Chapter 1191 A Just Cause

As the first golden ray of light tore through the white expanse, the entire earth was bathed in golden light, and newspapers from all major media outlets reported the news of Mr. Feng's passing.

Feng Zhicheng didn't receive the news from his family, but from the media. Last night, Feng Zhiyao had informed all his relatives, but not Feng Zhicheng.

Feng Zhicheng was not happy about Feng Zhiyao's return to the old house, as it represented Feng Zhiyao's counterattack, but he was powerless to stop it at this moment.

If he dares to utter even half a word of dissent, he will be subjected to immense moral condemnation.

Feng Zhicheng sat on the sofa, looking at the newspaper in his hand with a pale face. He could tell that he didn't have much power to fight back. Next, the entire Hong Kong would be focused on his father's funeral, and then Feng Zhiyao would announce his will and take over the company.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, having lost his powerful backer, Feng Zhicheng was like a manipulated puppet, step by step heading towards the ending that Feng Zhiyao desired.

This feeling was so suffocating that Feng Zhicheng felt like he couldn't breathe. He closed his eyes, leaned back on the sofa, and remained silent.

Starting in the morning, all sorts of relatives from the Feng family arrived one after another. Feng Zhixiong also officially rushed back from overseas. Media reporters swarmed at the door. Seeing that there were too many people, Feng Zhiyao went out and gave a brief explanation. The body is currently in the temporary resting stage, and the funeral farewell ceremony will be held in two days.

Has the issue of inheritance been resolved?

Will Mr. Feng Zhicheng appear?

"Will your older brother's return help mend your relationship? I heard you got into a fight with Feng Zhicheng, is that true?"

"Alright, alright!" Feng Zhiyao said to the crowd with a somber expression, "Let's not talk about this anymore. I hope all of you reporters can respect the deceased and be mindful of your words. The issue of inheritance will not be raised at this time. Let's deal with the funeral arrangements first. That's all, everyone, please disperse."

Although Feng Zhiyao told everyone to disperse, reporters still lingered outside.

People have been arriving in droves, all sorts of relatives and friends, some I know and some I don't. Feng Zhiyao doesn't know anything about funeral procedures, but luckily there's a funeral service company to officiate. Lu Feng simply burned some paper money and prepared to leave. He hadn't slept well last night and needed to go back to sleep.

Before leaving, Lu Feng found Feng Zhiyao and asked him about the will. Feng Zhiyao lowered his head and said, "Why don't we wait until my father is buried before bringing this up? Many relatives have been talking to me about this. They still hope that the two brothers can get along well. After my father passes away, there won't be many close relatives left in the world."

Seeing his expression, Lu Feng knew that these relatives were up to no good. He didn't need to ask to know that they were following the old adage that harmony in the family brings prosperity. Although China is a vast country with a huge population, all the lousy relatives in the family are the same from south to north.

When brothers quarrel, these people always advise the bullied party not to hold a grudge, while the stronger party tries to calm things down. The two sides sit down for a meal together, understanding each other perfectly as if nothing has happened. But once the formalities are over, the stronger party continues to do as they please.

"You don't need to worry about this. Go and rest, get a good night's sleep. If anyone tries to talk to you about this, just say you're not in the mood." Lu Feng patted him on the shoulder and said, "Things have come this far, and we're only one step away from success. Don't let all our previous efforts go to waste. Think about what these relatives were doing while you were serving dishes?"

A hint of determination appeared in Feng Zhiyao's tired eyes as he nodded.

There were many people at the scene. The crying and the smell of burning paper money created an indescribable sense of desolation. Lu Feng walked out of the mourning hall. There were too many people. Some were accommodated in the reception room, while others gathered in groups of three or five in the courtyard, chatting and leaving after a while.

This occasion may be painful for close relatives, but for those on the fringes, it's a social event. If they haven't seen each other for a long time, or if they want to see someone but haven't had the chance, this occasion is definitely a good opportunity.

Lu Feng walked around the courtyard twice, listening to the people chatting. Most of them were Mr. Feng's business associates, and the reason they didn't leave was because they were waiting for Li Zhaoji.

The two middle-aged men in the corner were distant relatives. Lu Feng stood not far from them and listened for a while as they discussed their relationship.

One of the men, a round-faced man, was the son of Feng Zhiyao's mother's cousin. According to the traditional "five degrees of mourning" system, they were no longer considered relatives, but the man still came.

"Hello!" Lu Feng stepped forward and asked politely, "Are you a relative of Zhiyao's?"

"Yes, yes, hello, Mr. Lu, right? I always see you on the news." The other person shook Lu Feng's hand warmly and said politely, "My name is Zhu Biaozhi."

"It's so good to have relatives. There are so many people involved in this incident," Lu Feng sighed.

“We still need a large population, that’s why the old saying goes, ‘A thriving family is essential.’” Zhu Biaozhi chimed in.

The others also sighed in surprise. Lu Feng handed out a bunch of cigarettes to the group, which surprised them. They hadn't expected the high and mighty CEO Lu to be so down-to-earth.

"What did Feng Zhiyao call you?" Lu Feng asked Zhu Biaozhi.

“I’m a junior member of the family, more like a grand-nephew, but I’m close to Mr. Feng. We’re good relatives, and he even helped my grandfather’s family before.” Zhu Biaozhi recounted the past interactions between the two families, making it seem to outsiders that he was Feng Zhiyao’s uncle.

“You’re practically Feng Zhiyao’s family now. Zhiyao’s been having a tough year.” Lu Feng said, smoking a cigarette as he looked at the two of them. “You can’t fight alone. You need someone to help you. Otherwise, those people are like wolves and tigers. They’ll bully you to death.”

The two nodded repeatedly, agreeing with Lu Feng's statement. However, they then said that they really didn't have the ability to handle the matter, as one was an office worker and the other owned a restaurant.
