Chapter 25 Enlistment Notice

"Dad, Mom, are you asleep?" she whispered.

"What's wrong? Yunyun, come in." Fortunately, the two were still asleep.

Qin Ying looked at her daughter who had come into their room, sat up and asked, "Why aren't you sleeping yet?"

Su Qingyun sat on the edge of the bed, holding her mother's hand and said, "I just went to the bathroom and heard my second uncle and second aunt talking. My second brother hasn't left yet, but my second aunt can't sleep. I don't know how long it will take for my second brother to come back. When my second aunt misses him, she doesn't even have a photo of him. It's the same with my second brother. He's all alone in the army, and there's no one to miss him."

"Photo?" Su Aimin caught the word and frowned. "You want to?"

"I was wondering if we could take a family photo together before my second brother passes away so that he can take it with him?"

"Family portrait?" Qin Ying was also stunned.

"But how can we make it in time? Your second brother passed away the day after tomorrow, and your eldest brother is still in the county and hasn't come back yet. Besides, the nearest photo studio here is in town."

"It's still in time, Dad." Su Qingyun had already thought it through. "Second brother will leave the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow morning we'll go to the brigade and call eldest brother. It's okay if he asks for a day off. We'll meet up in town tomorrow afternoon, take the photos, and then have them developed quickly. Second brother will definitely get the photos the day after tomorrow."

She had made clear arrangements, and Su Aimin thought about it and it seemed feasible.

"Take a picture, give the child a memory." Qin Ying suddenly said, with a hint of loneliness and sadness in her eyes.

Su Aimin sighed and put his arm around his wife's shoulders, knowing that she was thinking of her parents who were far away in Beijing.

Qin Ying was a little dazed. She left in a hurry that year and didn't take any photos with her. After so many years, her parents' faces were almost blurred. She didn't know how they were doing now.

"Okay, I'll do it." Su Aimin agreed, "But I have to tell your grandparents about this."

"Okay." Seeing her father agreed, Su Qingyun breathed a sigh of relief and a smile appeared on her face.

"Okay, go back to sleep." Qin Ying pinched her daughter's fair and tender face. "You worry about this and that all day long. Even your milk can't take care of you as much as you do."

Su Qingyun stuck out her tongue, made a face, and trotted back to her room to sleep.

The next morning, Su Aimin got up early. Wu Guixiang and Su Dalin were old and slept less, so they got up early. They were surprised to see Su Aimin get up so early.

Wu Guixiang looked at him and said, "Third brother, why are you up so early?" It's really rare.

"Mom, I want to tell you something." Su Aimin pulled his parents to sit down. "Isn't Congwen leaving tomorrow? Last night, Yunyun told me that we should all go to town to take a family photo and leave a memory for Congwen. After all, we don't know when he'll be back."

"Family portrait?" Wu Guixiang was surprised by the new word and immediately understood. "You mean we should go to town to take a family photo together?"

"Yes, that's what I mean." Su Aimin nodded.

Su Dalin's wrinkled face broke into a smile. "That's great! Yunyun is such a thoughtful kid. Why didn't we think of that?"

"Okay, our whole family will go and take this...this family portrait."

"What about Congjun? He is still in the county. Doesn't the family portrait have to be taken by the whole family together?" Wu Guixiang suddenly thought of Su Congjun.

"Mom, don't worry. I'll go to the brigade now and call the steel plant to ask for leave from the army. It won't cause any delays." After Su Aimin said this, he hurried out.

"This third brother is always in a hurry to do anything." Wu Guixiang muttered, and when she saw Zhang Xinlan from the second house got up, she hurried over to tell her about this.

At the steel plant, Su Congjun, who received a call from the brigade, heard the news that Congwen was leaving and promised to come back. As the eldest brother, he had to come back to see him off.

After making the call, Su Aimin returned home and his whole family was waiting for news from him.

Su Aimin smiled and said, "Congjun said he'll be back soon. We'll leave after breakfast and meet at the photo studio in town."

"Okay, let's eat quickly." Wu Guixiang greeted everyone. Seeing that Zhang Xinlan didn't move, she said, "Second wife, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and serve breakfast."

"Oh, okay." Zhang Xinlan came back to her senses and walked towards the kitchen.

She didn't sleep well all night, thinking about Congwen, but she didn't expect to wake up to learn that the whole family was going to take a photo together. Zhang Xinlan was stunned, and she didn't expect that this matter was proposed by the little girl Qingyun, and the third child was also helping out.

The third brother’s family doesn’t seem that annoying after all, Zhang Xinlan smiled silently.

Wu Guixiang distributed the rice as usual. Zhang Xinlan looked at the dishes on the table, first picked up a piece of food with chopsticks and gave it to Congwen and Congwu, then paused, and picked up another piece of food with chopsticks and put it into... Su Qingyun's bowl.

In an instant, the whole family looked over. Su Qingyun was a little dazed as she looked at the food in the bowl. What happened to her second aunt?

"Why are you looking at me? Eat quickly!" Zhang Xinlan's face was a little hot, and she deliberately said loudly, then lowered her head to eat.

Everyone couldn't help laughing, so they had to keep their heads down and eat to avoid showing their smiles.
