In the evening, Lu Feng went downstairs and drove home. Jiang Xiaoyan hadn't returned yet. Duo Duo had brought a few classmates and were making a ruckus at home. Lu Feng thought they were too noisy, so he simply played a DVD for them.
"Dad, I'm hungry!" Duo Duo exclaimed. "You didn't bring me a present when you came back!"
"If you get hungry, check the fridge for something to eat and heat it up in the microwave. As for gifts, there's not much to bring from Hong Kong. Your mom can take you there during your summer vacation," Lu Feng said casually.
It was already late at night. Lu Feng calculated the time difference and confirmed that it was morning in the United States. He picked up his phone, went out, lit a cigarette, and walked towards the beach not far away. He dialed Zhang Fengxia's number while enjoying the sea breeze.
The phone rang several times without being answered, and Lu Feng began to worry. Finally, someone answered, and the person on the other end asked in fluent English, "Who is this?"
"This is Lu Feng. Fengxia, how have you been lately?" Lu Feng asked with concern, "Are you nearing your due date?"
"You still remember me!" Zhang Fengxia's voice was slightly disappointed as she said, "Just these past few days, I was admitted to the hospital the day before yesterday, and everything is fine."
"I've been quite busy lately," Lu Feng explained.
“I know you’re busy, so I didn’t want to bother you. I’m doing fine here. I have some news for you: the baby is a girl,” Zhang Fengxia said tentatively.
“My daughter is doing well, she’s my little darling. Which hospital are you in? Let’s go to the best private hospital, I’ll help you make the arrangements.”
“No need, the Sinai Hospital I booked is already very good. I’ve still managed to get in touch with my parents. Things have come to this point, and they have to admit it. My mom will come to take care of me in a while. By the way, could you suggest a name for the baby? She was born in the US, and I want her to have US citizenship,” Zhang Fengxia said.
Lu Feng had originally wanted to suggest Shao Shao, but that name seemed too casual, so after thinking for a moment he said, "How about Miao Miao?"
“That’s great. I plan to take her back to meet you when she turns one.”
“As long as the child can fly and come back anytime, I’ll arrange for a plane to pick you up,” Lu Feng said hurriedly.
The two talked for a long time. Lu Feng repeatedly expressed his apologies to her on the phone, saying that he would make it up to her and her daughter in the future. Lu Feng wanted to send her some more money, but Zhang Fengxia refused on the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Lu Feng called the company's finance department and transferred two million US dollars to Zhang Fengxia's bank account before turning around and heading home.
The house was already brightly lit. Jiang Xiaoyan gave the children a good scolding when she got back, and then had her driver send the children away. Duoduo was already sitting there obediently doing her homework.
"When did you get back?" Jiang Xiaoyan asked without turning her head as she tidied the sofa.
"I came back this morning after finishing up most of the business."
"Why are you on the beach? I saw you making a phone call. It's so windy there!" she said, continuing to tidy up.
Who are you chatting with so enthusiastically?
"Nobody, just an old friend, we're just being polite." Lu Feng quickly stopped her question and asked, "What are you having for dinner?"
"I ordered food from Fumanlou, it will be delivered in a bit." Jiang Xiaoyan sat down, her eyes fixed on Lu Feng.
Lu Feng admitted that he lied without batting an eye, but at this moment, he didn't dare to meet her gaze. He subconsciously looked to the side and walked over to Duo Duo to check on her studies.
"Summer vacation will be in two or three months, right? When school starts, you'll be a big kid in third grade."
Duoduo looked up at him and said, "Dad, after this summer vacation, I'll be in fifth grade, and I'll be taking the high school entrance exam next summer."
Lu Feng smiled awkwardly and told her that she had done well on the exam and that she could take his private jet and go wherever she wanted.
Three cooks arrived shortly after, bringing semi-finished products. Cooking at home would be quick, but Jiang Xiaoyan rarely cooks anymore because she finds it tiring. She reached an agreement with a restaurant called Fumanlou to have them prepare the food for her to cook at home.
Although we no longer have a nanny, the house is cleaned by a housekeeping service every two or three days.
The three cooks were quick and efficient, finishing their work in less than fifteen minutes and leaving. The family of three ate their meal at the table, and Jiang Xiaoyan talked about Hua Sha's recent situation.
This year, she established seven of her own brands, set up multiple departments including marketing, branding, and advertising, and expanded a large factory in Zhejiang. Market competition was fierce this year, but fortunately, Huasha is one of the largest private enterprises, selling tons of products such as laundry detergent, soap, hand soap, and face cream.
Lu Feng inquired about her current staff size, production scale, and market share. After receiving the data, he was secretly astonished. He roughly estimated that Huasha's wholesale and private label products had a market share of over 30%.
Zhang Fengxia had previously established extensive sales channels for her. Various OEM and wholesale merchants came to her. The profit margin for wholesalers was less than 10%. Relying on large volume and low profit margin, she quickly became virtually invincible in the market.
In addition, Jiang Xiaoyan is a very honest person, and her own brand has a large volume. While others give 30 grams of snow cream for 2 yuan, she gives 45 grams of snow cream for her brand.
They simply used price wars to squeeze others out of the market, building a moat around their own territory.
“We recently sent several teams to the north to try and expand into the market there. Some people in management said they want to develop overseas markets, but they don’t have enough money right now. They’re talking about backdoor listings.” Jiang Xiaoyan said while eating, “I’ve studied it for a long time, but I still think that going public is not a good option. It’s more reassuring to have cash on hand and goods in hand.”
