Chapter 764: Chaos Begins
Yu Muhan nodded, his handsome face showing no fear: "Yes."
The Great Envoy narrowed his eyes: "Yu Muhan, do you know what the objective of this demon-slaying operation is?"
"I know," Yu Muhan said calmly. "It's Ye Fei, isn't it?"
The Great God chuckled softly upon hearing this, flicking his fingers on the scepter a few times. "You and Ye Fei have a very good relationship; you were once teammates fighting side by side. Since you know that the Demon Slayer Operation is precisely to kill Ye Fei, then I have no reason to suspect that you are trying to tip her off."
Yu Muhan's gaze darkened slightly. After a long pause, she exhaled softly and curled her lips into a slightly sarcastic smile: "What benefit could I possibly gain from tipping off a demon?"
“I haven’t forgotten that my mother’s life is still firmly in your hands. Would I do something so foolish for my mother’s life?”
"Oh?" The High Priestess was somewhat surprised, not expecting her to be so cooperative. "So, according to your words, you have absolutely no feelings for Ye Fei anymore?"
“Yes.” Yu Muhan raised the corners of his lips, a half-smile on his face. “Which is more important, that so-called friendship or the lives of my entire clan? I have my own way of comparing them.”
The great envoy stared intently into the girl's eyes, trying to find a clue within them.
However, there was indeed no extra emotion in the depths of her eyes; they remained calm and still, as dark as a bottomless abyss.
The Great Envoy nodded in satisfaction. Her tough exterior had finally softened in order to protect the Yu clan.
"Very well, whether you still have feelings for Ye Fei or not, letting you go back and witness Ye Fei's death with your own eyes is not a bad thing." The Great God Envoy did not hesitate for long and readily agreed.
"Thank you for your permission, Great God."
Yu Muhan bowed and greeted the gods, her posture of bending over and lowering her head was such that none of the divine messengers present noticed the fleeting resentment and strange glint in her eyes.
As Yu Muhan stepped out of the council hall, he saw Murong Dan standing against a wall.
Murong Dan asked with a smile, "Is it done?"
Yu Muhan nodded gently.
"Hehe, very good, you actually convinced me." Murong Dan smiled with pleasure. He wanted to approach Yu Muhan, but she took a few steps back.
"I'm going back to my room first." Yu Muhan felt a bit disgusted, but outwardly remained calm.
Just as he turned to leave, his pleasant voice drifted from behind him: "I will be leaving the Holy Church for a few days tomorrow."
Yu Muhan paused slightly, turning her head to look at him: "Why?"
"Ah... I need to visit two old acquaintances." Murong Dan said, flicking her finger at her pristine white robe. "They are very important old acquaintances."
Yu Muhan asked in surprise, "You were gone for so many days, didn't the Holy Order suspect anything?"
"They're suspicious, so they'll probably send a Saint to follow me." Murong Dan smiled, but upon closer inspection, there was no trace of a smile in the depths of her eyes. "However, I have a way to shake them off."
Yu Muhan didn't say anything more; she wasn't interested in the two old acquaintances he mentioned.
"Don't worry, I'll be back before the demon-slaying operation."
Murong Dan raised a slender finger to her thin lips, making a shushing gesture, and the smile on her lips suddenly turned eerie—
"The chaos between heaven and earth is about to begin."
Yu Muhan frowned upon hearing this. What did he mean by that?
Murong Dan offered no explanation. He turned and left, his white-robed figure appearing exceptionally enigmatic.
