danger?"

The old man's gaze was gloomy. He glanced at his second son, who was dressed inappropriately and whose expression had changed slightly as he put his hands behind his back. Ruan Xianxian's words reminded him of something.

This is a military compound; who would dare? Who has the ability to come in and steal anything?

Unless... there's a traitor inside!

But he still commanded in a deep voice, "Why did you call the police! Who told you to call the police? My Ruan family can't afford to lose face like this. Come back!"

The embarrassment is a minor issue; the real problem is that the amount of lost property cannot be reported, and the police might notice something amiss and make a big fuss about it!

Considering all these factors and with suspicions about the target, he decided not to report it to the police!

Seeing the old man's expression of "painful but not seriously injured," Ruan Xianxian said "oh" and turned her palm up.

"What about the money you promised me? Give it to me, I need to go out and buy supplies for the countryside."

Faced with her expression that said, "If you don't give me money, I'll call the police," the extremely aggrieved old man took out the last five hundred yuan in the family's savings.

The words were squeezed out through clenched teeth, "Very good, you really are my good granddaughter!"

As Xianxian stepped out of the courtyard, she heard a fierce battle erupt in her home. The sound of shattering dishes, her scumbag father's cries of injustice, and her aunt's sobs blended into a beautiful symphony.

She said it herself! Anyone who doesn't like her can go to her parents!

Unwilling to give up, Ruan Baozhu chased after them, shouting, "Tonight is Grandpa's birthday, cousin, don't come back too late and miss Grandpa's birthday."

“Please come in!” Ruan Xianxian replied loudly, “I’ll be back after I pick up the gift for Grandpa.”

Several heads peeked out from around them. Ruan Baozhu withdrew the resentment from her face and pretended to be aggrieved. Why didn't that little bitch fall for it?

Just wait, she'll definitely get the money back and send that bitch to the harshest place in the Great Northern Wilderness, where she'll be worked to death in the summer and frozen to death in the winter.

Money was secondary. Thinking of the dream she had experienced again last night, Ruan Baozhu revealed her determination. She wanted the university spot, and she also wanted the jade pendant around that little bitch's neck!

Riding an abandoned bicycle, Ruan Xianxian grabbed her uncle's money before he could react.

They went to the black market behind the hospital and knocked on the door of a nurse.

The person who opened the door was a thuggish-looking young man.

Looking at this strange woman who left a deep impression on everyone, whose entire head was wrapped in a scarf, with only her eyes showing.

The young man couldn't help but laugh. "Ah Hua, you're here. I went to great lengths to find what you wanted yesterday. Come in and let's talk!"

Ruan Ahua Xianxian followed the young man into the room. An old man with droopy eyebrows and droopy eyes was squatting against the wall, brewing medicine, without even glancing at her.

Pushing open the door, you see Fifth Master Qin sitting by the stove, a walnut twirling in his hand, with a pot of hot tea warming on it.

He first asked Ruan Xianxian to sit down, then picked up the teapot and took a sip, gesturing for the young man to bring the things the woman wanted.

The young man carried out a basket and placed it at Ruan Xianxian's feet. He used a stick to pry open the straw covering it, revealing a glass jar filled with yellow liquid.

Upon seeing that thing, Fifth Master Qin unconsciously leaned back, his gaze shifting to Ruan Xianxian, and he couldn't help but ask curiously:

"Girl, what do you need the urine of a hepatitis A patient for?"

"Fifth Master! You've crossed the line!" Ruan Xianxian said softly, a smile appearing in her eyes as she looked at the bottle of urine.

Qin Wuye chuckled and leaned back in his chair. Yesterday, this little girl with her head covered came up and asked for the urine of a hepatitis A patient, which gave him quite a fright.

Having worked in the industry for ten years, he had never heard of such an outrageous request.

They were all ready to kick the person out, but the woman was offering too much!

Out of curiosity, I asked one more question.

He suppressed his curiosity and gestured for the young man to bring out another item. "I've found the antique clock you wanted. See if it suits your taste."

Ruan Xianxian was eight feet away from the large clock whose dial emitted a fluorescent glow. She had heard that foreigners used to add radium to the pigments when making clock dials.

Radium, however, has extremely high radiation levels.

Radiation doesn't matter; the important thing is that today is Grandpa's birthday, and she must offer her heartfelt wishes and blessings to her elder!

"Comrade," Qin Wuye leaned forward, looking at the clock, and said, "Don't blame me for not warning you, this thing is a bit strange."

The kid who gave it to me said that all its previous owners were dead.

"It's good that he's dead!" Meeting Qin Wuye's shocked gaze, Ruan Xianxian quickly changed her words, "I mean, my friend likes old objects with stories behind them."

Master Qin withdrew his gaze and clicked his tongue inwardly. These days, everyone wants to find a bargain. The sellers are fools, but the buyers aren't fools either!

He uncovered a piece of coarse cloth beside him, "And here's the safety buckle you wanted. We don't have fakes; fakes are more valuable than real jade. All the designs are here; you can choose one."

Ruan Xianxian nodded. Fake jade is indeed more expensive than real jade these days. Her cousin asked her for a jade pendant yesterday, but she hadn't planned to give it to her anyway.
