Chapter 1224 Chinese New Year

Vice Mayor Liu stopped and stared at Lu Feng without moving. Lu Feng chuckled and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "I was just kidding."

“Actually, dragging this out will be good for you. As far as I know, some European financial media started touting Jiafeng’s value six months ago,” Vice Mayor Liu said.

“I can hold out until March and maybe keep the private jet. The problem is, how many more months can Jiafeng hold on in his current condition? Let everyone focus on their work.” Lu Feng sighed and said, “From this position, I’m not just thinking about money anymore; I also have to consider the bigger picture.”

Vice Mayor Liu smiled and praised, "You have a bright future ahead of you!"

Lu Feng watched him leave, then went to Wei Yandan's office. Before signing the privatization agreement, they had both applied for resignation, and in the next few days they needed to sort out their salaries, bonuses, stock incentives, and other income.

In addition, they had some veterans under their command whom they wanted to bring along. Lu Feng neither agreed nor refused, but said that they would see how things went depending on the company's development.

After the settlement is completed here, they can go back and enjoy the Lunar New Year in peace. After the New Year, they will all go to Hong Kong to take up their posts, where they will have even more important tasks.

Lu Feng returned home around 5 p.m. It was the end of the year again, and his family called to ask if he was coming home this year. Lu Feng hadn't been home for three years.

“It’s highly likely that I’ll be going back this year, as things are mostly settled at the company.” Lu Feng thought for a moment and said, “How about this, you come here for the New Year this year, and I’ll bring you and your parents over.”

Lu Feng really didn't want to deal with the social obligations in the village. Besides, if he went back now, the city and county governments would definitely look for him, and the province might even call him over.

For the elderly couple, where they spent the New Year was not important; what mattered was being with their son. They readily agreed over the phone.

Lu Feng originally planned to bring them over by plane, but then he realized he didn't have any planes left, so he had to book tickets for the two of them instead.

The following day, the media announced that Jiafeng's breakup battle, which had lasted for more than forty days, had finally come to an end with Lu Feng privatizing the R&D company.

People in the industry are inquiring about the detailed terms. Some say that Lu Feng has lost completely this time. All of Jiafeng's profitable products and patents have been taken away, while the most expensive semiconductors have been left in his hands.

Some people who know what Lu Feng has been busy with in recent years say that the country is likely to start heavily subsidizing the semiconductor industry, and Lu Feng is preparing for this.

Many people called specifically to inquire about the inside story, wanting to know if now was the best time to enter the semiconductor industry. Lu Feng just smiled and told them, "Don't play if you don't have money."

Around 9 PM, Lu Feng called Manager Li. He had already sold 70-80% of his Thai baht, at a price of 26-27 baht. These days were the time when retail investors were fleeing in a stampede.

After hanging up the phone, Jiang Xiaoyan still hadn't returned. Lu Feng estimated it would be around eleven o'clock again, so he picked up his phone, went out, and dialed that long-unused number.

"Hey!" Zhang Fengxia's voice was gentle as she asked, "Have you eaten yet?"

Lu Feng was taken aback and asked in surprise, "How did you know it was me?"

“Only you know this phone number. Did my mom call you?” Zhang Fengxia sighed and said, “Did she scold you? Don’t take it to heart.”

“No, your mother is right. No matter how busy I am, I shouldn’t forget about you. The company was split up yesterday, and I’m going to shift my focus to Hong Kong. I bought a villa there. If you don’t feel comfortable there, come back,” Lu Feng said into the phone.

"Is Sister Xiaoyan going?" Zhang Fengxia asked.

“Hua Sha is expanding right now, she’s very busy and can’t go, and the two places aren’t that far apart.” Lu Feng didn’t know what to say, so he took a deep breath and said, “I know you want a result, but I’m currently swamped with other things, I…”

“It’s okay, take your time to think it over, just tell me when you’ve made up your mind.” Zhang Fengxia changed the subject and said, “You haven’t heard Miaomiao’s voice yet, have you? Come and say something to your dad.”

"Ya ya ya, ee ai ya ah, ya!!!"

"So cute! She couldn't talk before, but now she can sit up." A smacking sound came from the other end of the phone. Zhang Fengxia gave her a kiss and said with pride, "Mommy's good baby."

"I understand, she said she wants an invoice!" Lu Feng joked.

There was a soft chuckle on the other end of the phone, which eased the awkward atmosphere of not having spoken for a long time. Zhang Fengxia seemed to have opened up and started talking about what Miaomiao had been doing these past few months. It was as if her mission in this world had suddenly become protecting this child.

Lu Feng didn't say much, but listened to what she bought for the child, what items were expensive, and which part of the child's skin had eczema—all trivial matters of daily life.

The sound of a car came from behind. Lu Feng turned around and saw Jiang Xiaoyan park the car in the parking space in front of the door. She got out of the car looking tired, glanced at him, and walked straight home.

“It’s getting late. If you want to come back, you can go to Hong Kong. But you should come back. It’s almost Chinese New Year, so you can reunite with your parents,” Lu Feng suggested.

"Let's forget it. The child is too young, and flying might cause harm."

Lu Feng explained to her that it was possible to take a plane, but this high-achieving student still didn't believe him, as if the whole world was relentlessly harming her child.

I'll call you again in a couple of days!

"Okay! You can hang up now. It must be very late over there. Go and get some rest."

Lu Feng took a deep breath and asked, "Do you have enough money? I'll have someone transfer some more to your account. The child needs money, and you need money too."
