Several shareholders were taken aback by these words, which were clearly a warning. They had not heard anything about issuing new shares before. Since Su Yourong took over United Capital, there had been one round of share issuance after another, and the shares they held had been diluted like soup.
If things continue like this, not to mention issuing new shares or rights issues, they could empty the pockets of these shareholders. By then, Su Yourong might be able to control more than 50% of the company.
"Should we hold a board meeting to vote on this?" a shareholder next to him asked.
“From the perspective of listed company management system, such a large investment requires a vote by all shareholders,” another person echoed.
“There’s no need to specifically mention this. We can just hold a board meeting and vote on it, saying that we’re using idle funds for investment and that we need to increase investment later. When we hold another board meeting, we can say that we’re expanding investment. Both of these votes will be easy to pass.” Su Yourong looked at the group and said, “It’s mainly your idea.”
The group exchanged glances. Even if they were unwilling, Su Yourong had plenty of ways to get the investment approved. Clearly, she was determined to gamble on Hurricane Capital.
"Let's think about it some more!"
"Then let's set it for the day after tomorrow. If this matter isn't approved by then, I'll proceed with the private placement plan. At the same time, to cope with the economic downturn, we'll keep more funds within the company to ensure its better operation. There will be no dividends for the next five years!" Su Yourong stood up and said, "You can consider it!"
Several people looked bitter, and one of them looked angry. After Su Yourong walked out of the conference room, she slammed her hand on the table and shouted, "The company has become her personal fiefdom! Damn it! First it's the private placement, then it's not paying dividends. Who are they threatening? Do they really think I'm poor? I won't starve even if I don't pay dividends!"
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
"Sigh! She's determined to invest. Even with an extra shareholder involved in the private placement, she still managed to get the investment resolution approved!" another person sighed.
The group looked heartbroken. Su Yourong had too many friends outside and had brought in too much capital over the years. It could be said that the entire board of directors was her circle of friends.
Su Yourong didn't know much about semiconductors, but she knew Lu Feng. This time, she was taking a gamble. If she won, it would propel her onto the world's richest stage. If she lost, it would only be a loss for United Capital. She had been investing her own money, so even if United Capital went bankrupt tomorrow, she could still live a very carefree life.
The next day, a weekend, Lu Feng called home around 9 a.m. He called several times before Duo Duo finally answered. Jiang Xiaoyan had already gone to work, and Duo Duo had just finished eating.
"Do you miss your dad?" Lu Feng asked into the phone.
"Yes!" Duoduo whispered into the phone, "The new relative's cooking is terrible; she always makes me stew."
“If the food isn’t good, we can go out to eat. Sometimes Dad misses you but can’t contact you. Once your grades stabilize, Dad will buy you a cell phone, okay?” Lu Feng asked.
"You promised me, you can't lie!" Duoduo said excitedly.
"When has your father ever lied to you? Do you have any money on you?" Lu Feng asked.
"I only have a few hundred yuan left. I'm going to play games with Li Zhikai in a bit." Duoduo shared the Street Fighter game console on the street with Lu Feng on the phone.
Lu Feng wasn't around, and he wanted to give her more money, but he was afraid she would squander it. She was really a worry at that age. When Lu Feng heard the name Li Zhikai, he thought it sounded like a boy. He subtly inquired about him and found out that there were seven or eight people in the family, most of whom were girls.
Lu Feng promised her on the phone that he would hang out with her next time he came back, and also asked about her homework and grades. She would be in the second year of junior high school after summer vacation.
After hanging up the phone, Lu Feng sighed that children and grandchildren have their own destinies, and it's no use controlling whether they are dragons or worms. Both of them are busy, and they are afraid that in the end, their children will be neglected.
Lu Feng spent the entire morning waiting for Su Yourong's call. When Feng Zhiyao called, Lu Feng guessed it must be related to her.
Given Su Yourong's connections in Hong Kong, if she were to oppose him, Hurricane Capital would find it difficult to raise funds in the short term.
Lu Feng spent half the day playing golf in the backyard after lunch, but still didn't receive a call from Su Yourong. He handed his golf clubs to the caddie next to him, looking rather unhappy.
"Isn't there a phone?" Lu Feng asked the nanny standing beside him.
"Sir, you have received two phone calls inviting you to dinner."
"Something's not right!" Lu Feng turned back, pondered for a long time, and muttered to himself, "Are they planning to leave me hanging for a while? Then I'll have to go out and make my own way."
After returning to his room and quickly washing up, Lu Feng flipped through the banquet invitations. Most of them were low-class banquets, but one of them was somewhat interesting.
"Western Postmodern Art Appreciation Dinner. The theme of this dinner is the discussion of changes in women's clothing and performance art after postmodern industrialization. To enhance the artistic quality, the minimum requirement for the dinner is personal assets of no less than HKD 100 million!" Lu Feng read aloud as he looked at the invitation.
After reading it, Lu Feng couldn't help but laugh. When it comes to having fun, you guys are the best!
"This is it, let's go take a look!" Lu Feng put the invitation aside.
I left home at 6:30 pm and drove to the New Territories. The banquet was held at a five-star hotel. As stated in the invitation, they had booked an entire floor, ensuring absolute privacy.
Moreover, the people coming are definitely not ordinary people. Lu Feng made a few inquiries and learned that the head of HSBC's investment department would be coming tonight, along with presidents of several securities companies and CEOs of venture capital firms. It was definitely a financial gathering.
After handing the car over to the valet, Lu Feng casually handed over a HK$100 tip and followed the attendant upstairs.
