The next morning, the father and daughter set off. They had to take a bus to the county first before they could take a train to the provincial capital.
Because they were only going to be gone for a few days, Qin Ying didn't pack much for them. The father and daughter each carried a bag and traveled light. Su Qingyun noticed that from the moment they got on the bus to the county town, her father had been holding the bag tightly in his hand, so tightly that veins popped out of his hands.
Seeing her father so nervous, Su Qingyun wondered if her father was taking all his assets with him when he went to the provincial capital this time.
"Yunyun, why don't you take a nap? Dad will call you when we get there." Su Aimin felt a little distressed when he saw the dark circles under his daughter's eyes.
In preparation for this trip to the provincial capital, Su Qingyun stayed up for two nights to write a detailed report. Not only did she elaborate on the principles and functions of the harvesting tractor, but she also proposed further improvement plans and extensions to other areas on this basis. Since she was going there for an exchange, she had to come up with something real so that the trip wouldn't be in vain.
"It's okay, let's sleep after we get on the train." Su Qingyun shook her head. It was impossible to sleep in the shaking car. The Agricultural Bureau bought sleeper tickets for them, so they could have a good rest.
"That's okay too."
Soon, the car arrived in the county. The father and daughter saw that the train was still early to depart, so they found a small shop to eat something.
The two of them ordered a basket of steamed buns and two bowls of porridge. The white and soft buns were still steaming. Su Qingyun picked up a bun with a plump belly and took a bite. The soft skin broke open and the delicious gravy immediately flowed into her mouth. Her lips and teeth were filled with the aroma of meat. She sighed with satisfaction, "It smells so good!"
Su Aimin eats fast. He finishes a bowl of porridge in a few gulps and a fist-sized bun in two or three bites, his mouth full of oil.
"Yunyun, are you done eating? Let's go after you're done." Su Aimin took money out of his bag to pay the bill.
Su Qingyun took a glance and thought, wow, her father had put all his fortune into these great unity pictures. It seemed that her father really wanted to do something big!
Thinking of this, she was also a little excited and excited.
"Let's go." Su Aimin took Su Qingyun to the train station.
The county train station was not big, and looked old and shabby, but it was very crowded, comparable to the grandeur of the department store that Su Qingyun had seen at that time, with people carrying large and small bags and crowding around.
A mixture of various smells entered Su Qingyun's nasal cavity, making her so uncomfortable that she almost vomited out the bun she had just eaten.
"Yunyun, hurry, we are in the front carriage." Su Aimin protected the bag with one hand and held his daughter with the other. Although he was tall and strong, it took him a lot of effort to squeeze onto the train.
Nowadays, all trains are green-skinned trains, and the hard seats are made of wooden strips, which look uncomfortable.
When they arrived at their sleeper car, the number of people dropped sharply and the air smelled much better. Su Qingyun breathed a sigh of relief as if he had survived a disaster.
The scene of crowded trains is comparable to the Spring Festival travel rush in later generations. It’s so horrible!
Su Aimin was holding the train ticket and looking for their seats. He and Su Qingyun were sleeping on the upper and lower bunks. He looked at the ladder between the bunks and said, "Yunyun, you sleep on the lower bunk." He was afraid that Su Qingyun would fall while climbing up and down.
"Okay." Su Qingyun nodded.
There are four beds in each sleeper compartment on the train. Su Aimin looked around, closed the compartment door, put his luggage on the shelf on the side, took out the small bag of money, thought about it, and stuffed it into the pillow of the upper bunk.
He felt uneasy again, so he found a piece of clothing and wrapped the pillow before he was barely satisfied.
Su Qingyun looked at her father's series of actions and widened her eyes, "Dad, you don't have to be so careful, do you?" There are few people buying sleeper tickets now. There are hardly any people on their side. The two beds opposite are still empty, and she doesn't know if there are any people there.
"It's always better to be careful." Last time I met kidnappers in the county, there were all kinds of people on this train, so I had to be on guard.
That's true. Su Qingyun nodded and looked at his bed. Although the white bedding looked old, it was clean and there was no strange smell.
It was still early, and Su Aimin sat on the lower bunk next to his daughter. Su Qingyun took out the book he brought with him and started reading, which was the "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy".
Su Aimin glanced at it casually and widened his eyes. His daughter could now understand books written in this kind of tadpole script?
"Hello, is anyone inside?" When the train was about to depart, there was a knock on the compartment door and Su Aimin opened it.
Su Qingyun raised his eyes and took a look. He saw a middle-aged man who looked gentle and refined. He was wearing a suit that was rare in that era, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and carrying a small leather suitcase. He looked like a scholar or professor.
The man sat down on the lower bunk across from them and greeted Su Aimin and his daughter with a smile, "Hello, are you two going to the provincial capital as well?"
The provincial capital is the final stop of this train.
"Yes." Su Aimin had a liking for this kind of intellectual. He was also bored, so he just started chatting with the man.
"You are not from Luoshui County, are you?" Su Aimin said.
The man smiled and asked curiously, "No, but how did you tell that?"
"As for the clothes you are wearing, we can't find them here in the whole county." Su Aimin's eyes were sharp. It was obvious that the clothes on the man were not cheap. They looked like they were handmade and custom-made. They might not be easy to find even in the provincial capital.
"So that's why. I'm from the provincial capital and came here to do something." The man smiled, glanced at Su Qingyun, his eyes fell on the book in her hand.
"Brother Su, is this your daughter?"
"Yes, my daughter, Yunyun, called someone, Uncle Qi." In just a few seconds, the two had exchanged names.
