Jiang Xile rode her bicycle and slowly stopped in front of Liu Ziming.
Upon seeing Jiang Xile appear, a hint of warmth immediately appeared in Liu Ziming's originally cold eyes. All traces of the previous hostility vanished from his body, and he seemed to have instantly switched states.
"Have you been waiting long?"
"No, I just arrived too!"
Jiang Xile smiled and did not mention what had just happened. The two of them were currently in a state of being more than friends but less than lovers.
Jiang Xile doesn't reject Liu Ziming's approach, but she can't say she likes him that much either, since many of her peers are already married and have children.
In this day and age, it may be unrealistic to remain unmarried for life. Since one cannot stay single forever, it is not a bad idea to try getting to know someone.
Moreover, compared to others around her, Liu Ziming is undoubtedly outstanding in every aspect, whether it is family background, education, job or appearance.
Liu Ziming could guess some of Jiang Xile's thoughts, and he accepted them all with pleasure.
He knew that this was his only chance to get close to Jiang Xile. Even if it was just to make contact and see how things went, or even if he was always kept as a backup option, he would not have any complaints.
Perhaps even Liu Ziming himself doesn't know why he likes Jiang Xile so much. Every time he sees her, he feels that he has warmth again.
It seems that his entire life has been spent waiting for her to appear.
Stepping forward to take the bicycle from Jiang Xile, Liu Ziming said gently:
"A friend recommended a private restaurant, the kind that's not open to the public. Apparently, the food is pretty good, and the head chef's ancestors were imperial chefs."
"Oh? Really?"
"Of course it's true, but it's not open to the public. Only a few people with connections go there to patronize it, and it only serves a maximum of three tables a day!"
"Then let's..."
"Don't worry, I've already made plans. Since I told you, how could I let you down!"
Jiang Xile nodded and walked away with Liu Ziming.
At the intersection, Liu Fengping watched Liu Ziming and Jiang Xile leave together, feeling melancholy.
So she's got someone she likes now. No wonder she was so ruthless. But she's loyal, though!
Liu Fengping sighed for a while, and then returned home. She had finally met someone she liked, but alas, the goddess was willing, but the king had no dream!
On the other side, as soon as Zhu Guanying returned home, he saw a mess in the yard. Two hens in the coop were clucking incessantly because they were hungry, and the chicken droppings on the ground had attracted flies.
Not far away, the washing basin had overturned on the ground, leaving water stains all over the yard, along with dirty clothes that hadn't been washed yet.
"You little brat, you stop right there!"
"No, no! Grandma's a shrew, she'll eat people when she gets angry!"
Two children, one big and one small, ran wildly out of the house, followed by an old woman carrying a feather duster.
"Huff...huff...you two little rascals!"
The constant shouting and cursing from her mother-in-law only made Zhu Guanying more irritable.
"Dazhuang, Erzhuang!"
Zhu Guanying shouted angrily, and the two children immediately stopped, their faces full of fear as they looked at their mother.
"mom..."
"mom..."
The old lady went outside and saw her daughter-in-law who had just come home from get off work. Then she saw her two grandsons who were frightened like quails and felt a little sorry for them, so she quickly came over to protect them.
"Guanying's back! Come inside and rest! Kids will be kids! They can be a little naughty! Don't be angry!"
Don't let her angry reaction with the feather duster fool you; she wouldn't stand to watch her daughter-in-law discipline her grandson, and she'd probably feel terrible inside!
As the saying goes, the youngest son and the eldest grandson are the lifeblood of grandparents, and that's exactly how it is!
Zhu Guanying's husband is Zhang Yucheng, the eldest son of Zhang Laotai. Zhang Laotai gave birth to three sons and one daughter in her lifetime.
When Zhang Yucheng was ten years old, his father, Zhang Dongliang, passed away in the line of duty. His workplace provided a substantial amount of compensation and also arranged a job for Zhang's mother.
From then on, Old Mrs. Zhang raised her four children alone. It was because her eldest son looked very much like her husband who had died young that Old Mrs. Zhang always favored her eldest son.
Back when the Down to the Countryside Movement had just begun, Old Mrs. Zhang received advance notice and was afraid that her eldest son would be taken to the countryside.
So he hurriedly asked someone to pull strings, not only sacrificing his own job but also spending a lot of money, to get his eldest son, Zhang Yucheng, a job as a driver for a motorcade.
Then he quickly arranged a blind date for Zhang Yucheng. By the time the neighborhood committee notified him to go to the countryside, Zhang Yucheng had already gotten married and successfully escaped the quota for going to the countryside.
However, his two sons, who were only two or three years younger than Zhang Yucheng, did not receive such good treatment.
Even though Grandma Zhang had money, she was unwilling to use it all to buy jobs for her other two sons. If her sons didn't have this privilege, her daughters could forget about it.
As a result, Zhang Yucheng's two younger brothers and one younger sister all dropped out of school after completing junior high school.
Starting in the second year after Zhang Yucheng got married, his younger siblings also went to the countryside one by one.
Grandma Zhang didn't worry much about her two sons and one daughter who had gone to the countryside, except that her daughter-in-law became pregnant after her last daughter went to the countryside.
The following year, Grandma Zhang had her eldest grandson.
Two years later, Zhu Guanying gave birth to her second child. With her grandson, Grandma Zhang was content and no longer cared about anything else, spending her days just taking care of her grandson.
Grandma Zhang deserves a lot of credit for how naughty these two children are now.
Zhu Guanying is busy with work every day and doesn't spend much time with his children. Whenever he sees his children being naughty, he disciplines them severely. Over time, the two children have become somewhat afraid of Zhu Guanying.
