Chapter 158 The Young Lady and the Actor Garlic Sprout Buns and Clay Pot Rice Noodles

"You remember covering your face when someone came in."

Yao Xiaoyu arranged to meet Ye Junshu tomorrow. After thinking for a moment, she reminded him that they had already overcome the most suspicious aspects, and they couldn't afford to stumble on these details. Although Ye Junshu felt a little uncomfortable, he still agreed.

After explaining everything, Yao Xiaoyu didn't linger in the room. She strode out the door, casually tossing a few silver dollars to the waiter waiting at the door, instructing him to keep an eye on the man inside, before getting into a rickshaw and disappearing around the corner.

"What do you think this young lady's identity is?"

The receptionist waited until Yao Xiaoyu's figure was completely out of sight before whispering gossip to the waiter who had just come down from Ye Junshu's room. The waiter carefully looked around to make sure he didn't see the manager before whispering.

"She's probably a foreign heiress, and maybe even the heir to her family's fortune."

That guy was taller than him, and he was obviously not from an ordinary family. His suit was made of brand new fabric, but it was a style that even tailors had never seen before. Although he deliberately didn't speak in English, his unproficient accent was still trying to hide it from people.

Wealthy families produce romantics, but poor families can't cultivate such an air of elegance. The receptionist didn't see her, but that young lady's bodyguard was waiting at the door, his waist bulging, clearly carrying real weapons!

However, the men inside weren't much more handsome than him. Maybe he could give it a try. He wasn't looking for a long-term relationship anyway. A single hair from a wealthy person was thicker than their waist.

Yao Xiaoyu, who was in the rickshaw, was unaware that the waiter had decided to buy perfume and skincare products, secretly trying to steal Ye Junshu's sugar daddy. She was pondering whether there were any flaws in her and Ye Junshu's attire.

To make their background more believable, Yao Xiaoyu and her two companions not only disguised their identities but also made appropriate adjustments to their appearances.

Tao Xiaoxiao was the easiest to deal with. She wore a simple outfit, deliberately made a weapon shape on her waist, added a few strokes to her face to make it less conspicuous, and showed a section of painted tattoo on her arm. Standing there expressionless, she looked like a standard bodyguard, the kind with some criminal background.

Yao Xiaoyu's height is quite conspicuous among women, and walking with bent legs is awkward, so she simply went against the grain and used height-increasing shoes to break through the 1.8-meter mark, playing the role of a rich lady with Western blood. The open-mindedness of foreign countries has been heard of in China, and keeping someone as a sugar daddy is not a new thing.

Because she is of mixed race, her black hair and eyes, as well as her tall stature, are all reasonably explained. Although Yao Xiaoyu doesn't know what the standard behavior of a foreigner who is not fluent in Mandarin is like, it doesn't matter. Confidence is a two-way street. As long as she appears confident enough, others will naturally doubt her.

And the reality was pretty much as she expected. After she pronounced each word with the fourth tone, the people in the grand hotel were initially puzzled, but then seemed to achieve logical consistency through their own imagination and began to serve her very naturally.

As for aura, that's even easier to deal with. The movies and TV series she had watched, the information and character settings of the Qian family she had researched, and finally, the crazy feelings she had when she couldn't write an article, coupled with the addition of her oval face, slanted eyes, and neat hairstyle, Yao Xiaoyu tried it in front of the mirror and immediately understood why some people can kill with their eyes. Looking at her own face, she could only think of one sentence: "The wind and frost are pressing down on her like a sword!"

However, Yao Xiaoyu didn't know how long she would have to play the role, and she couldn't keep bothering the old lady with makeup. She thought she should get a Western-style wide-brimmed hat that could cover half of her face, so that people wouldn't notice that her features were off when she came back. It would also match her dress and make a better impression.

Hmm, I'll discuss with Ye Junshu later to find a versatile small bag, so that people at the big hotel won't not recognize her just because she only shows the lower half of her face.

Yao Xiaoyu didn't consider items like veils. Different clothes enhance different temperaments. In the general impression, a dress, gloves, red lips, and a tall person naturally exude an aura. If they are all dark colors, they are basically a wealthy tycoon or a nanny. But a snow-white veil... it's not that it doesn't match, but in the stereotype, it always conveys a sense of fragility.

Of course, if she were dressed as a Hu woman with gold ornaments and a curved sword, paired with a veil and hat, it would be a different story. But now that summer is over, Yao Xiaoyu doesn't want to be beautiful but freezing. However, if she comes across a different script in the future, playing this kind of role-playing wouldn't be out of the question.

As Yao Xiaoyu pondered how to reduce her workload in the coming days, she thought of the character played by Ye Junshu and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Compared to Yao Xiaoyu's almost complete makeover, Ye Junshu's character, who was established as a non-dominant man, had a much simpler appearance. His role was that of an actor who was taken in and kept by a young lady. He just needed to change into clothes that made him look thinner, do some makeup on his features, and adopt a submissive appearance with his head down.

Grandma's skills were quite good. Ye Junshu originally had a handsome and refined appearance, but with the help of her skillful hands, he not only became more ordinary, but also exuded a charming and seductive air when his eyes moved, giving him a vixen-like quality. However, Ye Junshu himself was a little uncomfortable with it and always subconsciously tried to stand up straight. Yao Xiaoyu reminded him three times during the short distance from the restaurant entrance to the room.

It was precisely because her facial features had been altered with makeup that Yao Xiaoyu subconsciously reminded Ye Junshu not to let anyone see her face. People who work long-term in big hotels are generally not stupid. If anyone notices anything amiss, Yao Xiaoyu can only wipe away her tears, wave her handkerchief, and send her off to her wedding sedan chair with her overseas campus life materials.

The rickshaw sped to the door of the pre-arranged house. Yao Xiaoyu didn't delay. She first took off her rather heavy dress and then kicked off her boots. The Western-style dress was really good at concealing her figure. As long as she didn't crawl under the dress, no one could see that Yao Xiaoyu was wearing mini stilts.

Tao Xiaoxiao did the same. The two washed their faces with the water they had prepared in advance, changed back into their lighter clothes, and instead of going out through the main gate, they jumped out of the window. They then put their hands on the wall, and a section of the wall that looked normal suddenly dented. They poked it hard, and several bricks that looked no different but were stuck together fell to the ground, revealing the scene on the other side.

The two men removed six bricks, revealing a large hole about half a person's height, and quickly crawled out. They then put the bricks back in their original places to block the hole, before naturally walking through a pile of debris onto the street and hailing a rickshaw to go home.

This is a clever idea left by Ye Junshu back then. The bricks are not real bricks, but lightweight materials with brick shapes drawn on the outside and the gaps filled. They look no different from the rest of the wall. In fact, you can push them out with a little force. Back then, it was just interesting, but now it has become a life-saving tool.

The other side of the movable brick is the end of a dead end, blocked by a lot of clutter. Yao Xiaoyu had seen it from the outside before, and no matter how tall she was or what angle she was from, she couldn't see the scene behind the clutter. Otherwise, she wouldn't have dared to come out so casually with Tao Xiaoxiao.

The rickshaw puller was old and looked very hard at pulling the rickshaw, but the speed was not fast. Yao Xiaoyu and her companion hadn't had a drop of water since they started putting on makeup, and they couldn't resist the aroma from the roadside. So they asked the rickshaw puller to stop by the roadside so they could have something to eat before continuing.

Mid-Autumn Festival is a day for family reunion, but it is also very lively during the day. When the vendors see the customers' eyes sweeping over, they greet them warmly. Yao Xiaoyu is not polite. She first picks up a few buns for herself and Tao Xiaoxiao to fill their stomachs, and then asks the vendor next to her to make two casseroles.

The filling of the buns is not the usual pork and scallion, but garlic sprouts with pork belly and cured meat. The steamed buns are oily in many places and have a golden top, making people swallow their saliva again and again. When you take a bite, it's even more amazing. The aroma explodes. If you eat it while walking, the aroma of the buns will still be irresistible even after you've walked ten meters away.

Yao Xiaoyu ate two in a row, and her rumbling stomach was full, so she went to sit on the low stool next to her and wait for the casserole.

Making a clay pot is extremely simple. Just pour in hot water and bring it to a boil, add a handful of sweet potato vermicelli, marinated shredded meat, some daylily and shiitake mushroom pieces, and some seasonal ingredients. After simmering for three to five minutes, you can serve the clay pot directly to your guests.

"Do you want it spicy?"

The vendor asked, and Yao Xiaoyu nodded. The vendor then scooped a spoonful of chili oil from the bowl next to her. The overwhelming aroma of chili made Yao Xiaoyu want to sneeze, but she held it in. She just looked forward to the taste of the casserole even more.

"The crispy soybeans were a complimentary gift; they taste great added in."

The vendor, wearing thick gloves, placed the clay pot on the table, and a moment later brought over a small plate. The rough porcelain plate had a few small dents, showing the same signs of age as the clay pot, which made Yao Xiaoyu think that the taste must be good—if business was bad, the kitchenware/tableware wouldn't have been used for so long!

The soup in the casserole was still bubbling. Yao Xiaoyu picked up a shredded piece of meat, blew on it, and put it in her mouth. After the spicy and savory flavor on the surface faded, the meat was incredibly tender, but it wasn't just melt-in-your-mouth. It was a bit like the yolk of a soft-boiled egg, but much more flavorful.

The sweet potato vermicelli is soft and chewy, but it doesn't break easily. The vermicelli, soaked in broth, feels a bit heavy on the chopsticks, yet you can't bear to put it down. The wood ear mushrooms and daylily buds have a crisp texture. Your tongue is suddenly sticky with chili flakes from the chili oil, making you want to breathe fire in your mouth while also feeling incredibly satisfied.

Both the steamed buns and the casserole were very generous in portion size. Yao Xiaoyu ate two servings of each and was so full that she could only watch enviously as Tao Xiaoxiao devoured her food. People with great strength also expend a lot of energy, and Tao Xiaoxiao was able to keep eating until her cheeks were tired from chewing.

"If you don't want the steamed buns, you can keep these steamed breads. We've taken up a lot of your time."

When getting off the carriage, Yao Xiaoyu handed the lotus leaf bag containing the steamed buns to the driver. The driver, who had already received a silver coin, did not want to accept it, but he could not persuade Yao Xiaoyu otherwise. He could only thank her repeatedly, and then put the steamed buns into his pocket with a flushed face, thinking that his eight little ones at home were in for a treat. These steamed buns were made of white flour!

The kind-hearted young lady gave five steamed buns, half for each person, and the last one was given to the wife at home to sweeten her mouth. It's also because he's incompetent. When he married her, he said he would make her enjoy a lifetime of happiness, but after she married him, let alone silver hairpins, he sometimes had to borrow eggs for a bowl of longevity noodles with eggs every New Year.

Author's note: When I was in elementary school, there was a super delicious clay pot noodle shop. They made their own pork chops and operated from a garage. Later, the garage was demolished, and I don't know where they moved to. This year, when I passed by the demolished supermarket, I discovered they now have a proper storefront there! [Thumbs up]
