Chapter 1231 Zhenkun's Judgment

After dinner, Lu Feng went back. Before leaving, Feng Zhiyao said he would ask a few venture capital firms for help. Two of them were quite interested in semiconductors. One of them had a boss who had moved from the mainland, so he shouldn't be too opposed to investing in the mainland.

If these two companies don't invest, Feng Zhiyao even boasted that he could raise funds at a valuation of HK$5 billion.

Around 8 p.m., Feng Zhiyao had just returned home when Zhenkun called, asking where he was. Upon learning that he was home, Zhenkun said he would come over immediately.

Feng Zhiyao was a little puzzled as to what was so important that he had to come over in person.

Half an hour later, Zhenkun arrived at Feng Zhiyao's villa and sat down to inquire about his conversation with Lu Feng earlier that day. Feng Zhiyao was quite displeased when he heard him asking about these things. Did he have to ask about everything he did?

“President Feng, we can’t get involved in this matter. Putting aside the fact that the semiconductor industry is extremely risky, just consider this: Lu Feng has been in Hong Kong for so long, has he ever mentioned you?” Zhenkun said with a serious face, “He didn’t consider you when he came. He’s been in contact with United Capital. The fact that he’s come to you now can only mean one thing: United Capital can’t satisfy his appetite, or there’s something we don’t know about.”

"When Jiafeng Group split up, the Hong Kong media kept reporting on it. Who is Su Yourong? She's the kind of woman who would make a big deal out of having an egg in her house! During that time, the media was bombarding her with reports about Jiafeng Group, but she remained silent. Something's definitely fishy about this!"

"President Feng, you are young and cannot play mind games with these two who are becoming increasingly cunning. When your father was alive, he could still keep these two in check. Now, all we can do is protect this family business. At this time, whether at the international or national level, it is a time of great change. No one knows how many people will fall and how many people will rise!"

“From another perspective, I don’t know much about the semiconductor industry, but I do know that this is something that private companies can’t handle. They all have the support of the state. It’s absolutely impossible for Lu Feng to make Hurricane Semiconductor gain a foothold in the global market by relying solely on financing.”

"You should know Lu Feng's ambition better than I do. He will never be content with a second-rate company. Your father once said that as long as he worked steadily, he would definitely have a place among the world's richest people in the next ten years. But you've seen how things have turned out. He's even more aggressive than your father thought!"

"Financing is not sustainable, and the economic situation in mainland China is not optimistic. It may not be able to provide him with the support he wants. In my analysis, he intends to take over United Capital, a financial company, as his lifeline. The reason he didn't choose you is not because of any favors you have, but purely because Li Ka-shing is behind Sun Hung Kai Properties, and he may not be able to make things happen."

“Su Yourong is no ordinary woman either. She is extremely ambitious. She and Lu Feng are the same kind of people. They both have the courage to swallow an elephant whole. This matter originally had nothing to do with us. If you get involved, you are very likely to offend Su Yourong. This woman has a wide network of connections in Hong Kong in the past two years and her base is very stable. She is not someone you can afford to offend right now.”

Zhenkun earnestly advised, "It's best not to meddle in this matter. If Lu Feng gets into trouble in the future, we'll lend a hand. Besides, he has billions of dollars in his hands. If even he has financial problems, we won't be much better off."

Feng Zhiyao wasn't entirely convinced by Zhenkun's long-winded explanation, but when Lu Feng's funds were mentioned, he suddenly remembered that Lu Feng was not someone who lacked money.

The two sat there and discussed it. It was clear that Lu Feng had other plans for the money in his hands, which further confirmed Zhenkun's idea.

At 10 p.m., Feng Zhiyao called Lu Feng and said that the other two companies had no such idea. Sun Hung Kai was also facing a tight cash flow this year. He was not very familiar with the company's financial situation and said that they had two real estate projects to start construction this year and simply could not spare any funds. However, he promised to help once their cash flow improved.

Upon hearing this explanation, Lu Feng realized that it was something Zhen Kun had taught him, and that Feng Zhiyao would never have come up with such a story.

"It's alright. The situation for all the major companies this year is not optimistic. You guys take care of yourselves first. I'll definitely have a solution," Lu Feng said into the phone.

"Brother Feng, I'm so sorry, I didn't even know how to call you." Feng Zhiyao's voice was full of embarrassment.

"It's nothing serious. Helping others depends on your own situation. I have a call coming up, I'll hang up now," Lu Feng said.

"Okay, then you go ahead and get busy. Brother Feng, have dinner when you have time!" Feng Zhiyao said politely.

After hanging up the phone, Lu Feng sat silently on the sofa. The luxurious villa had a cold and secluded feel, like a deep palace. People in Hong Kong were all shrewd and experienced, unlike the mainland of many years ago.

Lu Feng didn't know if Su Yourong was behind this, but if she was, then things would be troublesome.

Before the R&D company was privatized, Lu Feng had considered raising funds from the mainland and had even mentioned establishing a national large fund for investment. However, the domestic situation is currently tight, and money is needed everywhere. Just like what was said to Lu Feng on the phone, if poor people want to have a future, they have to learn to find their own way.

It's not that the parents don't care, but that they have too many children and can't manage them all.

Lu Feng couldn't be sure how long it would take for semiconductors to become profitable, or whether Hurricane Semiconductor could change history, surpass TSMC, replace their market share, and seize the opportunities that came after 2000. Nobody knew.

This is also why Lu Feng himself was unwilling to invest; the risk was indeed too great. He was challenging the impossible, and even more so, he was challenging history.

In a small conference room in the United Capital Building, Su Yourong sat with her notebook open, already filled with notes. In front of her was a blackboard where a man in his forties was speaking eloquently about semiconductors.
