Chapter 30 Buying a Trap
When Lin Qin reported the final amount, Lin Yi was stunned for a long time, muttering: "This is almost as much as four or five workers' monthly salary."
Lin Qin said happily: "Dad, you haven't counted what we earned yesterday! If you count them all together, it's more than two hundred."
Lin Yi reacted, his heart was burning, "Girl, if you continue at this pace, buying land and building a house is not just a dream!"
At this moment, he was even more excited than Lin Qin.
To be honest, there was nothing wrong with Chen Wenjun in his eyes. His biggest flaw was that he was poor and had no land.
Now his biggest worry is about to be resolved, he must be excited!
Once this person's mood improved, all his illnesses disappeared. Lin Yi even felt that he could walk around.
Lin Qin didn't dare to let him do anything wrong, so she told the two children to keep an eye on Lin Yi.
Chen Wenjun ate a steamed bun with pickles and half a bowl of snails and was full. He immediately rushed to dig the trap.
The trap has been set up for a day and a night, but I don’t know what the harvest will be.
When the first trap was dragged out of the water, Chen Wenjun shook his head and checked it. By the time the trap came up, the corners of his mouth were almost stretched to his ears.
"Look, are there two pounds of river shrimp in here?"
Lin Qin's eyes lit up, "There must be! There may be more! Pour it out first."
Chen Wenjun handed the trap to her and went to dig the second one.
This one is similar to the first one. The river shrimps in these two traps alone can make up to five kilograms, along with some bamboo fish and small crucian carp, a few snails and several half-grown river crabs.
Lin Qin was busy sorting them. The small river crabs didn't have much meat, so they were just right for the children to play with.
Put the river shrimp in one bucket and the others separately.
Lin Yi laid six traps.
Except for one which didn't yield much, the others were pretty good.
Those river shrimps probably weighed more than ten kilograms.
You really need to sell it quickly to avoid losing money.
It's not even one o'clock yet.
Chen Wenjun hurriedly went ashore to sell river shrimps.
Lin Qin continued fishing on the boat. Following the method of fishing bait that Chen Wenjun taught her yesterday, she had a good harvest today.
When Chen Wenjun got home at around three o'clock, Lin Qin had already caught more than a dozen fish.
He quickly gave the money he got from selling river shrimp to Lin Qin, "Those river shrimp weighed 13.3 jin, rounded off the decimals, 13 jin, 1.9 yuan per jin, and sold for 24.70 yuan. Eight bamboo shoots sold for 5.76 yuan, and I gave three palm-sized crucian carps as a bonus. Boss Zheng gave me 30.5 yuan. Keep them all for you. I'll go set up the traps.
Boss Zheng said it would be better if they could deliver it before 10 a.m. I will go to Grandpa's place and ask if he has any extra traps to sell to me. I will buy five or six more."
Nowadays, people buy the thread and make their own fishing nets.
Chen Wenjun doesn't have that much time, and Lin Qin doesn't know how to do this job, so they can only find someone to buy them. The price is not expensive, only four or five yuan each.
After dinner.
The trap was put down.
Chen Wenjun rowed the fishing boat to a Tanka family's home and quickly jumped over.
"Is Grandpa home?"
As he shouted, a woman in her forties came out and asked, "How come you have time to come here?"
The woman said as she glanced at Lin Qin on Chen Wenjun's boat, her eyes gleaming with gossip, "Is this your wife?"
Chen Wenjun nodded, showing his eight teeth, "Yes! My wife Lin Qin!"
"What a great job, boy! You married such a beautiful wife without any noise! Just invite her to my house for dinner tonight!" Zhou Shuifang said enthusiastically.
Chen Wenjun quickly refused, "Aunt, let's do it another day! I'll ask Grandpa to get a few traps and then go back. The weather is good enough to work these days. I'll come back when I'm not busy."
Zhou Shuifang could not stop nodding, her eyes never leaving Lin Qin, "That's easy! We have two new traps at home that have only been used once. Your grandpa and Uncle Wenfa went to transport goods with others. Without them, the things are useless, so I'll give them to you first."
"Going to transport goods again? It's not time to release the rafts yet!" Chen Wenjun frowned slightly.
Zhou Shuifang shook her head. "We have to wait for a heavy rain to set up a raft. Why set up a raft now? They are going to transport tea leaves. They say they are going to Xiamen Bay. It will take several days. We can earn 20 or 30 yuan per trip. The two of them can earn 50 or 60 yuan."
"That's quite a lot." Chen Wenjun praised.
Zhou Shuifang obviously thought the same thing, and smiled from ear to ear, "Wenjun! Now that you have a wife, you have someone to take care of you. You can go and deliver goods on the ship, and at least you can earn some extra money. The little money you make from fishing can't feed so many mouths."
She was really worried that Lin Qin would run away because she couldn't bear the hardship, and then Chen Wenjun would be alone again.
Chen Wenjun nodded perfunctorily, took the two traps and looked at them carefully. After making sure there was nothing wrong with them, he quickly gave the money to Zhou Shuifang and returned to his boat.
Chen Wenjun heaved a sigh of relief when the boat went farther away. "Aunt Shuifang is good in every way except that she is a nagging person. If you stay with her, she can talk to you all day long!"
Lin Qin couldn't stop laughing.
She knew Zhou Shuifang's family. In her previous life, after the family knew that there was a woman on Chen Wenjun's boat, Zhou Shuifang came up and kept talking to her. She didn't say a word, but the other party could talk for a long time.
Lin Qin really couldn't resist that familiarity.
With two more traps, Chen Wenjun focused all his attention on them. After all, if he caught the nets every day, he could earn about 40 yuan a day, which was equivalent to a worker's monthly salary.
Add to that the fishing that Lin Qin did and the bamboo fish that he caught with his fishing net, which could be sold for a large sum, and it was safe to say that his daily income would not be less than fifty yuan. If he continued to save like this, he would have more than two thousand yuan in less than two months.
By then, he will have the confidence to go to the Land and Resources Bureau to inquire about the price of the deserted island.
Now that their lives had a purpose, the two of them were full of energy and went out to sell fish almost as soon as they opened their eyes. They delivered the river shrimps, bamboo fish and some unsold big fish to Guoxing Hotel before 10 a.m. and then returned to the fishing boat to cook and eat.
After an hour's break at noon, we resume work.
Lin Qin went fishing while Chen Wenjun set traps and caught fish. In the evening, they cooked, and after putting the children to sleep, they would go fishing for another two hours at night before calling it a day.
In the midst of the busyness, Lin Qin, Lin Yi and Liu Yaya have been living on the fishing boat for a month.
As the weather was getting hotter and the children still had no clothes, Lin Qin originally wanted to save money and cut Chen Ping'an's hair herself.
Later I thought, my family is not short of the few cents for a haircut, so it would be better to take my child to the barber shop to get a haircut.
He just mentioned this to Chen Pingan.
Chen Pingan was so scared that he shook his head immediately, "Just let Auntie cut it for me, or let Dad cut it for me."
Lin Qin touched his head and laughed, "Your father cut your hair into a toilet lid, it's too ugly, and I don't have the skills to do it. Be good and listen, let's go to the barber shop, and I'll take you out for a walk and buy you something."
Liu Yaya, who was standing by, immediately shouted excitedly, "I want to go too! I want to go too! Brother Ping An, I'll go with you!"
