Chapter 460 Breaking up a good family
"Mom, this is the sea buckthorn juice my wife squeezed for you. It's good for your cardiovascular system." Zheng Jian walked out of the kitchen holding a glass of orange juice. His wife followed behind him, looking like a good wife and mother.
"Mom, I'm glad you can forgive Ajian. I hope we can be a harmonious and happy family." The woman's face showed a look of longing.
Xu An was old after all, and even her sharp eyesight couldn't detect a single peculiar thing on the two men's hypocritical faces. She had suspected her eldest son of ill intentions, but he hadn't made any unusual moves during the entire journey. Xu An took the cup and drank the juice.
After breakfast, Zheng Jian drove Xu An to the mental hospital.
On the way there, Xu An felt a cramping discomfort in her abdomen. This feeling quickly intensified and she couldn't bear it. Her face turned pale. "Ajian, my stomach hurts."
"What's wrong? Did you not eat well for breakfast? Mom, be patient, we'll be at the hospital soon. Once there, I'll take you to see the doctor first." Zheng Jian, who was sitting in the driver's seat, spoke with concern, but if Xu An raised his head and looked forward, he would be able to see a smiling face that had accomplished its goal through the rearview mirror.
Unfortunately, Xu An had no time to think about these things. The pain in her abdomen had already taken half her life.
Soon, they arrived at the hospital. Zheng Jian parked the car at the door and carried Xu An in.
"Doctor, my mother has a stomachache." Zheng Jian described the symptoms and placed Xu An on the hospital bed.
"Let me take a look." The doctor checked Xu An's eyes, pressed her abdomen, and then prescribed medicine for her to drink with water on the spot.
After Zheng Jian helped Xu An take the medicine, Xu An no longer felt the pain in his abdomen. Xu An stared at the medicine with concern, "What are the side effects of this special medicine?"
"You are old and can't bear the pain. You have to take it even if there are side effects." Zheng Jian said.
Xu An frowned. She was usually very cautious about taking medicine. Because she exercised regularly, she seldom got sick. But every time she got sick, her assistant would tell her what each medicine she took had effects and side effects. But that was all. Zheng Jian was not her assistant and was not aware of her habits.
Xu An leaned back against the pillow and asked, "What did the doctor say caused my stomachache?"
"The doctor said you're old and in poor health. He also said you have Alzheimer's and need to be hospitalized for treatment. Your family must be with you 24 hours a day."
"How is this possible! How could I get Alzheimer's!" Xu An opened her eyes quickly, her face turned cold, and what she saw was Zheng Jian's determined face. In an instant, what happened in the past few days flashed through her mind, and Xu An's heart seemed to be wrapped tightly with a rope. As soon as she lifted the quilt, she was held down by Zheng Jian's hands.
"Mom, don't struggle. You're old, so you need to take care of yourself. Don't be afraid. Even if you get Alzheimer's, I will do my best to take care of you."
"No need, doctor!" Xu An yelled for a doctor. After a long wait, she realized that this wasn't a hospital at all. No hospital would wait for someone to come despite the patient's cries. Xu An was heartbroken. She had been tricked into going abroad by her son and then forcibly labeled an "Alzheimer's patient."
"Are you trying to get my fortune this way? Ah Jian, you're still too young. I've already made a will, clearly dividing my assets. Every penny has a clear destination. Even if you slander me by saying I have Alzheimer's, you won't get a penny."
"Mom, you're overthinking it. I never thought I could get a penny from a stingy person like you. When I needed money to get married, you refused to give me any. I've long since realized how cruel you are."
"Then why did you go to so much trouble to bring me here? Isn't Adie locked up in a mental hospital?"
"Of course not. She's happily being someone's mistress right now. Maybe she'll be able to get promoted soon. She's the only one who can scheme against her ex-husband. How could her ex-husband have the ability to send her to a mental hospital?"
"Rebellious son!" Xu An hated deception the most in her life. She was deceived by her son who she had carried for ten months and gave birth to with great difficulty, and lost her freedom of movement. This made her realize that she was really a failed mother.
"Mom, I'm a filial son. My father just cheated on me, but you couldn't stand it and insisted on divorcing him, breaking up a good family. If you could have endured it for the three of us siblings, you would be living a happy life surrounded by grandchildren by now, and I wouldn't have to struggle for money in my middle age."
"Who paid you to do this? What exactly do you want to do?" After Xu An asked this, a flash of light immediately flashed through her mind. She widened her eyes and stared at Zheng Jian with a complicated look. "Did Wei Changjiang ask you to do this?"
