Everyone ate, drank and chatted, and time passed by unknowingly. It was dark outside and the atmosphere was solemn. The house was bustling with activity, while outside it was freezing cold, as if it were two different seasons.
During the meal, Su Aimin's pot of wine was almost empty. Su Qingyun looked at Ji Yue's face, and the blush never faded. His eyes gradually became blurred, no longer as clear and bright as usual. It was visibly slowed down, and he took a second or two to react when his name was called.
"Ayue, don't drink anymore, that's enough." Qin Ying said, fearing that he was drunk.
"Hmm? Okay...ok, auntie, I know." Ji Yue's eyes were dazed for a moment, and he answered slowly.
Su Qingyun couldn't help but smile. Ji Yue was really cute in a slow-witted way.
"What are you laughing at?" Ji Yue looked at her smile and asked slowly.
"Nothing." Su Qingyun certainly wouldn't say that she was laughing at his silly look.
Ji Yue looked at her and smiled inexplicably.
Su Qingyun deliberately asked him, "Then what are you laughing at?"
"I don't know." Ji Yue leaned his head towards her and whispered, "If you are happy, I am happy."
Su Qingyun was stunned, looking at Ji Yue's misty eyes, which were full of herself. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, and then she looked at the people around her nervously. She found that everyone was chatting, and she breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't hear what Ji Yue had just said.
How come this guy is so bold after drinking a little bit of wine?
Su Qingyun felt sweet in her heart, but she couldn't help thinking that if her father had heard what Ji Yue said just now, he would probably have a dark face.
"Do you want to go to the yard?" Su Qingyun asked Ji Yue in a low voice.
She was afraid that he would say something shocking later, so she decided to go out and sober up.
"Yes!" Ji Yue nodded decisively. The erosion of alcohol made his mind confused. He would probably agree to whatever Su Qingyun said.
Su Qingyun stood up and said, "Grandma, Ji Yue and I are going out to play for a while."
"It's so cold, why are you going out?" Wu Guixiang frowned. "What if you get cold outside?"
"It's okay, grandma, we're dressed warmly." Su Qingyun smiled sweetly, "I just want to go out and play with fireworks."
In preparation for tomorrow's wedding, the family bought a lot of firecrackers and fireworks. Su Qingyun remembered that during the Chinese New Year two years ago, her father bought some fireworks and firecrackers and was scolded by her grandmother. Now, her grandmother took the initiative to spend a huge amount of money to buy them just to make the party lively.
"Okay, you two be careful." Wu Guixiang nodded in front of him. "Stay away when the fire is lit, and run away after it is lit." She reminded him worriedly.
"knew!"
Su Qingyun wrapped himself up and went out, followed by Ji Yue. Su Aimin looked at the backs of the two children and gritted his teeth.
Never mind, it’s New Year’s Day! He turned his eyes away, trying hard not to see it.
Since they were going to set off fireworks, Su Qingyun naturally took some small firework sticks to the yard. She didn't like the loud noises, so she only took small fireworks like poppers that she could play with in her hands.
"Give me some." Ji Yue remembered Wu Guixiang's instructions just now, and stretched out his hand to prevent Su Qingyun from lighting the fire.
"Okay." Su Qingyun handed him a few flowers in his hand.
As the cold wind blew outside, Ji Yue's hazy mind became clearer. He widened his eyes, struck a match, and lit a long, thin spark. Immediately, a dazzling spark burst out, flickering like a dream.
"Here." Ji Yue was afraid that the flower would go out, so he quickly handed it to Su Qingyun.
Su Qingyun held the thin stick with a flower pattern, looked at the dazzling light it emitted, and suddenly asked Ji Yue with a smile, "Do you know that this kind of firework has another name?"
"Huh? What?" Ji Yue asked casually.
His mind and eyes were filled with the girl in front of him. In the light of the fireworks, Su Qingyun's face was incredibly beautiful, her eyes sparkling. Ji Yue suddenly felt that he was about to get drunk again after just sobering up a little.
"Fairy wand." Su Qingyun said, "It also has a name called fairy wand."
"A fairy wand can burn for nine seconds, instantly releasing 18 billion flames, which is more than the number of stars in the Milky Way. The meaning is that I want to wish you a happy new year and a starry future."
Su Qingyun thought about the New Year's Eve in the future, when the circle of friends would be filled with photos of people holding fairy wands, and explained the meaning of the photos circulating on the Internet.
"Really?" Ji Yue responded softly.
He thought for a moment, then struck another match, lit a spark, and passed it to Su Qingyun, saying softly, "Then I wish you a happy new year, and a bright future."
Su Qingyun was stunned for a moment before she took it. Looking at the crackling and brilliant flames, a smile spread across her beautiful face. "Thank you."
No need to thank me, Ji Yue said silently in his heart. He only hoped that there would be a place for him in the starry sky of Su Qingyun in the future, to accompany her every day and shine with her.
He didn't expect that Su Qingyun would hand the flower back to him in a flash, "I wish you the best too."
This time, it was Ji Yue's turn to be stunned. Looking at Su Qingyun's bright eyes, perhaps it was the effect of alcohol, or perhaps the trembling in his heart could no longer be suppressed, he blurted out.
"Five years later, ten years later, or even longer, will we still be like we are now?" Like now, on the night when the old year turns to the new, will we quietly light a firework and wish each other well?
In the past two years, too many things have happened. Great people will leave, situations will change, and society will change rapidly. But Ji Yue hopes that no matter how the world changes, they can still be by each other's side like today. This is his only wish for the New Year.
Su Qingyun didn't expect him to ask this question so directly. She thought about it for a long time, so long that the bright light in Ji Yue's eyes was about to dim, before she answered him seriously.
