Chapter 17 The Lion Asks for Nine Million
"No, the school and the police helped her clarify the matter." Yan Sidi told the truth.
Old Lady Yan nodded: "It's a good thing that she didn't. Otherwise, we would have to spend money and time to help her restore her reputation."
Zhang Xiuli changed the subject: "Mom, you should talk to Yan Nuo about serious matters."
Old Lady Yan immediately perked up and looked at Yan Nuo lovingly: "You are not young anymore, it's time to find a husband of equal status and get married. I have picked out several marriages for you. Choose one and get married as soon as possible. I will also be able to give an explanation to your father."
The old lady threw a stack of photos on the table. Yan Nuo glanced at them and picked up one at random. The man in the photo was fat, bald, and had a beer belly as big as a seven-month pregnant woman. He looked so old that he could be her father.
"Grandma, this old man can be your son, but he's not suitable for me."
"What's inappropriate about it? He's older than you, eats more than you, walks longer than you, and loves you. How wonderful it is. Your parents are gone, so you must be longing for fatherly love, right? Finding you a fatherly husband is because I care about you." Zhang Xiuli said in a tone that said I'm working hard for your own good.
Yan Nuo sneered and threw the photo in Zhang Xiuli's face: "Since it's so good, then give it to your daughter Yan Sidi, Second Aunt. Let her marry him and give birth to a child for the old man. If the first child is a girl, you can give her a name that attracts a son and inherit your tradition."
"What do you know? The name Sidi brings good luck to our family. This has been proven by time. Yan Nuo, you may be jealous that our Sidi has a father and a mother by her side, but you cannot distort the good meaning of our Sidi's name." These words were both to comfort Yan Sidi and to show off.
Yan Nuo really didn't know what was so great about this. Yan Sidi was still foolishly thinking that her mother was right.
"To bring prosperity to others is to consume yourself, isn't it? You're consuming Yan Sidi's prosperity, so of course you're happy. No wonder Yan Sidi is good at singing and dancing, but in the end she could only attend a third-tier art college."
"What are you talking about! Yan Nuo, you've eaten arsenic, haven't you? Yan Sidi is my daughter. I don't want her to go to such a faraway place to study. What's wrong with letting her go to a local third-tier art college? We have plenty of money at home. Even if Yan Sidi doesn't study, we can still support her."
"Mom, why are you so excited? I won't blame you." Yan Sidi also wanted to stay at home.
After hearing her daughter's words, Zhang Xiuli finally felt relieved and glared at Yan Nuo fiercely.
Yan Nuo shook her head: "Grandma, I won't marry. I don't like these people. If you force me to marry, then I will go crazy and donate all the property left to me by my parents to the country, or I will give it all to my future husband, the old man."
I just won’t give it to you.
Old Mrs. Yan remained silent. She thought that instead of letting Yan Nuo get the property from someone else, it would be better to keep wasting time with her. If she died in an accident one day, she, as her grandmother, would be the first to inherit everything she left behind.
"Since you don't want to, let's put it aside for now. But I still say that these people are suitable for you, and what your second aunt said makes sense."
"Let Second Aunt enjoy this blessing." Yan Nuo said lightly.
"How can you talk like that? I'm already a mother, how can I enjoy myself?" Zhang Xiuli was very angry.
Yan Nuo raised an eyebrow: "How about you knit a green hat for your second uncle?"
Old Lady Yan looked at her daughter-in-law, and Zhang Xiuli immediately expressed her loyalty: "Mom, Yan Nuo is disrespectful to me. You have to seek justice for me."
"Okay, let's talk about something else." Old Lady Yan interrupted: "I plan to renovate the old house. Your three uncles have all given money. You should also give a share on behalf of your parents."
"That's right. I will give as much as the uncles give." This is inevitable, even if Yan Nuo is very reluctant to give.
"Nine million." Old Mrs. Yan said loudly.
Yan Nuo raised an eyebrow: "I have to pay so much by myself? It shouldn't cost so much to tear down the old house and build a new one, right?"
The Yan family's old house is not big, with only two villas and a garden, and ten years ago, Old Mrs. Yan asked for money to renovate it.
"Who said it's not necessary? I'm old and need to enjoy my retirement. You're all grown up and have money on hand. How about giving me some? Normally, the two hundred thousand you give me every month is pitifully little, but you're my granddaughter, and it's like spilled water. I won't ask much of you. Your three uncles have each contributed ten million for this renovation."
The old lady sounded very shocked when she said this, but Yan Nuo didn't want to believe a word of it. This old lady was probably lying.
"Nine million is too much for me. I don't have that much money." Yan Nuo said lightly.
