Chapter 268 Pretending

She slowly peeled off the candy wrapper and put the candy into her mouth. The sweet milk flavor instantly spread on the tip of her tongue, filling her entire mouth and seemed to spread all the way to her heart.

Sitting next to Su Qingyun was Li Siyuan. He didn't smoke, but he took a sip of the wine out of curiosity. The spiciness made him slurp his wine, which made Su Qingyun laugh.

"If you don't know how to drink, don't drink." She handed him a glass of water.

Li Siyuan's face turned red from the spiciness. He quickly took two gulps of water and said, "I just want to try it." He had only drunk the rice wine brewed at home, which was sweet and not strong in alcohol. He had never expected that this wine would be so strong in alcohol and so spicy.

He looked at the others who seemed to be enjoying themselves in confusion, "What's so good about this thing?"

Su Qingyun laughed and looked out the window. White clouds were floating in the sky and there were colorful lights in the distance. Looking at the world from another angle, there was another kind of beauty.

The plane occasionally encountered turbulence and would be bumpy. It was the first time for the members of the delegation to take a plane, so they were inevitably a little panicked.

"I was so scared! Why is the plane shaking so violently?"

"This is much scarier than taking a train. I'd better avoid flying in the future."

The two were frightened and murmured softly.

Behind them, a woman dressed in exquisite clothes and adorned with jewels frowned, looking at them with a hint of disgust. She parted her red lips and said, "What a bunch of country bumpkins who have never seen the world. How unlucky to be on the same flight with them!"

She spoke with a disdainful tone, with fluctuating pitch and pronunciation different from Mandarin, so no one could really understand what she said, but it felt like it wasn't something nice.

Su Qingyun frowned when she heard the woman's standard Hong Kong accent and turned around. Before she could say anything, a young man from the delegation turned around angrily, looked at the woman, and asked, "What did you say just now?"

The woman was stunned for a moment, as if she didn't expect that there was someone among them who could understand what she said, but she didn't panic as if she was caught on the spot, but instead raised her mocking smile again.

"What do I say have to do with you, or do you know I'm talking about you? Are you so anxious to identify yourself?"

Su Qingyun frowned even deeper. She looked at the team member who was speaking. She remembered that he was from Guangdong Province, so it was not surprising that he could understand what the woman said.

"What the hell is she talking about?" asked another team member.

The Guangdong team member angrily said, "She said we were a bunch of country bumpkins who had never seen the world, and that it was bad luck to fly with us."

Upon hearing this, all the members of the team were furious. Yu Qi, who had been dozing with his eyes closed, opened his eyes with a bad look on his face.

"You've seen the world, so why are you on the same plane with us? If you're so awesome and noble, why don't you charter a plane for yourself?" One of the team members sneered and hit back at the woman.

The woman, who clearly understood Mandarin, was a bit annoyed. "Do you think I'd be willing to fly on the same plane with you? That's really disgusting!"

"What did she say again?" The members of the delegation didn't understand what the woman was saying and became anxious.

"She said she felt sick about flying on the same plane with us." The Guangdong team member translated the woman's words with gritted teeth.

"If you don't want to sit, just get off. No one is stopping her."

"Ask the captain if we can find a place up front to put her down so she can see a doctor. She's so sick, don't get sick."

Knowing that the woman could understand what they were saying, everyone said this on purpose. The woman was so angry that her face turned red and she was gasping for breath. A man in a suit who was reading a newspaper next to her couldn't help laughing when he heard this.

The woman glared at the man angrily, but when she saw his clothes, the expensive handmade suit, the precious watch on his wrist, and his outstanding temperament, she knew that this man was no ordinary person. She did not dare to offend him rashly, so she could only continue to direct her fire at the members of the delegation.

"Only a gentleman would speak to a lady like that. What a lack of manners!"

"You've already said it, haven't you? We're just country folk, we're not gentlemen at all."

The woman was so frustrated by her own words that she blurted out, "People like you don't deserve to go to Hong Kong City. Even the air would be polluted by you if you went there!"

If the previous words were just a simple dispute, then this sentence was simply naked discrimination. The expressions of the Guangdong team members were very ugly.

"Sir, Madam, can we talk it out peacefully and avoid arguing?" the flight attendant quickly tried to calm both parties. "It's fate that we're all on the same plane. Can we just calm down for a moment?"

However, both parties were furious and no one was listening to her. Just when the stewardess was at a loss, Yu Qi finally stood up and looked at the woman. His expression was friendly, but his tone was very serious. "Madam, please be careful with your words."

"If we have disturbed you in any way, I apologize on their behalf, but please control your emotions and refrain from making personal attacks against my team members."

Yu Qi's words were already very polite. After all, when they were out, they represented not only themselves but also the Beijing Research Institute. If they argued with others like a shrew, they would really lose face.

The woman, however, mistook Yu Qi's politeness for weakness and concession. She raised her chin and smiled, "Alright, I accept your apology. After all, you mainlanders are used to apologizing."

She had been speaking Cantonese before, but said this sentence in Mandarin, obviously wanting everyone to hear clearly.
