A few minutes later, the phone rang in Lu Feng's office. Unfortunately, Lu Feng was still in a meeting in the conference room. In this mature business society, as long as you have money, you will not lack people. Since yesterday, people have been joining the company and starting to accept jobs. A large number of reserve lecturers have also been recruited for training.
Meanwhile, Beko's new company has started operating and will launch its first event today. These elderly people are quite adept at their work. Due to the tight schedule, they simply replaced the original script and went straight to the event. Even so, there were still many mishaps on the spot.
The lecturer mentioned Lu Feng's name more than once, and the parts about helping the poor, global companies, being oppressed by the rich, and helping people achieve success were all not quite right.
That's how speeches work. If you want others to believe, you have to believe yourself. All the speech routines that Lu Feng prepared were based on his own experiences, climbing up from the bottom step by step. Even though they contained a lot of persuasive elements, the overall presentation was still very reasonable.
But once these things are separated from Lu Feng, they are like a soulless entity. These lecturers certainly know what kind of company Beko is; everyone in the area knows. If they hesitate even slightly on stage, the audience will lose their immersion.
The effect was greatly reduced, but half of the people still stayed. Seeing such a low retention rate, the lecturers gathered together to discuss the matter and concluded that the problem lay with the loans.
Inside the office, Lu Feng addressed the group, saying, "These next few days are crucial. The newly recruited staff need to adapt as quickly as possible. How are the negotiations with the law firm going?"
“They’ll be coming to discuss things today. The prices might be a bit high; they’re all top-tier law firms in London!” Manager Li replied.
"Market price is fine. There shouldn't be any problem with Sunday's event for 10,000 people, right?" Lu Feng said to the crowd. "This matter needs to be arranged properly. Those that need to be registered should be registered. Don't let another illegal gathering happen. Then there are buses. Those who don't have cars should be allowed to ride. Create a good atmosphere. Make everyone wear their best clothes and treat it as a grand event for the poor."
"We are fully prepared in this regard."
"Although many people have left, the activities are still going on as usual, without any problems."
Lu Feng felt that he was getting tired of talking for two hours at a time these past two days, so he said, "Let's find some more performance groups to fill the time. Don't bother with celebrities. Find some pretty girls to dance or something to warm up the atmosphere. I'll figure out the guests."
"Any other questions?"
Everyone said no, and Lu Feng stood up, said "Meeting adjourned," and walked towards the door.
As soon as he stepped out of the conference room, a clerk was already waiting for him. She hurriedly said, "Mr. Lu, Mr. John, the president of Schroder Investment Group, called you and said he has something important to discuss."
"Important? Not that important, I understand!" Lu Feng wasn't in a hurry. He ate a bite of breakfast before leisurely returning to his office.
He lit a cigarette before calling John back.
"Hey, what's up with the call?" Lu Feng asked casually.
"What did you say? You've been holding this morning meeting until now?" John's voice was laced with anger.
"I didn't eat breakfast this morning, but I had lunch after the meeting. What's up?"
“What have you been blabbing about? Now the entire London business community is talking about me. I have no problem with you pushing Schroders to take the fall, but don’t push me out there! I’m being condemned by everyone, and everyone is cursing me, saying that I created a company like yours that has harmed the British people!” John became more and more angry as he spoke.
"I didn't say that, and I didn't write that newspaper either. I've been busy with the 10,000-person event lately, and more than a hundred people have been poached. How could I have time to deal with that?" Lu Feng denied repeatedly.
John knew all this, but he had no evidence, and there was nothing he could do if Lu Feng denied it.
“There’s something else. What do you need a private jet for?” John asked. “The board of directors finds this proposal incredible, and after you buy it, it will become your personal property. The company will have to pay for the daily maintenance costs. Do you really need a private jet?”
“But CEOs of large European companies all have them!” Lu Feng said, pretending to be competitive. “I’m not lacking in any way. Besides, I’ve contributed so much to the company, and I’ve never received a single dividend. Before the company was very successful, I was as poor as a ghost.”
“Isn’t it your duty to contribute to the company? It’s your company, and besides, the company covers all your living expenses.” John felt this expense was too much and said, “The company is facing difficulties right now, you should understand the board of directors. Once we get through this difficult time, the board of directors will approve a separate dividend and bonus for you, how about that?”
Lu Feng was speechless when he heard this. Using his own company to make grand promises to himself, he thought only investment companies would do something like that.
“I belong to the company, I’m even working for you. It’s just a plane. Besides, we’ll be busy with international business in the future, and it will be needed to receive important people. It’s very necessary. If it really doesn’t work out, we can hold a board meeting and see what the other directors think.” Lu Feng had no choice but to find an excuse to put the matter aside for now and continued, “Sunday is the event for 10,000 people. You should go too.”
"What am I supposed to do?" John sensed something was wrong and said, "Don't tie me to Jiafeng too closely. You still have to rely on yourself."
“I know, it’s such a big event, you have to show up. Besides, you’re just a guest, so just go and show your support!” Lu Feng said thoughtfully, “You don’t need to worry too much about public opinion. The Beko issue will definitely be resolved before Sunday.”
