Chapter 2 Hope



Lu Feng bent down and whispered in the little guy's ear, "Daddy, as long as you don't hit Mommy, I'll call you Daddy."

Jiang Xiaoyan put on her coat and saw Duoduo whispering with Lu Feng. She said, "Duoduo, let's go. We'll get scolded if we're late."

As he spoke, he picked up Duoduo and went out.

Lu Feng remained bent over, stunned for more than ten seconds, a cryptic smile playing on his lips.

I've never been called "Dad" before, and my baby voice is quite sweet.

Jiang Xiaoyan leaves before dawn every day and doesn't return until eight or nine o'clock at night. The house is a bit messy. Lu Feng stood up and started tidying up the house, wiping down all the tables and chairs, but his mind was already thinking about going back.

He went through every possible solution in his mind. If he could come, it meant he could go back. His biggest fear was that he would be mistaken for someone who had died suddenly from drinking, and after the doctor pronounced him dead, he would be sent straight to the crematorium.

"If it's burned to ashes, then we're really doomed."

Lu Feng just hoped the doctor wouldn't give up on him. In the afternoon, besides cleaning the house, Lu Feng also found two electrical wires that could be plugged into a socket and used to run water into the basin.

It was pitch black outside at night, with not a single streetlamp in sight. Only the twinkling stars on the horizon were visible. Inside, the dim yellow gas lamp cast a somewhat oppressive glow on the room.

The sound of a key turning in the lock came from outside. When the door opened, Jiang Xiaoyan was a little stunned to see the tidy room. She was holding Duoduo in her arms, covering her with her coat; Duoduo was obviously asleep.

"Did you do this?" Jiang Xiaoyan asked Lu Feng, her voice tinged with delight.
