"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" Xia Qiu ran over quickly and pulled up the mushrooms by the roots without mercy, saying proudly, "I said I should carry a bigger basket, and now it comes in handy."
"Yes, yes, yes." Su Qingyun also squatted down and picked up some into his small basket.
Suddenly, she stopped and asked Xia Qiu, "Qiuqiu, did you hear any sound?"
"What?" Xia Qiu asked without raising his head.
Su Qingyun frowned and pricked up his ears. The crisp bird calls were mixed with some rustling sounds. It was the sound of something brushing through the weeds and stepping on the ground. It seemed as if something was approaching. Su Qingyun's whole body tensed up instantly and his alertness was at its highest level.
"Qiuqiu, stop picking it up and go."
"What?"
Xia Qiu was pulled up by Su Qingyun for no apparent reason. Just as he was about to say something, Su Qingyun covered his mouth again.
"Mmmm..." Xia Qiu was dragged aside by Su Qingyun and hid behind a thick vine.
"What's wrong?" Looking at Su Qingyun's solemn expression, Xia Qiu asked in a low voice.
Su Qingyun raised his index finger to his lips, "Shh."
The two of them squatted in the grass without moving. Su Qingyun stared at the front with a vigilant look. Xia Qiu finally felt something was wrong, and she also held her breath.
The two of them stared straight ahead, breathing softly. The rustling sound became louder and louder, and closer and closer. Their hearts almost jumped into their throats. What on earth could that be?
As the sound grew louder, a smell seemed to permeate the air. Su Qingyun sniffed hard and widened his eyes. It was the smell of rust, and it was the smell of blood!
She silently took out a sharp sickle from the basket. Xia Qiu's eyes widened instantly. Why did she bring a sickle even when stepping on a mushroom?
"It's better to be prepared." Su Qingyun mouthed.
Xia Qiu understood her lip movements, "..." This kind of preparedness is really powerful.
Su Qingyun held the sickle tightly, and Xia Qiu huddled beside her nervously. Soon, the two saw what was coming.
A huge black shadow was walking towards them, panting heavily. It was coming from the direction where they had just picked mushrooms. It was dragging one of its hind legs and seemed to be injured. It was not walking fast, and the smell of blood was even stronger.
Su Qingyun and Xia Qiu exchanged a glance, each seeing the disbelief in the other's eyes. It was actually a black pig! And an injured black pig at that!
Its legs were still bleeding and there was blood on its face. It was obvious that it had just experienced a fierce fight and was extremely tired.
Su Qingyun's heart began to pound, not out of fear but excitement. A strong black pig weighed several hundred pounds, and she was not sure she could catch it. But there was an injured black pig in front of her, so what was she waiting for if she didn't take the opportunity to kill it?
Xia Qiu seemed to see through Su Qingyun's intention. She widened her eyes in shock and pulled her hand, shaking her head frantically. No, no, this is a big wild boar. Although it is injured, they cannot provoke it. It is too dangerous!
Su Qingyun patted Xia Qiu's back of the hand and told her to calm down.
The black pig seemed to be tired from walking, and leaned against a tree to rest, breathing heavily, with blood still flowing from its legs. Su Qingyun took a closer look and found that its abdomen seemed to be injured as well. The wound was not big, but seemed to be quite deep, as if it was caused by something that was inserted directly into it.
Su Qingyun became more and more excited. The black pig was so seriously injured, so she had a better chance of success.
She calmed down and mouthed to Xia Qiu to stay where he was and not move.
"Don't!" Xia Qiu didn't dare to make a sound at all. He could only watch Su Qingyun move slowly, step by step, almost without making any sound, and went behind the tree that the black pig was leaning against.
Holding the sickle, she approached cautiously, waiting for the most suitable opportunity to strike. She was already very close to the black pig, and it would be able to spot her as soon as it turned its head.
Xia Qiu had already covered her mouth in fear, afraid that she would accidentally scream.
She could only watch stupidly as Su Qingyun raised the sickle towards the black pig's head. As it got closer, the black pig seemed to sense something and was about to turn its head around immediately.
At this moment, Su Qingyun swung the sharp sickle down without blinking, and directly and accurately cut the black pig's neck. The wild black pig had thick skin and flesh. Su Qingyun was well prepared and used a lot of strength. The black pig had no time to react at all after this knife. The artery on the neck was cut, and blood spurted out and splashed everywhere.
The black pig died without struggling at all, and its weight of two or three hundred pounds fell to the ground with a dull thud.
Xia Qiu stared at the scene in a daze, completely dumbfounded. She looked at Su Qingyun with an inexplicable awe. Last time, she knew she had managed to handle a large group of thugs, but this time was different! This time, she witnessed Su Qingyun slashing the throat of a large black pig with a sickle. How could Qingyun be so bold?
This bloody and exciting scene made her dizzy and it took her a long time to recover.
"Qiuqiu, why are you standing there? Come here quickly." Su Qingyun brought Xia Qiu back to his senses.
She walked over with her legs trembling and as soft as noodles.
Looking at the big black pig that was covered in blood, Xia Qiu almost felt nauseous. She covered her nose and asked, "What are we going to do?" How could two girls carry away such a big black pig?
She glanced at her backpack, which was half full of mushrooms, and said worriedly, "My backpack can't hold more."
"Why don't we go back and call for help?" Xia Qiu suggested.
Su Qingyun did not answer her question. She stood up, looked around, and suddenly walked towards the direction where the black pig came from.
"Hey, Qingyun, where are you going?" Xia Qiu hurriedly followed her footsteps.
