Lu Feng didn't know how to explain it to her, and since he hadn't planned on it anyway, he simply said, "I've been working in the south all these years. The cost of living is high there, and I started a company there, which has been losing money."
Upon hearing this, both the matchmaker and Fangfang were taken aback. What Lu Feng said was true; Jiafeng really didn't make any money. However, Jiafeng not making money didn't mean he wasn't making any money at all.
Fangfang's gentle expression quickly turned cold as she sat there and looked at the matchmaker, asking, "Didn't you say you owned a factory? That you were very rich? You don't even own a Santana, and you lose money every year. I can't possibly go with him to pay off debts, can I?"
"They live in a two-story villa, that Lu Feng," the matchmaker asked Lu Feng, "You also have a villa in the south, right? How much money do you lose every year?"
"The loss wasn't too great; there aren't any villas like those in the South," Lu Feng said helplessly.
Upon hearing this, the matchmaker became anxious and stood up, saying to Lu Feng, "Come out here for a moment."
As they left the private room, the waiter was serving the dishes. The two stood in the hallway. The matchmaker said anxiously, "It's a blind date, why do you say all sorts of things? You're supposed to be doing business like this? Be smart! Your family is much better off than most, exaggerate a bit, okay?"
"I think that a relationship needs more sincerity and less falsehood to last," Lu Feng said to the matchmaker.
“You look like an honest man. How could someone like you possibly have a woman? As the saying goes, a woman is made by deceiving, coaxing, getting close to you, having children, and settling down. That’s how it is. If you coax her home and have a child, she’ll be devoted to you.” The matchmaker advised Lu Feng.
"I didn't realize you were doing assembly-line work like this," Lu Feng sighed helplessly. "I value love quite a bit."
“I understand love. Love develops into affection. You need to find a way to express your love for her now, instead of saying those discouraging things right away.” The matchmaker asked softly, “You’re such a grown man, don’t you want to experience love?”
“I…” Lu Feng felt that the love she spoke of was completely different from the love he spoke of.
"Just listen to your aunt. I've been through this. Look at her, her figure, all curvy and voluptuous, plus her education. What more could you want? Marry her and enjoy yourself tonight." The matchmaker said as she walked inside, clearly not wanting to get entangled with Lu Feng any longer.
Lu Feng had no choice but to follow her inside. He felt that this matchmaker shouldn't be called a matchmaker, but a madam. But what she said was true. Nowadays, blind dates are all about coaxing and deception. Many people borrow a suit, get a pager, and pretend to be a business owner because they have relatives in business. After getting married and having a child, they find themselves penniless and helpless.
Once inside the private room, most of the food had been served, and Fangfang had already started eating in silence. She wasn't very satisfied with Lu Feng; she had been on many blind dates over the past year and had seen plenty of these kinds of swindlers. Adhering to the principle of not letting a free meal go to waste, she decided to eat as much as she could.
"I just asked Lu Feng. His business in the south is just starting out, so it's normal to suffer some losses. It's not a big loss, and he'll make it back in a few years. There are people here to help him manage the factory; he just needs to collect the money. As for you, you won't have to do anything after you marry him. You can stay here if you want, and go to the south if you want." The matchmaker painted a rosy picture from the side. "As for buying a Santana and a small villa, that's not a problem for them. The main thing is the person. What do you think of this person?"
Fangfang stared at Lu Feng and sized him up. In terms of appearance and spirit, he was indeed good. Even though he was older than her, he had the feel of a big city person, so she naturally liked him.
"Let's get to know him better. Maybe I can visit his home sometime," Fangfang said.
"Isn't this a good thing? Let's eat first." The matchmaker was already drooling over the table full of dishes.
Lu Feng chatted casually at the dinner table, and from the snippets of conversation, he guessed that she had at most graduated from junior high school, and that she was the kind who didn't pay attention in class.
The matchmaker kept hinting to Lu Feng to sing his praises, but Lu Feng had no intention of doing so. Fangfang suggested that since the New Year was coming soon, she wanted to go to the market in the afternoon to buy some clothes or something.
After lunch, we went to the market. The clothes there were very cheap; a cotton coat cost only a few dozen yuan, while the more expensive ones cost over a hundred. Fangfang bought a lot of clothes, and Lu Feng paid for them all.
She began to be satisfied with Lu Feng. Judging from the way he paid, he must be a wealthy man. The last man she went on a blind date with treated money like it was a piece of her own flesh.
Around 3 PM, after putting all her things in the car and preparing to leave, a Santana pulled up in front of her. A young man got out of the driver's seat, saw Fangfang, and shouted, "What are you doing here? Who is he?"
Lu Feng sized up the man; it was none other than the guy from last night.
Wang Erfang also tensed up when she saw the man, and said to Lu Feng, "Let's get in the car and go."
The man wouldn't budge, rushing forward to question Lu Feng about who he was and why he was buying clothes there. He angrily said, "Didn't you say I didn't have a Santana? I borrowed one, and I can buy one by selling my motorcycle and borrowing some more money. What are you doing now?"
The market was already crowded, and with such a spectacle, everyone immediately gathered around. Wang Erfang felt embarrassed by being stared at by so many people, her face flushed with anger. She stared at the man without saying a word, only urging Lu Feng to open the car door quickly.
"They're just friends, don't overthink it." Lu Feng opened the car door, let Wang Erfang get in first, took out a cigarette from his pocket and offered it to her, asking, "Is she your girlfriend?"
"Is she your woman? It's the New Year, and you're dragging someone else's woman to buy clothes. Do you think you're so great? You look so respectable, but you're doing this kind of thing? Wang Erfang, get out of the car!!" The man was furious, banging on the car window and cursing at Lu Feng.
