Chapter 268 The Young Lady

Chapter 268: The Young Lady

The girl's expression was earnest and devout.

Before Ye Fei could help Yun Fusang up, she saw a bright yellow, intricate forehead mark appear on her forehead.

The forehead mark emitted a dazzling light, and the next second, a pattern exactly the same as the forehead mark appeared on the back of Ye Fei's hand.

“This is…” Ye Fei carefully touched the texture on the back of her hand.

After the light faded, the pattern disappeared into her skin and vanished completely.

Yun Fusang stood up and smiled slightly at Ye Fei: "This is the oath mark of the Elf race. It is used when an Elf has someone they want to protect forever."

"You gave me this precious gem as a return gift, and I will use my oath mark to swear an oath to you that from now on, we will share happiness and hardship together."

Ye Fei blinked, and after a long while, she smiled: "So, you've gone from being my good teammate, good partner, and good sister to becoming my guardian?"

“You can understand it that way.” Yun Fusang nodded seriously.

"How foolish! Since it's something important to you elves, how can you just give it away like that?" Ye Fei looked at her helplessly.

Yun Fusang shook her head and uttered three words softly: "You deserve it."

"In that case, I'll accept it." Ye Fei couldn't persuade her otherwise, so she had no choice but to give up. She patted her shoulder and said, "But actually, what I hope for is not for you to protect me, but for us to walk side by side."

A glint flashed in Yun Fusang's eyes, and she nodded emphatically: "Alright! We'll walk side by side!"

...

The two returned to Jubaolou with a large bag full of pastries.

As Ye Fei turned a corner, she accidentally bumped into someone walking towards her, nearly causing her to drop the pastries she was holding.

Yun Fusang caught Ye Fei in time, saving the pastry from falling to the ground.

"I'm so sorry, did I hurt you?"

A deep, resonant voice came from in front of her. Ye Fei looked up and saw a middle-aged man in a gray robe, with a refined appearance, who appeared to be around fifty years old.

The middle-aged man's eyes flashed with surprise the moment his gaze met Ye Fei's, and he blurted out, "...Young Miss?"

"...?"

Ye Fei raised an eyebrow. "Young Miss?"

Is this how you address her?

She calmly and politely asked, "Uncle, are you sure you haven't mistaken me for someone else?"

The clear, youthful voice made the middle-aged man realize what was happening immediately. He bowed slightly to Ye Fei and said, "I have mistaken you for someone else. I am very sorry!"

"It's nothing." Ye Fei waved her hand magnanimously, then walked forward with Yun Fusang.

The middle-aged man silently watched the girl's graceful figure as she left, his brows furrowing almost imperceptibly. Then, he turned and left, entering a nearby teahouse.

Inside the private room, a beautiful woman in a dark brocade robe sat at the table, holding a cup of tea and taking a small sip.

The woman has a red lotus pattern on her forehead, and lotus patterns are present on both her clothes and accessories.

A knock came from outside the private room. A middle-aged man walked in slowly and bowed respectfully to the woman: "Second Miss."

The woman glanced at him sideways and saw the serious look on his face. She couldn't help but ask, "Uncle Hai? What happened? Why do you look so grave?"

Uncle Hai hesitated for a moment before replying, "Second Miss, on my way to the teahouse, I encountered a young girl who looks somewhat similar to the Eldest Miss."
