"Xiao Su, are you back?"
"Researcher Su, you're back!"
"Qingyun, I finally waited for you to come back."
Su Qingyun had just arrived at the launch center. People who met her along the way greeted her warmly, although they called her by different names, and she responded with a smile.
She carried her luggage back to her room and put her things in order.
"Knock, knock, knock!" Someone knocked on her door.
Su Qingyun walked over and opened the door. It was Chen Jingru.
"Sister Chen, why are you here?"
Chen Jingru was holding something in her hand. She smiled and said, "Didn't I go back home too? This is some cake I brought from home. I shared it with everyone. You were the only one not here. I just heard that you were back, so I brought it here right away. Come and try it."
She is from the south, and the pastries she brought were all delicate and small.
Su Qingyun picked up one and tasted it.
"How is it?" Chen Jingru asked her, "It's been sitting there for a few days now. Will it taste any worse?"
"No, it's delicious." Su Qingyun praised, "Sweet but not greasy, very good."
"As long as it tastes good, take these." Chen Jingru said with a smile. She didn't know what was wrong. She was only ten years older than Su Qingyun, but she always felt like she was raising her as her daughter.
"Thank you, Sister Chen."
Su Qingyun thought for a moment and said, "Oh, I brought some food with me, Sister Chen, wait a moment, I'll get it for you."
"Okay." Chen Jingru did not refuse.
Su Qingyun quickly took out the bags of food her grandmother had packed for her and gave some to Chen Jingru.
"so much?"
"My family is just pretending because they're afraid I'll starve." Su Qingyun said helplessly, "I told you but you didn't listen. There's nothing I can do."
"That's because they are worried about you." Chen Jingru understood the thoughts of these parents. It seemed that if they let their children take more things with them, they would take more of their worries with them. In this way, the children would think of them when they were eating.
"Yes." Su Qingyun also understood their good intentions.
"By the way, I have good news for you." Chen Jingru suddenly remembered something and said with a smile.
"What?"
"The manned space program you proposed last time is already under study and discussion. Who knows, maybe they can actually put it on the agenda."
"Really?" Su Qingyun couldn't believe it. She asked anxiously, "Did they say anything specific?"
"I don't know about that." Chen Jingru shook her head. "But since it's already being discussed, it should be just around the corner. Don't worry. Even if the plan is really established, we have to take it slow. There's still a long way to go."
"I know." Su Qingyun smiled, "I'm just too happy."
Before, the teacher said that she was too anxious, and she also realized her problem. It seemed that she was really too anxious, eager to prove and achieve many things, but she had really waited too long.
In her previous life, the experiment she had not completed was about manned space flight. Even though the technology for manned space flight had become very mature in later generations, there were still many problems. Su Qingyun was studying one of them. She wanted to develop better aerospace materials and strive for excellence.
For her, being able to conduct research on manned space flight would be equivalent to resuming her career in her previous life, which is of extraordinary significance.
Knowing that the matter was already being discussed above, Su Qingyun's suppressed heart began to fluctuate again, and she felt a little anxious, but she knew that all she could do was wait. She could not make any decision on the general direction of the research.
She worked diligently every day and waited patiently. Finally, one day, the same researchers from that day sat in the conference room again.
Recently, everyone had heard some rumors, and when they saw Chief Zhao calling everyone to a meeting, they all had a premonition.
"I called everyone here today because there's something big going on." Chief Zhao looked at everyone's excited and expectant faces and smiled. "What's that big thing? I'm sure you've all guessed a little bit."
Hearing this, everyone's breathing became heavier.
Su Qingyun was so excited that his hands were shaking slightly under the table.
Director Zhao took out a document and placed it on the table. "I just received this morning. It's a document issued by the Academy of Sciences. It's about the next development direction of our launch center."
Everyone looked at the document with burning eyes.
"You are right, the higher-ups have already decided that the next task for our launch center is manned space flight!" Chief Zhao said this word by word, emphasizing the last four words with particular emphasis.
"good!"
One researcher couldn't help but shout "good!", his face flushed, and he wanted to clap his hands.
From ancient times to the present, the Chinese people seem to have a dream of going to the sky. From myths to folk tales, there are all kinds of beautiful imaginations about the sky and the universe. Until now, it seems to have become an obsession for scientific researchers, especially those who are engaged in aerospace. They dream of going to the sky, no, they dream of allowing people to go to the sky.
"Don't be too happy, everyone." Zhao smiled, but he still wanted to give everyone a cold shoulder. "Manned space flight is a massive undertaking. I'm sure you all know it without me saying anything. It's like we haven't even taken the first step of the Long March yet. The road ahead is even longer, with countless difficulties and obstacles. Everyone should be mentally prepared."
"Because it's August 1980, the authorities named the manned space program Project 808. Project 808 requires the efforts of not only our launch center, but also many research institutes and laboratories across the country. It requires everyone's joint efforts."
