Chapter 148: His Identity
Mu Jingshen showed no intention of stopping. He walked closer, squatted down, and saw a corpse that was no longer recognizable as human!
The deceased was a man. His neck and head were only connected to his flesh by a layer of skin. His arms seemed to have been cleanly severed by a weapon resembling silk threads. His legs were twisted into a pretzel shape, and blood was flowing all over the ground. It was extremely horrifying.
Mu Jingshen stared at the man's gruesome death, his face showing no emotion. He slowly stood up and drew his sword from his waist. It was a sword with an ice-blue blade, its texture like ice, and wisps of white vapor rose as he drew the blade from its sheath.
He swung his longsword, and a fierce wind swept up fallen leaves from the ground. In an instant, the withered yellow leaves flew up and firmly covered the corpse.

Suddenly, Mu Jingshen stopped abruptly, turned around, his cold, sharp gaze sweeping behind him, and said sternly, "Come out!"
After a while, a dark figure emerged from behind the tree.
Mu Jingshen looked closely and saw a young girl.
Ye Fei changed out of her cloak and stood before Mu Jingshen with her true face.
"Who are you?" Mu Jingshen asked coldly.
Ye Fei didn't know if the person Mu Jingshen was looking for was Li, so she could only answer, "My name is Ye Fei."
“Ye Fei?” Mu Jingshen frowned slightly. “I’ve heard of you. You’re a freshman at Lingfeng Academy this year.”
"It's my honor that Senior Mu has heard of me," Ye Fei smiled.
Mu Jingshen looked at her coldly, clearly filled with hostility: "Why are you here?"
Ye Fei sighed, "I was being chased and that's why I fled here."
Mu Jingshen didn't expect her to say that: "Chased? Chased by whom?"
Ye Fei narrowed her eyes slightly: "I don't know who he is, but I do know that he has a pair of—purple eyes."
Upon hearing this, Mu Jingshen suppressed the hostility on his face.
Ye Fei observed Mu Jingshen's every move, and when she saw him put away his hostility towards her, her heart skipped a beat.
When Li is poisoned, her eyes turn purple; this is a secret known only to her.
She said that on purpose to confirm whether the person Mu Jingshen was looking for was indeed Li.
But judging from his current reaction, I've probably guessed pretty accurately...
"So you were being hunted down by that demon."
Mu Jingshen walked towards Ye Fei. He glanced at the corpse covered by fallen leaves and said, "You were able to escape, but he wasn't as lucky as you."
Ye Fei's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief: "You just said... demons?"
Mu Jingshen nodded and said in a cold voice, "Some demons will have their pupils change color due to excessive demonic energy, and purple eyes are the symbol of these demons."
Ye Fei's hand clenched tightly in her sleeve.
Is Li... a demon?
He told her in the sea of starflowers that he was not human.
This world has many races besides humans, but she never expected him to be a demon.
After a moment of silence, Mu Jingshen spoke again: "My purpose in coming here is to kill this demon."
Without hesitation, Ye Fei asked, "Can I come with you?"
Mu Jingshen frowned: "Why?"
Ye Fei gave a forced smile: "Do you want me to walk back to Lingfeng Academy alone? As your senior, I think it's your responsibility to escort your junior back."
Mu Jingshen stared at the girl for a while, then nodded: "Okay, I promise you."
"But if you follow me, you might see some very bloody scenes. Won't you be scared?"
