Chapter 23: Duoduo Gets Beaten Up

The next morning, Lu Feng handed over all the workshop matters to Da Tou. Three more trucks of fresh fruit were being unloaded. Lu Feng stood at the door watching the trucks coming to pick up the goods and felt that there were fewer trucks than in the past few days.

"Why are there fewer trucks hauling goods?" Lu Feng muttered to himself.

"That's normal. There's plenty of supply these days, so there's no need to rush," Da Tou said.

Lu Feng sensed something was wrong. As the saying goes, no one gets up early for nothing, especially since canned goods are highly profitable. These people usually keep an eye on things here long beforehand, but this morning, only some of Zhou Hao's men were there.

"Why are there fewer people today?" Lu Feng walked into the group of people hauling goods and started chatting.

Everyone just laughed it off and didn't say anything, which made Lu Feng realize that something was wrong. He pulled aside a young man he knew well and asked him about it.

"Mr. Lu, you don't know?" the other party whispered.

"What?"

"Your business is booming, and countless people are envious. Several new workshops like yours have recently opened, taking a 30% cut, so they're all going over there to pick up the goods."

Lu Feng understood. No wonder the fruit prices in the village had recently gone up. He had thought it was because he had bought too much, but then he realized that he couldn't possibly control such a large market by himself.

Now I understand everything.

"Big Head, I'm off!" Lu Feng called out to Big Head and rode his motorcycle home.

On the way, I secretly pondered to myself that market competition had already begun to intensify and would soon become fierce. I wondered if I could earn my 300,000 yuan.

Lu Feng wasn't sure either. He hadn't done any research on the fruit inventory, consumer spending power, or purchasing power in the surrounding rural markets, but one thing was certain.

When businesses enter a vicious cycle of competition, the first thing they do is price wars, which inevitably leads to declining profits. As local fruits are depleted and seasonal fruits disappear from the market, costs will skyrocket, and this business game will come to an end.

Lu Feng parked his motorcycle downstairs, not thinking too much about it. 250,000 yuan was definitely achievable, enough to support him in the next round of business investment.

"Hey, Lu Feng bought a motorcycle!"

"Yes, Auntie didn't go for her morning exercise?" Lu Feng asked politely.

"No, walking is too tiring. I have a motorcycle at home, so I can go whenever I want. Xiaofeng has really made something of himself. I heard you opened a factory!"

"It's just a small matter. I'm not talking to you anymore. I'm going home now."

As Lu Feng spoke, he hurried upstairs. His family had become the envy of everyone in the building. A few days ago, someone approached Jiang Xiaoyan, wanting to arrange for their child to work in Lu Feng's workshop.

Jiang Xiaoyan refused, which resulted in another round of gossip, with people like He Yanli being the most vocal in their complaints.

After Lu Feng succeeded in starting his business in his previous life, he had a little money. As a result, a bunch of people came to him to borrow money. He refused to lend them any, and a lot of people made up lies, saying that he was doing shady business.

Human nature, when it comes to the slightest bit of self-interest, reveals its full darkness!

Jiang Xiaoyan had already dressed up, changed into a long dress, and tied her hair up, looking like a pure and beautiful young girl. Her tall figure and slender waist made her indescribably beautiful.

Actually, she's only twenty-three, which, many years later, would just be the age of a college graduate. Before, she seemed a bit dull, but now that life is getting better and better, she's become quite playful and lively.

Standing next to Duoduo, they look like sisters.

When Lu Feng pushed open the door and saw Jiang Xiaoyan, he was stunned.

"Come in, it's not like you've come to the wrong house." Jiang Xiaoyan felt quite embarrassed by his gaze.

"Mommy is so beautiful!" Duoduo happily hugged Jiang Xiaoyan's leg.

Lu Feng closed the door and looked at her. She seemed like a little sister to him. In his previous life, he was unmarried, and many people joked that his wife was still in kindergarten. Now, it seemed that he really did have that feeling.

"Let's make it clear first, we won't buy anything expensive. We'll buy Duo Duo a few outfits, a pair of shoes, and two formal suits for you. You're someone important now." Jiang Xiaoyan seemed to have already decided what to buy.

Lu Feng smiled at her stingy appearance and didn't say anything more.

The family of three went out and headed straight for the Service Trade Building in the city center, which is the most expensive place in the city. Otherwise, they would go to the wholesale market or a roadside stall. There were not many other options.

Jiang Xiaoyan wanted to buy something from a roadside stall, but Lu Feng dragged her into the China International Service Trade Center and bought some street food for Duoduo. The little guy happily called out "Dad" all the way.

This is definitely a place for rich people. There are receptionists, sales assistants, and even elevators. The decoration is magnificent. Any piece of clothing you pick up will cost six or seven yuan, or even tens of yuan. It's not uncommon for it to cost hundreds of yuan.

Jiang Xiaoyan looked around and liked every single item, but when she saw the prices, she hurriedly pulled Lu Feng away, which drew laughter from the sales assistants.

“Buy it if you like it, I’ll pay!” Lu Feng said.

"Isn't your money my money too?" Jiang Xiaoyan rolled her eyes at him and said, "Let's go buy it at the stalls outside. That dress cost seventeen yuan, but you can buy it for two yuan at most outside."

Seeing her attitude towards daily life, Lu Feng couldn't help but laugh and said, "I'm going to the restroom!"

There were benches nearby where Jiang Xiaoyan sat with Duoduo, complaining to Duoduo, "Your dad has only made a little money and he's already getting cocky."

Duoduo listened to her mother's nagging while sitting there eating what she was holding. The sales assistants who had been chatting together were whispering among themselves, their eyes occasionally glancing at Jiang Xiaoyan with a hint of disdain.

"There are too many people like this who want to come in and pretend even though they have no money."

"Look at that cheap thing she's wearing, it's from a few years ago, she's so obsessed with saving face!"
