Chapter 1140 Visiting Relatives

The elderly people in both families also have difficulty walking, and there would be many troubles if they went to the city. It's not as comfortable as staying in the village.

Upon arrival, they naturally invited him to eat. The elderly were all very happy to see Lu Feng, asking him all sorts of questions. They didn't understand anything about business or anything like that; they just cared whether he was married and had children.

I visited two places in one day, and both of them advised Lu Feng that he should find someone to settle down with, since he was almost thirty years old and it was time to settle down.

They heard there was a very nice girl, and the two elders advised Lu Feng to seize the opportunity, saying that finding a wife these days is not easy.

Lu Feng didn't say much. Besides giving each family some New Year's gifts, he also gave them tens of thousands of yuan and asked if they would like to move to the city. Both elderly people said they were used to living in the village and wouldn't be able to adapt to city life.

Before leaving, Lu Feng felt that he should rebuild the house for the two elderly people. As for how many relatives would be involved, Lu Feng did not want to think too much about it. At most, it would just cost several times more.

In recent years, many of his relatives have made a fortune, and the elderly in his family are naturally not poor. However, Lu Feng still feels that he has not taken good care of them, and compared to his big villa, his family is indeed shabby.

When I got home that day, before I even got out of the car, I found a middle-aged woman standing at my door. She looked to be in her forties and was wearing a floral cotton-padded jacket.

Lu Feng's mother got out of the car and hurriedly said, "It's so cold, what are you doing standing here, Erwa's mother?"

"Isn't this good news for you? That girl originally said she wouldn't be back until close to the New Year, but she called back yesterday and said she'll be back tomorrow," the woman said excitedly.

"Thank you for waiting here in this cold weather. Please come inside." Mom politely invited us in.

Once inside, Lu Feng sized up the matchmaker, and she sized him up in return, praising him for not looking his age at all. She said he was almost thirty, good-looking, and very energetic, and that the woman would definitely fall for him at first sight.

Lu Feng wasn't sure if she was genuinely praising him or just being polite. Despite being used to grand occasions, he was at a loss for words and could only stand there dumbfounded.

Before leaving, Lu Feng's mother gave him a lot of dried fruit and candy, and the two sides exchanged polite refusals.

At the dinner table that evening, my father, who is usually a man of few words, spoke up this time and said that if Lu Feng takes a liking to you, you should get married and have a child soon. What kind of life is it if you don't have a child?

Lu Feng didn't quite understand their thinking, but since it had only been a few days in the past two years, he could only nod in agreement.

When the topic of children came up at home, it suddenly reminded Lu Feng of Zhang Fengxia, who was far away on the other side of the ocean. After dinner, Lu Feng calculated the time difference and tried to call her using the home phone, but it turned out that the family hadn't activated international lines yet, so he couldn't get through.

He had no choice but to drive to a phone booth in the county center. As soon as he got out of the car, Lu Feng stomped his feet hard to shake off the snow and mud. Suddenly, he heard a woman's voice shouting not far away, "Stop bothering me, okay? There's no way we can be together!"

"How is that impossible? How could you be like this? What have I done to wrong you?" the boy questioned.

As darkness fell and the wind picked up, the streets became deserted. In this place where entertainment was scarce, the presence of such a spectacle was like a fireplace on a winter night, instantly igniting a thirst for gossip. People squinted and peered into the dim light.

"You're great, but my mom told me I could never marry someone like you." The girl struggled to free her hand from the boy's and begged him to let go.

"Just tell me, what do you want? Tell me, even if you just want that star, I'll pluck it for you." The boy was putting on a melodramatic act, but his local dialect made the scene look a little comical.

"Do you own a car?" the girl asked back.

"Didn't your family say they wanted a motorcycle at first? I've already bought this Southern 125. Now you're telling me you want a car?" The boy shouted angrily. "What kind of family can afford a car these days? Let alone a car, how many people in the surrounding area can afford a 125cc motorcycle?"

"I don't care, if you can't afford it, someone else can!"

The weather was too cold. Lu Feng wanted to watch the whole show, but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating. The wind felt like knives cutting his face. Most importantly, this kind of ordinary show was really boring.

Lu Feng tucked his hands into his sleeves and walked toward the phone booth!
