"Lu Feng! Someone like you doesn't deserve to stay at the company. You'd better get out of here right now..."
Lu Feng hung up the phone before the call was even finished.
"Who is it?" Jiang Xiaoyan asked. Although she couldn't understand English, she could tell that the tone on the other end was very irritable.
"Nobody, just a good brother from before," Lu Feng said casually, patting Jiang Xiaoyan on the shoulder and saying, "It's getting late, you should go to sleep too."
Jiang Xiaoyan hummed in agreement, stood up and walked upstairs. The phone rang again, and Lu Feng hung up immediately. He stood up to go upstairs, but the phone rang again.
"Go ahead and answer it. Whatever it is, we need to talk it out," Jiang Xiaoyan said, turning around.
Lu Feng didn't say anything, walked over and unplugged the phone line. Just as he returned to the bedroom, his phone rang again, and he had no choice but to answer it.
"Can you communicate properly? If you can, we can talk. If not, then forget it," Lu Feng asked John.
“Lu Feng, I’ve worked in investment banking for over twenty years and invested in hundreds of companies. You’re the most outrageous person I’ve ever met, bar none. Your management of companies, your blatant disregard for rules and your tyrannical attitude, are disgusting! Disgusting!!” John roared.
“I vaguely remember when we met in the bathroom in New York, you weren’t like this. You’ve changed. We were best buddies back then.” Lu Feng sighed. “It hasn’t been that long, time flies, and you’ve already started talking to me like this.”
"Is it meaningful for you to bring this up? Didn't you deceive me in the first place? If you hadn't used Lewinsky as bait, would I have fallen for your trick? And then you used high-end manufacturing as a cover, what have you accomplished in the past few years?" John questioned.
"What are those overseas R&D centers for? How much has Jiafeng's market share increased in China in the last two years? Are you blind? If we hadn't been suppressed, how much would Jiafeng's overseas market have grown? I can't do it? You can! If you're so great, why don't you go against the US? Find a way to get me into the global market, and you blame me for not being good enough? Why don't you look at yourself?" Lu Feng stood outside the room, leaning against the railing, and scolded, "If I cooperated with the Americans, do you believe Jiafeng could sweep across Europe?"
John was taken aback by the question, which made it sound as if he was incompetent.
"Stop giving me that nonsense. What's going on with the African tungsten mine? Do you even know what you've done? Such a huge sum of money was spent on buying the tungsten mine, why didn't you include it in the annual report? Just how bad is Jiafeng Group's finances? Let me tell you, starting tomorrow, I'll be sending an auditing team from Europe to audit Jiafeng Group's accounts!" John said viciously. "If there are serious discrepancies in the accounts, you can expect to go to jail!"
"I'm in jail? Why wasn't the money for buying the tungsten mine included in the annual report? It cost a total of 276 million US dollars. Because we were afraid of attracting unnecessary attention, my daughter held the shares on my behalf. The rights to the profits and enjoyment are all under the company's name. The entire acquisition was listed separately in an envelope at the bottom of the annual report at the time!" Lu Feng said.
envelope?
John remembered that there really was an envelope. When the annual report was delivered, it was a whole bunch of random stuff, such as personal showcases of senior executives, the company's 1996 development roadmap, a group management overview, and there was even a sheet titled "President Lu's Hard Work in 1996".
John tossed aside all the fancy stuff, including a small envelope underneath, which he didn't dare open, fearing it might contain a message about how hard President Lu worked, persevered through difficulties, and strived to benefit the board of directors.
"This should be on the company's balance sheet. What's the point of putting it in an envelope?" John said irritably.
"The board of directors didn't stipulate that we can't put part of the company's balance sheet in an envelope, did it?" Lu Feng retorted. "You didn't stipulate that! You can hold a board meeting, have everyone raise their hands to vote, and if it passes, we won't put it in an envelope anymore."
“Fuck you!” John completely broke down.
"Go to hell! You can't even take care of yourself, and you're blaming me? If you want to send an audit team, go ahead and send one. Don't call me again, I'm going to sleep!" Lu Feng said and hung up the phone.
John sat there listening to the busy tone on the phone, thinking about how the thing was in the envelope, and felt extremely frustrated. How could he have entrusted such a bastard!
He had already decided in his heart that he had to make Lu Feng get out of his seat on the board of directors!
