Chapter 97 Yu Sumin
"My friend had some problems, so I went to help. Now I'm going to wash your socks."
There is no good outcome if you talk back to your mother. Yan Sidi knows that her position in her mother's heart is as insignificant as a feather, so it is better for her to obey her so that she can live a good life.
Yan Sidi took out the smelly socks that Zhang Xiuli had accumulated for a week and straightened them out one by one. When Zhang Xiuli took off her socks, they were in clumps and needed to be straightened manually.
"Sidi, are you going to look for your boyfriends?"
Zhang Xiuli sat beside her daughter and questioned her in a low voice. Seeing that Yan Sidi looked flustered and didn't say anything, she thought she agreed and immediately became furious.
But this happened at home, with so many eyes watching, Zhang Xiuli would never make this public.
She knew that her daughter had several boyfriends at the same time at the art college, but she had no control over such matters.
In her opinion, her daughter was naive when she was young, but she became charming and elegant after she went to college. This kind of temperament is very attractive to men, so she doesn't argue with her daughter about this.
"I'm warning you, don't hang out with those poor boys anymore. You're going to marry into a wealthy family, do you hear me?"
"I understand. I will definitely listen to you and marry into a wealthy family."
Yan Sidi responded obediently while rubbing her socks with both hands. Suddenly, she felt a piercing pain in her wrist and looked at her mother with tears in her eyes.
"Mom, my hands hurt. Every year around this time, my hands hurt when they touch cold water."
Zhang Xiuli looked at her daughter, whose face was covered in tears, patted her head in disgust, and angrily scolded her: "Why are you so lazy? I asked you to do some work, but you are lazy."
"I didn't. My hand really hurts. Have you forgotten? When I was nine years old, I accidentally broke a bottle of your perfume. You hit me, and I fell on the shards of the perfume bottle, which caused my wrist to be injured."
"Is there such a thing? How could I not remember it? Don't slander me just to play the victim and not work. I am your mother. I gave birth to you and raised you. Don't let me down."
The corners of Yan Sidi's mouth curled up bitterly: "You've forgotten everything, what else can I say?"
She lowered her head and continued washing her socks, her right hand shaking violently.
Tears dripped into the water without stopping.
After a moment of silence, Zhang Xiuli said, "I've thought about it carefully, and there's no such thing as you said. Your hand must have been injured when you fell from a tree while climbing."
Even with her hand shaking like that, Zhang Xiuli couldn't deny that her hand was really injured.
"Okay, okay, go wash with gloves on. You won't be able to touch the cold water if you wear gloves."
"Um."
Yan Sidi stood up and went to look for rubber gloves. She didn't want to explain. Her hands hurt because they were cold. What was the point of wearing gloves? Could they block out the heat? If they could, that would be great.
Yan Sidi spent an hour washing more than a dozen pairs of Zhang Xiuli's socks. She only put them on the hanger after she had to give them to Zhang Xiuli to confirm that they were clean.
She returned to the bedroom and took off her gloves. Her hands were red and swollen. Fortunately, her aunt took her to the hospital to buy medicine, otherwise she would have been unable to sleep tonight because of the pain.
"Sisi, why are you crying here? Why is your hand bleeding?"
Nine-year-old Yan Sidi was kicked out of the house because she accidentally broke her mother's perfume. She hid in the children's slide in the community and cried.
When she was most sad, a pair of slender hands gently lifted her up, holding her bleeding little hand with heartache.
"Aunt." Little Yan Sidi quickly put her injured hand behind her back.
Yu Sumin said softly, "Don't be afraid, Sisi. Let your aunt take you to the hospital to get your hand healed, okay?"
"Well, my hand hurts, aunt, please save me."
Such injuries were fatal for a nine-year-old child. Yan Sidi thought she was going to die here, but fortunately her aunt appeared.
Yu Sumin carried her away from here and went to the hospital. When the doctor was pulling out the glass fragments from the wound, Yu Sumin held Yan Sidi the whole time and comforted her not to cry.
"This child's hand needs surgery. Wait until her wound heals before doing the surgery. Otherwise, she'll get a cold and feel pain when the temperature changes."
Yan Sidi cried very sadly. She knew that surgery was a terrible thing and she would have to undergo surgery.
Yu Sumin comforted her: "Don't be afraid, my aunt just had a heart surgery some time ago, and she's fine now. Do you think I'm okay?"
Yan Sidi stopped crying: "Aunt, why did you need surgery? Are you injured too?"
"Well, my aunt has a heart condition and needs surgery. Your surgery is simpler than my aunt's, so you'll be fine."
"Yeah." Yan Sidi was convinced, mainly because she saw that her aunt was still intact after the operation, and she would definitely be fine too.
"Sisi, can you tell your aunt how your hand got injured? Did any other children bully you?" Yu Sumin looked at the poor child and asked softly.
"I accidentally broke my mother's perfume. She got angry and hit me. I fell because I didn't stand firmly."
Yan Sidi lowered her head, her body trembling with fear, her two little hands clenched tightly together.
"I didn't mean to. I didn't know my mom's perfume bottles were so slippery."
"I believe you didn't mean it." Yu Sumin reached out and gently tapped the tip of the child's nose, saying, "Next time, be more careful. You can ask the nanny to help you get things."
"When Mom is unhappy, she asks me to get it. The nanny doesn't dare to take it." Yan Sidi was very sad. She looked up at Yu Sumin's gentle face and said, "Aunt, why does Mom hit me? Will you hit Yan Nuo too? I've never seen you hit her."
Yu Sumin smiled and said, "I won't hit Yan Nuo. If your mother hits you in the future, you can hide and come to find your aunt."
"I don't want Mom to beat me anymore," Yan Sidi said sadly, speaking her heart out. "What does it matter to me if I don't have a brother? But Mom just beats me. Every time Dad says Mom can't give birth to a brother, she beats me. Is a brother so important? Aunt, you didn't give birth to a brother either, but Uncle never beat you. Are my parents crazy? I see on TV that crazy people like to beat their own children. Can madness be cured?"
"Good boy." At this moment, Yu Sumin didn't know what to say to comfort the child's wounded heart.
"I'll take you home and then tell your mother about your injury." Yu Sumin smiled. In front of her children, she always showed her gentle and beautiful side.
Yan Sidi panicked for a moment and shook her head repeatedly: "No, Auntie, I'll go back by myself. Mom doesn't like me clinging to you."
Yu Sumin felt a little lost for a moment, but quickly regained her smile: "Then I'll take you to the gate of the community. You have to tell her about your injuries and ask her to take you to the hospital for surgery, understand?"
"Yeah." Yan Sidi nodded.
At dinner that night, Yan Sidi held up her injured hand and came to Zhang Xiuli: "Mom, the doctor said I need surgery on my hand."
"What's the point of having surgery, kid? Don't disturb me while I'm drinking the fertility soup. Oh, go back to your room and I'll get you some food. Your hand is injured, you can't let your grandma see it, or she'll scold me for not being able to take care of our little family."
"Then promise me that you will take me to the operation, okay, my dear mother?"
"Okay, okay, go upstairs quickly and don't let your grandma see you."
A month later.
"Mom, please take me to see a doctor."
"What are you looking at? Isn't this little injury almost healed? Go practice your dance! You must win first place in next week's campus performance to make your mother proud. If you don't, you'll be punished by being made to kneel down."
"My hand hurts."
"It hurts, right? I won't give you dinner tonight! Go practice dancing!"
"Yes, Mom." Yan Sidi wiped her tears with her little hands and walked towards the patio step by step.
