Chapter 1023 Mocking

Stephen's loud voice was particularly loud at the scene, and people around were already turning to watch the commotion. Many people pricked up their ears to listen, and some of them looked at Lu Feng and whispered among themselves, wondering who this Asian man was.

“Mr. George may have had too much to drink and is just talking nonsense. Our relationship is quite friendly.” Lu Feng covered up his words and said, “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll have to excuse myself.”

"What's up with you? How many people do you know here?" Stephen grabbed Lu Feng's arm and said, "Let me tell you, if you want to get in here, you'll have to come to me and get to know more people. Today's occasion is a great opportunity for you to get in with Sean. I'll introduce you to everyone."

Sean whispered to himself, "Let's leave. This guy is unreliable, he talks nonsense, and everyone just laughs at him."

Lu Feng pulled his hand away and was about to say he was going to the restroom when Stephen spoke up first, shouting, "Let me introduce you to someone. This Asian man may be young, but he's already working for a multinational company. He's definitely a success story in our country, but he got bullied by George. That's right, it's George from Beko!"

The audience burst into laughter. How cowardly must someone be to be bullied by George?

“I suggest this gentleman make some friends here today, and tomorrow he can go find George and tell him that if he bullies you again, he should short his company’s stock. He’ll be terrified!” said a man in his forties.

The audience burst into laughter again; this was definitely a joke in the local business community.

Stephen, as if possessing a performative personality, stood next to Lu Feng with a smile and said, "This is a good idea, Mr. Lu. I hope you won't be angry. I am definitely the most frank person here. Don't worry, I'll talk to him about this for you. I'm just that straightforward!"

Lu Feng looked at him and said in a deep voice, "Are you this 'frank' when you're dealing with the presidents of large local corporations?"

Lu Feng's words clearly provoked dissatisfaction among many people. It was a good thing for a foreigner like him to stand there and let everyone "get to know him," so why did he have to come out and retaliate?

“People need to be aware of their own position. Don’t always compare yourself to those in higher positions. Their frank communication with you is also a way of taking care of you,” said an older white man next to me. “You need to learn to reflect on your words and actions.”

Seeing that the crowd was growing, Lu Feng realized this wasn't the time to cause trouble. He turned to Stephen and said, "I'm going to the restroom. Excuse me."

“You’ll never make it in London like this. I’m trying to help you, and you don’t even appreciate it.” Stephen shook his head, looking quite disappointed.

Lu Feng walked towards the bathroom without looking back. Seeing that Stephen wanted to say something to him, Sean quickly made an excuse to leave.

The group chatted amongst themselves. They didn't know Lu Feng, but Sean had heard of him. They talked about how Lu Feng was past his prime, started hanging out with some low-class foreigners, and was being manipulated by George, which was quite funny.

In the eyes of the people here, a boss like George is simply beneath their notice. Of course, it wouldn't be so easy for these people to manipulate George.

As the field outside began to bustle with activity, some football cheerleaders entered, and the crowd headed outside, creating a very lively scene.

When Lu Feng came out of the restroom, Sean stepped forward to comfort him, saying, "That's just how these banquets are; they flatter the powerful and fawn over the weak. Don't take some of what they say to heart."

"It's alright, I know him all too well. It's just that important matters are at hand right now, and I don't have time to waste on this kind of person. Otherwise, I would definitely have a friendly and in-depth conversation with him," Lu Feng said with a smile.

Sean was quite surprised that Lu Feng could remain so calm despite being ridiculed by so many people. This alone was something that most young people couldn't do.

After chatting for a few minutes, a waiter jogged over and asked, "Are you Mr. Lu Feng from Jiafeng?"

"It's me, what's wrong?"

"Our distinguished guests are already in the reception room on the second floor. Mr. John asked me to invite you over."
