Chapter 1132 Huang Youwei: I'm the Protagonist

"President Tan has been arrested?"

Lu Feng was genuinely surprised that things had escalated to this point. He hurriedly inquired about the details and was told that the person was with Director Hou and was temporarily safe.

Young Master Zhou meant that they had to deal with Huang Youwei in the next few days, otherwise they would be in a very passive position.

Lu Feng didn't readily agree on the phone. He mumbled a few words and hung up, then sat on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and began to ponder the matter.

I'm just here to do business, but these people are my mortal enemies!

Offending Huang Youwei is not a good thing. Lu Feng doesn't believe that Huang Youwei got to where he is today by being honest and hardworking. The conversation with the provincial leaders that day clearly showed that Huang Youwei's relationship with Secretary Li was not ordinary.

After considering the network of relationships involved, Lu Feng didn't want to get involved, but now the issue wasn't whether he wanted to or not.

At 2 p.m., the city held another meeting. At the meeting, Huang Youwei gave a scathing critique of local state-owned enterprises, accusing them of failing to contribute to the local economy, having a cumbersome internal structure, and being overstaffed.

Although state-owned enterprises were not under his jurisdiction, he was able to summon all the local banks under his control, enterprises that the disciplinary committee could oversee, and other entities. He then criticized them for an hour without naming them, stating that he would take strong measures to combat the loss of state-owned assets. He also emphasized that state-owned enterprises belong to the country and are the money bags of all the people, not to individual owners, and that everyone must have the right attitude.

Suddenly, the heads of state-owned enterprises felt a different kind of tension. Nowadays, state-owned enterprises are basically equivalent to private enterprises, and many heads have absolute power within the company. If a strict investigation were to be conducted, none of these people would be clean.

Lu Feng spent the entire afternoon pondering this matter. For Jiafeng, the communications business had to be developed. With other businesses reaching their peak, it was imperative to expand into other areas, whether it was to lay the foundation for the domestic mobile phone market or to provide a base market for the chip market.

If we want to keep going, we have to get past this hurdle. Everything is interconnected, and if any link goes wrong, the whole thing will collapse.

At 4:30 p.m., Lu Feng decided to call Huang Youwei to get a feel for the situation. The call was answered by his secretary, who said that Huang Youwei was in a meeting and would call him back in a bit.

After the meeting, Huang Youwei walked towards his office, his secretary following closely behind and whispering, "Lu Feng called and wants to speak with you."

Huang Youwei smiled slightly upon hearing this, seemingly having already seen through what Lu Feng wanted to say, and casually said, "Give him a call later. He's a businessman after all, but I have to thank him."

"Won't this person cause some problems? I heard he's been getting quite close to President Zhou these past few days," the secretary replied.

"It doesn't matter. This guy is just bait. Once he arrives, the deal is done. As for how the 'eel' wriggles and twists when it bites the bait, it won't stop us from slashing it in the head." Huang Youwei seemed to be in a good mood and said to his secretary, "This kid is very cunning. It's not easy for him to be bait. As for the benefits he's thinking of, can I let him take them? If a businessman takes advantage, it's a huge loss of state-owned assets."

Hearing this, the secretary understood how Huang Youwei viewed Lu Feng. Now it was certain that when Lu Feng called Huang Youwei to ask to get involved in the communications business, it was like a pillow coming to someone who was sleepy. Lu Feng was definitely not the main actor in this matter; Huang Youwei was.

Once in the office, Huang Youwei picked up the phone and called Lu Feng. After the call connected, Huang Youwei asked with a smile, "Mr. Lu, is there something you need? I was in a meeting just now. I've been busy these past few days."

"I'm fine, it's just that the business negotiations with the Post and Telecommunications Group haven't made any progress. I still want to know if this deal will actually work out or not?" Lu Feng asked.

"Whether it works or not, you know, don't you?" Huang Youwei retorted.

"I know? Oh my, what do I know? I've been here for several days and attended several meetings, but there's not a single definite piece of information. In any case, this matter is beneficial to the development of Jiangsu and the people." Lu Feng felt that if they continued fighting like this, they might delay him, so he tentatively said, "I have a rough idea. How about Jiafeng, the Post and Telecommunications Group, and the Municipal Government jointly invest in setting up a company?"

Huang Youwei laughed when he heard Lu Feng's compromise, saying, "I'm not a businessman. You said it yourself that it's an immature idea and it definitely won't work. Don't worry, things might change in a few hours. Lu Feng, I know you're very smart and good at navigating between various interest groups. But sometimes you have to be naive. Watching someone kill can easily lead to getting splattered with blood."

"Huh? Is it that serious? I'm an honest man, Secretary Huang, don't scare me." Lu Feng's heart skipped a beat when he heard this, and he changed his address to Secretary Huang, continuing, "You know me, my greatest strength isn't intelligence, it's obedience!"

"Don't worry, I'll definitely get things done. You've taken advantage of me quite a bit, but times have changed. We can't hold onto old ideas anymore." Huang Youwei said into the phone, "I don't want to say anything more. What's past is past. The present can never be the past. I have a meeting, so I'll hang up now."

After hanging up the phone, the secretary next to him reminded him, "Did he understand it?"

"This guy's got a real knack for it!" Huang Youwei said, tidying up the folder before heading towards the door.

Inside the hotel room, Lu Feng sat on the sofa, smoking one cigarette after another. The quartz clock on the wall ticked away, and the room was extremely quiet.
