Chapter 150: Looking for Senior Brother

After the list of finalists is announced, it is time for the awards ceremony. Even though it is just a semi-final, awards are set up to encourage everyone's inventions and creations.

The top ten of the twenty groups of contestants received prizes, and the first, second, and third places received bonuses of 100, 80, and 50 yuan respectively. The group of Su Qingyun and Ji Yue naturally won the first place and received a bonus of 100 yuan.

The remaining seven groups of contestants received prizes, each receiving a pen and a hardcover notebook, which were also worth quite a bit of money.

After receiving the prize, Su Qingyun and Ji Yue divided the prize money equally, fifty yuan each. Teacher Qin watched with a smile as the two of them finished "dividing the spoils".

At this point, the rematch ended successfully. They can stay in the Children's Palace until tomorrow at the latest and move out. Su Qingyun and the others are not in a hurry to go back as she still has things to do.

"Where are you going?" Teacher Qin asked with a frown. She was just a little girl. What if something happened in such a big provincial capital?

"Go to the provincial capital university." Su Qingyun said honestly.

"Provincial University?" Teacher Qin was stunned, but then he felt relieved. Going to the school shouldn't be dangerous. "What are you going there for?"

"I need to find someone for something."

"Okay, then come back early." Teacher Qin didn't ask any more questions. She glanced at Ji Yue beside her and asked, "How about letting Ji Yue accompany you?"

"No need, teacher." Su Qingyun said. This was her private matter and it was not convenient for her to have anyone go with her.

Ji Yue pursed his lips, thought for a moment and said, "Let's go together."

"Huh?" Su Qingyun was puzzled.

"I'm going to the department store and buy something with my bonus."

"good."

Seeing the two of them about to leave, Teacher Qin still worriedly reminded them, "Come back early and be careful."

Su Qingyun and Ji Yue nodded and left the Children's Palace. The direction of the Provincial University was the same as the department store, which was not far. The two did not take a taxi and walked slowly.

"I finally come to the provincial capital, I should go to the bookstore." Su Qingyun suddenly remembered this.

Ji Yue: "I'll go check it out later. What book do you want to buy?"

Su Qingyun thought for a while and said, "Agronomy, probably." Since she was helping in the experimental group, she still had to brush up on her knowledge of agronomy.

"Okay, I'll keep an eye on it for you." Ji Yue nodded.

The two separated in front of the department store, and Su Qingyun continued walking towards the provincial university.

The students admitted by the Provincial University today are all recommended by workers, peasants and soldiers. Their academic levels vary greatly, and there are fewer majors offered. Su Qingyun looked at the plaque on the door of the Provincial University and it seemed to have lost some of its luster.

She walked to the message room at the main gate and said hello.

"Hello, brother."

The security guard in the reception room turned his head to look at her, "Who are you?"

"I'm here to look for someone. This is my letter of introduction." Su Qingyun took out his letter of introduction.

The guard took a closer look and, seeing that her identity was correct, asked, "Who are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for a professor in the mathematics department named Chen Zheyu. Do you know him?"

"Professor Chen?"

"Yes." Su Qingyun asked hurriedly, "Is he in school now?"

The guard thought for a moment and said, "Wait for me to make a phone call and ask."

"Okay, thank you for your help." Su Qingyun said with a smile. She looked at the security guard dialing the number with a smile.

"Hello, could you please connect me to Professor Chen from the Department of Mathematics? Oh, hello Professor Chen, I'm from the Security Department. There's a girl here looking for you. Yes, her name is..." The security guard was stuck for a moment.

"Su Qingyun." Su Qingyun said hurriedly.

"Her name is Su Qingyun." The guard said, "Let her come directly to your office, right? Okay, okay."

The security guard hung up the phone and said, "Professor Chen told you to go directly to his office in the Department of Mathematics."

"Okay." Su Qingyun nodded quickly. She glanced at the huge campus and asked, "Excuse me, how do I get to the office?"

"Go straight, turn left and then right, and you will see the office building. The Department of Mathematics is the first room on the right on the third floor." The security guard explained in detail.

Su Qingyun nodded, "Thank you for your help."

"You're welcome."

Su Qingyun turned and walked in the direction he said.

At the communications office in the office building, Chen Zheyu returned to the mathematics department office with a puzzled look on his face. He wasn't from this city, and besides his colleagues, he had no friends here. Who on earth would come to see him at this time? Su Qingyun, this name was quite unfamiliar to him.

"Professor Chen, what's wrong?" a colleague next to him asked him.

"Oh, nothing." Chen Zheyu came back to his senses.

"By the way, Professor Chen," a colleague said, leaning closer to him, "I heard that the higher-ups are planning to set up a mathematics talent group to conduct some mathematical research. What do you think? Are you interested?"

Chen Zheyu said expressionlessly: "Not interested."

"How could you not be interested?" the colleague said incredulously. "This is a great opportunity. If we can get selected into the math talent group, how could we possibly stay here? We have to seize this great opportunity. If we miss it, we'll never get it again."

Although their identities as university teachers seem glamorous, today's universities are no longer the ones where a hundred schools of thought flourished and students studied hard. What kind of students are these serious university graduates from the early years teaching now?

The system of recommending workers, peasants and soldiers to go to university has so many things to be criticized. It does not consider academic qualifications, but only looks at contributions and recommendations.

Take their mathematics department for example. Some of the students they recruited had only graduated from elementary school. Not only could they not understand the lectures, they didn't even recognize the mathematical symbols. It was like talking to a cow in class.

As teachers, they naturally wanted to teach excellent students, even to cultivate talents for the country, but what about now? Day after day passed, they were just muddling through. If they hadn't reached their position, they really didn't understand the frustration. Now that they finally saw a chance to leave, there was no reason not to seize it.
