When he got home, it was already midnight. Su Yourong had someone deliver the invitation to the dinner party. The Filipino maid not only prepared a bath for Lu Feng and made the bed, but even squeezed out the toothpaste.
Lying in the bathtub, looking at the bright moon hanging high above the sea through the floor-to-ceiling window, I have to say that it was indeed pleasant at that moment, but it just didn't feel like home.
Lu Feng asked someone to take his phone and called Zhang Fengxia. The two talked for a while, but she still didn't want to come back. She told Lu Feng to focus on his own business and not to worry about her too much, as she had enough money and didn't need to call anymore.
After hanging up the phone, Lu Feng felt it was about time, so he called the nanny in to give him a scrub. However, when he saw her, he felt that the scrub might cause him some trouble, so after asking around for a while, he found a gardener to come over and give him a good scrub.
Feeling completely refreshed, Lu Feng accepted the half-glass of red wine prepared by the nanny, drank it all in one gulp, and then went to bed to rest.
Su Yourong lay in bed with the reading light on, holding a book in her hands. The cover read "What is a Semiconductor and the Development of Semiconductors." There were other books on the bedside table, mostly about the development of the semiconductor industry.
In 1997, the semiconductor industry experienced explosive growth globally. Last year, the global semiconductor market reached $150 billion, and the global wafer and motherboard production lines were expanding rapidly. Japan and the United States reached a semiconductor agreement, and the two sides engaged in fierce competition on the technical level.
While reading an industry report, Su Yourong noticed a strong emphasis on the semiconductor overheating. Both the United States and Japan were expanding their production capacity, with fifty new production lines added globally last year. According to financial institutions, if all these production lines were operational, the global semiconductor industry would face an overcapacity crisis.
Su Yourong became increasingly frightened as she read on. The article emphasized industry changes, stating that any industry cycle would eventually show signs of overheating, followed by capacity clearing. The brands that would be eliminated would inevitably be second-tier brands. When production lines were shut down on a large scale, workers were laid off, and companies went bankrupt, when the industry was heading towards its death, a new round of rebirth would begin.
Su Yourong was unsure about Lu Feng's semiconductor company. She put down the industry report in her hand, turned off the light, and couldn't fall asleep.
The news of Jiafeng Group's split and Lu Feng's trip to Hong Kong has already spread among Hong Kong's wealthy circles. The tricks this guy pulled in Hong Kong are well-known not only to the wealthy but also to ordinary people.
Hong Kong does not have a semiconductor industry, but the financial sector has invested heavily in semiconductors. People are optimistic about the future of semiconductors, but not about Hurricane Semiconductor. This is not only true for Hong Kong's financial sector, but also for several European financial media outlets that were previously promoting Hurricane Semiconductor.
With the privatization of the R&D company, the tone shifted, expressing concern about whether Hurricane Semiconductor could survive for a year. They used various professional data to evaluate Hurricane Semiconductor, believing that Hurricane Semiconductor had no advantage in its expansion in both Japan and Silicon Valley!
The following evening, at the Regent Hotel, as the doorman opened the car door, Lu Feng stepped out and casually handed over a bill of about one hundred yuan to the doorman. The receptionist at the door greeted Lu Feng with a smile and welcomed him inside.
"Invitation!" Lu Feng casually handed over the invitation.
"This way, please!"
In the elevator, Lu Feng looked at the luxuriously decorated Regent Hotel and couldn't help but say, "Your hotel will be famous throughout the mainland in the future."
"Sir, our Regent Hotel is the most luxurious five-star hotel in Hong Kong. It is the first choice for many distinguished guests from the mainland when they come to Hong Kong," the receptionist introduced to Lu Feng.
Lu Feng smiled but didn't say anything. When he arrived at the banquet hall floor, he walked inside. Su Yourong had booked the best-decorated banquet hall. When Lu Feng went in, there were already people there, chatting in small groups.
"Isn't that Lu Feng from the mainland? Did he really get kicked out of the Schroder Group?"
"Is that a lie? It's just that he's stupid. With so many good assets, he chose to take the semiconductor industry, which burns through money."
"The semiconductor industry was booming last year; prices were rising everywhere!"
"You don't know this industry. It's expanding globally, and only the top players are reaping the benefits, while second-tier companies can't even get a taste of the soup."
"He rarely attends banquets, so why is he here?"
"You don't know? His relationship with President Su of United Capital is quite special. At the Feng family's funeral last year, the two of them went hand in hand."
Everyone gossiped for a while, but Lu Feng didn't care at all about the strange looks coming from all directions. He called over a waiter, ordered a glass of champagne, and then ordered a few dishes. He found a seat and started eating!
In less than ten minutes, most of the people had arrived, and the scene was quite noisy. As a dozen or so young girls in evening gowns walked in and began to play the violin, the banquet officially began.
As soft music played, Su Yourong appeared in a strapless evening gown. As soon as she entered, everyone exchanged pleasantries, and many came forward to take photos with her.
Although United Capital is not a top player in the financial world, Su Yourong has definitely put a lot of effort into her "goddess" marketing. Some big shots are happy to stand with her and chat for a while, as it makes them seem like they have good taste.
Everyone was chatting and laughing, occasionally bursting into laughter, making it quite lively. Lu Feng's side, however, seemed much quieter. Su Yourong saw Lu Feng standing there alone through the crowd.
"Excuse me, just a moment." Su Yourong walked through the crowd towards Lu Feng and whispered, "Did you come here just to drink champagne and smoke?"
"They just ignore me, and I'm a rather introverted person," Lu Feng said, spreading his hands in a gesture of helplessness.
Su Yourong was angered by him and turned to the crowd, saying, "Tonight I'd like to introduce someone to everyone, someone you've all heard of: Mr. Lu from Hurricane Capital."
