Chapter 37 Planting Experiment

Over there, Qi Heng also returned home after sending Su Qingyun and his daughter off. When he entered the house, he saw his father sitting in the living room reading a book. He was surprised and said, "Dad, why are you back? Why didn't you call in advance so I could pick you up?"

"When the work is done, I will come back naturally."

"I'm sorry, Dad." Qi Heng apologized. He knew his father was understanding that he was busy with work.

"It's okay, work is important." His father looked at him kindly.

Qi Heng smiled and sat down next to him. "Dad, how was your visit to the counties and towns?"

His father is a professor of agronomy at the provincial agricultural university. Some time ago, he visited and inspected various counties and towns in their eastern province.

"Not bad. We've found several places that are suitable for growing our new wheat variety. Luoshui County is especially good. The soil is good, and there's plenty of sunshine and rain, making it ideal for growing this wheat variety. I just came back from Luoshui County today."

"Your Department of Agriculture has invited me to discuss this tomorrow. We're considering selecting a few test sites in our province for wheat planting. As long as these first batch of trials are successful, we can consider large-scale planting, and even promote it nationwide."

"That's great!" Qi Chu said excitedly. "At the meeting today, our leaders mentioned the need to select high-quality wheat seeds for cultivation. Your return is truly timely."

"But, Luoshui County?"

"What's wrong?" His father looked at him puzzled.

Qi Heng shook his head. "Nothing much. It's just that a young expert from Luoshui County came to the Department of Agriculture today."

"Little expert?" His father became interested.

"It's a name we gave it to ourselves privately." Qi Heng himself found it very interesting. "It's a female student in her second year of high school who made a corn harvester for them. Our Agriculture Department was very curious about her and invited her to come and talk to us."

"Female student?" His father was stunned, then asked anxiously, "Is this female student called Su Qingyun?"

"How do you know?" Qi Heng was surprised. "Oh, right, you came back from Luoshui County. Did you meet her in Luoshui County?"

"Not really. I was in the same compartment with her and her father on the train."

Qi Heng's father was none other than Qi Chu, whom Su Qingyun and his daughter had met on the train. Thinking of that incredibly intelligent girl, Qi Chu smiled and said, "I even invited them to my home. I never thought their trip to the provincial capital was actually an invitation from your Agriculture Department."

The fact that she was invited by the Provincial Department of Agriculture showed that she had made quite a stir. He had indeed made no mistake about her. The girl was extremely intelligent and could not be compared to ordinary people.

"This is such a coincidence." Qi Heng also felt that it was fate.

"Come to think of it, there was an interesting thing that happened on the train."

"What?" Qi Heng became interested. "Dad, tell me about it."

Qi Chu recounted in detail how they encountered a thief on the train and were unable to defend themselves after being framed. In the end, the thief was exposed because Su Qingyun remembered the serial number on a one-cent bill. Qi Heng was first angry and then shocked.

"Student Su's memory is so good? He has a photographic memory, Dad?"

Qi Chu nodded. "She has a photographic memory, one in a million. That's why I said that girl had a bright future. I didn't expect that her brilliance has already been noticed."

"I didn't expect that we would meet again so soon." He is now even more looking forward to the seminar at the Ministry of Agriculture tomorrow.

Su Qingyun and his daughter naturally didn't know about this relationship. Su Qingyun didn't like Mao Bin, who was not particular about his bed, and slept very well that night. But Su Aimin, who lived next door, was worried about this matter. He tossed and turned all night and woke up early.

Even though he didn't sleep well, Su Aimin's eyes were shining brightly, as if he was full of energy and wanted to do something big.

When Su Qingyun saw her father like this, she knew that her father had already made up his mind.

After the father and daughter had a simple breakfast, Su Aimin sent Su Qingyun to the Provincial Department of Agriculture. After repeatedly telling her to stay there and that he would pick her up later, he left in a hurry.

Su Qingyun suddenly had a strange illusion that her father had sent her to kindergarten.

She shook her head and smiled, then walked into the Agriculture Department. The people in the Agriculture Department were now familiar with her and enthusiastically told her that the technical team members were all in the conference room.

When Su Qingyun entered the conference room, Fang Ruosheng's eyes lit up when he saw her. He quickly said, "Qingyun is here? Come quickly. Let me introduce you to Professor Qi Chu, an agronomy professor at our provincial agricultural university. Come, let's meet him."

The middle-aged man next to him had a smile on his face, looking very elegant.

Su Qingyun widened her almond-shaped eyes and looked at him in surprise, "Uncle Qi?"

"Qingyun, I didn't expect to see you again so soon." The smile on Qi Chu's face deepened.

Su Qingyun also thought it was a coincidence. He had always thought Uncle Qi looked like an intellectual, and it turned out that he was a professor of agronomy.

"Do you know each other?" This confused Fang Ruosheng.

"We only met once." Qi Chu said with a smile, "but it left a deep impression on me."

"Oh? It seems there is some story behind this. Let's talk about it in detail while we have dinner later. Now let's talk about business first." Fang Ruosheng greeted.

"good."

The composition of participants in today's seminar is much simpler. They are basically all from the test technology group. We talked about the harvester earlier. Su Qingyun's report has already mentioned the independent research and development of the harvester, so it is mainly her who will explain her ideas.

The meeting room was not big. Su Qingyun took his report and explained it in detail bit by bit. His expression was clear and logical, and everyone nodded in agreement.

"I think this approach is feasible. You can try it," Fang Ruosheng said. "If you have no other opinions, I will apply to higher authorities for funding to set up a research and development project team."
