Chapter 45 Awkwardness

On a summer morning, the rosy dawn, like a shy maiden, slowly unveils the curtain of night, draping the earth in a light golden veil.

At first, the sky was only a faint pink, like peach blossoms in their first bloom, gentle and graceful.

Gradually, the pink deepened, spreading like the colors in a traditional Chinese ink painting, weaving together with the deep blue of the sky to create a breathtaking picture.

The sun had not yet fully risen above the horizon, only half of it peeking out, as if afraid its light would be too dazzling, cautiously peeking out.

But its light was enough to illuminate everything around it, coating everything with a golden halo.

The air was filled with a fresh scent, a blend of the fragrance of earth and the aroma of grass.

A gentle breeze blew by, bringing a touch of coolness and dispelling the sweltering heat of the night, making one feel refreshed.

The trees in the distance looked exceptionally tall and straight in the glow of the morning sun.

The leaves rustled gently in the breeze, like nature's awakening song at dawn.

The birds also began to wake up, hopping merrily on the branches and chirping sweetly, as if welcoming the arrival of a new day.

At 5:10, at the familiar time, the educated youth gradually got out of bed at the call of the songs.

Jiang Xile had already finished washing up and returned to her room. There wasn't much water left in the thermos, but it was enough to make a bowl of malted milk powder.

Accompanied by the aroma of malted milk powder, Jiang Xile devoured two braised eggs, a large meat bun, and a sausage.

I ate until I was about 70% full, and then I went out for a bowl of wild vegetable porridge later, which should be about enough.

Today, Zhu Yuefang and Bai Xiaoqin are on duty to cook, but their cooking skills are naturally not as good as Yang Hongmei and Yin Dongxue's.

So the vegetable porridge in the morning was barely edible, but fortunately the wild vegetables had been blanched and didn't have any strange taste.

After breakfast, just like yesterday, the whole group set off together to meet at the threshing ground.

Jiang Xile strolled along behind the group, occasionally glancing at the wildflowers and weeds around her, enjoying the rare tranquility.

"Jiang Zhiqing, can I go with you?"

A clear and crisp voice entered her ears. Jiang Xile turned her head and saw Qiu Wenbin standing next to her.

"Qiu Zhiqing? You... want to see me?"

Meeting Jiang Xile's gaze, Qiu Wenbin felt slightly shy, and his ears turned red involuntarily.

This behavior caught Jiang Xile's eye and immediately surprised her.

Could this be a bad romantic encounter for me?

“Jiang…Jiang Zhiqing…I want…I want…”

Seeing Jiang Xile looking at him, Qiu Wenbin felt even more embarrassed.

He's naturally a bit shy, and he only mustered up the courage to talk to me today after a whole night of internal struggle.

Now, he's started a conversation, but he can't seem to say anything more.

Jiang Xile looked at the shy young man in front of her, her heart pounding with excitement. The line ahead of them had already stretched for more than ten meters, so she couldn't help but urge him on:

"If there's anything I can help you with, Qiu, just say so. We're all revolutionary comrades, and I'll definitely help if I can!"

"I...I want to..."

Qiu Wenbin got stuck halfway through his sentence again. He wasn't worried, but Jiang Xile was getting anxious.

"What are you thinking? Tell me! If you don't, I'm leaving, or I'll be late!"

"I...I want...I want to become your disciple!"

"What?"

"Cough cough... cough cough..."

Unable to hold it in, Jiang Xile choked and coughed, vomiting a mouthful of saliva. Looking at the culprit, she demanded sharply:

"What did you say? You want to become my disciple?"

"Yes...yes!"

Now that he had already said it, Qiu Wenbin stubbornly held on, adopting a defiant attitude.

Jiang Xile's expression was complicated. Seeing Qiu Wenbin's shy and bashful appearance just now, she thought he was going to confess his feelings to her!

But it turned out they came to ask to become my apprentices!

That would be so awkward!

Fortunately, he didn't give himself away or say anything inappropriate.

"Why do you want to become my disciple? What do you want to learn from me?"

"Arguing with someone?"

"weeding?"

"Or a shoulder throw?"

After thinking it over, Jiang Xile realized that, overall, her performance at the educated youth settlement over the past two days was only barely commendable in these three aspects.

Of course, she was a latecomer at weeding and couldn't keep up with the older villagers.

"I...I want to learn kung fu from you!"

Qiu Wenbin gritted his teeth and shouted out all his thoughts.

Now it was Jiang Xile's turn to be stunned.

"What? You know kung fu? How did you get the idea that I know kung fu?"

Qiu Wenbin scratched his head, his face turning bright red.

“I heard people say that when you threw Duan Zhiqing, your movements were swift and ruthless. They said you might have learned kung fu and be a trained fighter, so I want to learn!”

"Well...."

Well, it was the over-the-shoulder throw that caused this trouble.

In those days, the master-apprentice relationship was unacceptable, especially in the educated youth settlements, which were crowded, chaotic, and sensitive places.

"I don't know any martial arts. They guessed wrong. I just learned some self-defense techniques because I was bullied a lot when I was a child."

If you want to learn, I can teach you, but it's not about formal apprenticeship; it's just about mutual learning and exchange. Understand?
