Chapter 198 All Bones

The crowd gathered in small groups to chat again, while many others went to the buffet to eat, as these kinds of banquets are the easiest to get hungry at.

Not far away was a small stage. A young woman in an evening gown walked up to it, holding a microphone, with a standard smile on her face, and began, "Tonight, the stars are shining brightly, and my humble abode is truly honored. It is an honor to share this momentous occasion with you all once again..."

"Have something to eat first, this is just the beginning," Zhang Fengxia said as she walked over.

"I've already eaten."

"Huh? When did you eat?"

“You may not care about his health, but I do. I’ve brought it over. Go and eat. There seems to be some wine over there. Go check it out.” Su Yourong walked up and put her arm around Lu Feng’s arm.

Zhang Fengxia stared at Lu Feng, her eyes practically spitting fire. He hadn't invited her to eat, and now she was starving.

Mr. Hong walked over and said, "Mr. Lu, I won't stay any longer. I have a few friends over there, go say hello."

"Alright, do as you please!"

A few more people came up to say hello and exchanged business cards. They were mostly from small companies. Lu Feng told Zhang Fengxia and the others to eat first, as there was still more to do tonight.

Zhang Fengxia waved to several staff members and said, "Eat first, don't be shy, eat until you're full."

Lu Feng walked into the crowd and exchanged pleasantries with everyone. Many of the company executives agreed with the concept of technology-industry-trade. As they chatted, Lu Feng asked them to transfer some of their technology patents. The group just smiled and raised their glasses, then stopped responding.

“They’re all shrewd people. They know this path is difficult, but they’ll still let you take it, even if it means refusing to grant you technology patent licenses. People these days are terrifyingly pragmatic.” Su Yourong swirled her wine glass and looked at Lu Feng, saying, “This wine needs to be decanted. It needs to fully combine with oxygen to release the aroma of the grapes.”

A young man in a suit and tie stood opposite her and looked at Su Yourong, saying, "This young lady is a connoisseur of wine."

"That's it? You know so much about wine?" Lu Feng stared at him. This guy had revealed his true colors in just one sentence. In his previous life, when he went to the supermarket and spent fifteen yuan to buy a bottle of red wine, the saleswoman explained it in more detail than he had.

Jiao Enfan was chatting with a group of people nearby, listening to the conversation over there. He turned his head, holding his wine glass, and looked at Su Yourong, saying, "Tonight's red wine is all from France. The grapes are from Louis Estate in 1977, which currently costs around a thousand yuan on the market. That year was a drought, and the grapes..."

"Such a big estate, couldn't you have dug a well for irrigation? How come there's drought and reduced yields every year? Wasn't there a drought in 1982 too?" Lu Feng asked him.

Jiao Enfan was interrupted and glared angrily at Lu Feng.

Whenever these people talk about wine, they mention Bordeaux, and when they mention Bordeaux, they inevitably mention Lafite. And when they mention Lafite, they always say there's a drought and a reduced grape harvest. Lu Feng suspects that the people of Bordeaux have been dried into human jerky.

Jiao Enfan ignored Lu Feng and continued talking about how to taste red wine. He picked up his glass and took a sip. Su Yourong looked at Lu Feng and asked him if he wanted to try it.

Lu Feng picked up his wine glass, drank it all in one gulp, and turned to leave.

"Hmph, a cow chewing on a peony!" Jiao Enfan gave his assessment.

Su Yourong didn't say anything and hurriedly followed. Lu Feng exchanged a few polite words with President Hou and President Zhang. There was a cream cake on the table in front of them. Zhang Fengxia was standing in front of the table cutting the cake. Next to her stood a man in his thirties, whose suit was slightly oversized. He was watching Zhang Fengxia cut the cake.

They were clearly waiting to take a bite.

Lu Feng stepped forward and said, "Give me one!"

The man turned to look at Lu Feng and said in an Anhui accent, "Mr. Lu, you also like cream cake?"

"Yeah!" Lu Feng replied casually.

"Let me cut it for you." The man took the cake knife and started cutting. He handed a piece to Lu Feng first and said, "President Lu has a very thorough understanding of technology, industry and trade. I thought it was just young people putting on a show when I saw the news before."

Lu Feng took a bite of cake and said, "Just kidding. What's your surname?"

"My surname is Jiang, Jiang Wanmeng!"

Lu Feng nodded, ate his cake, and walked to the side. Zhang Fengxia followed. Suddenly, Lu Feng turned around, his eyes wide, and whispered, "Holy crap, Jiang Wanmeng?"

Zhang Fengxia was displeased by his sudden outburst and frowned, saying, "You almost bumped into me, do you know him?"

Lu Feng was still unsure if it was the person he knew, the inventor of VCD, so he walked back to him and asked, "Mr. Jiang, are you from Anhui?"

Jiang Wanmeng nodded, puzzled by Lu Feng's sudden outburst, and asked, "What's wrong? Do you have a grudge against people from Anhui?"

"No, my fourth uncle is in Anhui. We're practically from the same hometown. Are you working at Hyundai Group now?"

"Yes, the current general manager mainly deals with electronic technology, information programming, and broadcast signal technology. Mr. Lu can cooperate with us in signal reception, programming, and analysis," General Manager Jiang said with a smile.

Thirty years old, general manager of a large state-owned enterprise—is that for an ordinary person?

As a reborn person, Lu Feng felt ashamed of the people he had met during this period. This guy had invented the VCD in the last two years.

VCDs dominated the small appliance market throughout the 1990s, until DVDs appeared. Lu Feng quickly became polite with the other party, as tonight was truly a fruitful night.

After exchanging pleasantries and business cards, Lu Feng asked, "President Jiang, how is your work at your current company going?"

"It's alright, I'm not under too much pressure. It must be very difficult for you to start a business, Mr. Lu, right?"
