Chapter 918 Dream Scroll

Chapter 918: The Dream Scroll

Ye Fei subconsciously raised her hand to rub her eyes and shook her head: "No, the wind was too strong and got in my eyes."

Hua Ling tilted his head and looked at her for a few seconds, then shook his head helplessly: "Xiao Fei, you really can't lie."

Ye Fei: "..."

"The food isn't ready yet, come sit with me for a while." The boy patted the chair next to him.

Ye Fei sat down without refusing.

Hua Ling glanced at Ye Fei's somewhat dim eyes, pondered for a moment, then took out the golden paintbrush and waved it a few times in the air.

Wherever the pen tip passed, a colorful butterfly appeared, fluttering and swirling around Ye Fei.

Ye Fei raised her hand, and one of the butterflies fluttered its wings and landed on the back of her hand.

Looking at these little creatures, Ye Fei felt much better.

"Are you happy now?" the painting spirit asked her.

Ye Fei nodded, then met Hua Ling's eyes: "Thank you."

The spirit painter smiled innocently and said, "No need to be so polite with me."

"Five years have passed, and you seem not to have grown up or changed at all," Ye Fei said calmly. "Hua Ling, you still refuse to tell me what your true identity is."

The spirit painter rested her chin on one hand and brandished her paintbrush with the other: "Does my identity matter?"

Ye Fei said, "It's important because you're my friend."

She studied under her master for five years, and Rongxi and Hualing accompanied her for the same five years.

At first, she did harbor some hostility towards them, but as they watched the sunrise and sunset together and ate together, that hostility gradually disappeared.

Hua Ling's eyes flickered slightly.

After a long pause, he smiled slightly, a hint of tenderness in his handsome face: "Alright, I'll only tell Xiao Fei my true identity."

The boy played with the paintbrush in his hand, his clear eyes narrowing slightly: "I am a painting spirit, but in the eyes of many humans, I have another resounding name."

A resounding name?

Ye Fei was surprised, and the next second she heard the young man say, word by word, "One of the Nine Divine Artifacts, the Dream Scroll."

...

Ye Fei stared at Hua Ling with a look of astonishment.

The Painting Spirit... is it one of the Nine Divine Artifacts?!

But how can a divine artifact maintain a human form?

"To be precise, I am the spirit that formed from the Dream Scroll." The spirit rested her chin on her hand, her smile pure: "The Dream Scroll was the first divine artifact forged by the God of Refining, therefore I have existed for longer than other divine artifacts."

Ye Fei recalled the scene when she first met Hua Ling five years ago: "Back then, what was your purpose in approaching me?"

“To conceal my identity, I will try my best to observe the human race and disguise myself as a human to learn their lifestyle… and you just happen to be one of the humans I want to observe,” Hua Ling answered decisively.

Ye Fei was silent for a moment, then asked, "So now, in your eyes, am I still the human that you can easily observe?"

“Of course not.” Hua Ling shook her head: “As you said, we are… friends.”

Ye Fei kept her eyes down and didn't speak, so she didn't see the fleeting sadness and disappointment in Hua Ling's eyes.

Five years is but a fleeting moment for a spirit.

But for a human...

Hua Ling couldn't help but gaze at Ye Fei with a deep look.

He witnessed firsthand how this young human girl grew from a tender bud to a blossoming flower.

And through spending time with her, I gradually came to understand what love is...
