"Oh, that's quite a coincidence!"
The two exchanged a casual remark, clearly showing they had no interest in Lu Feng whatsoever.
"Dear passengers, the aircraft has reached the runway. Please fasten your seatbelts and take care of any elderly or children beside you..."
Lu Feng fastened his seatbelt and said nothing more.
As the plane took off and stabilized, several flight attendants pushed carts to distribute tea and drinks to everyone, while two people nearby were still whispering and chatting.
The content is nothing more than how much money they can make on this trip, whether they can hook up with a CEO, and if they can become a mistress or a concubine, their future will be secure for the next few years.
Lu Feng sighed as he listened to these stories. These bosses were pitiful; they found mistresses, only to find out they were secondhand goods, and they still had to spend so much money. They were really suckers.
"Sir, what would you like to drink? We have tea, coffee, cola, and juice."
"Cola is fine," Lu Feng said casually.
"Your Coke, and what would you two ladies like to drink?"
"coffee!"
After the flight attendant handed out drinks to everyone, she continued pushing the trolley to the back. Lu Feng took a sip of his cola and asked, "Are you two also going to Chengdu?"
The girl next to him glanced at Lu Feng but didn't say anything.
"I'm also going to Chengdu, what a coincidence!" Lu Feng continued the awkward conversation.
"Hehe, this plane is full of people going to Chengdu!"
"Yes, you guys came here to have fun, right?"
"Why ask such detailed questions? What's it to you?" one of the girls said, looking annoyed.
"I just came back from abroad. Seeing how beautiful you two are, I can tell you're from wealthy and noble families. I'm just back in the country and I'd like to make some friends," Lu Feng said.
The two rolled their eyes upon hearing this. They had seen all sorts of tricks before, and this kind of tactic of pretending to be an overseas Chinese or a returnee to pick up girls was too old-fashioned.
"A foreigner?"
“My mother is American, and I grew up there, but I have always been attached to my motherland, so I have been learning Chinese since I was a child. When I set foot on my homeland again, I felt the call of this land to me.” Lu Feng’s eyes reddened as he spoke, and he covered his mouth with his hand and said, “I’m sorry, I still can’t control my emotions.”
"Oh dear, you're really crying?" The girl next to me quickly handed me a tissue and said, "It's okay, let's go home, let's go home!"
Lu Feng took a tissue, said "Thank you," wiped his tears, and took a deep breath.
"Can you speak English?" the girl by the window asked, still suspicious.
Lu Feng, who was first in his grade in English and had lived abroad for several years in his previous life, looked at the girl by the window and said, "I can speak English, but I still want to speak my own language."
The two were a little confused by the pure English accent, and wondered to themselves, "Does someone who has studied abroad also fly economy class?"
What does this sentence mean?
“What I’m saying is, I can speak English, but I still want to speak the language of my hometown.” Lu Feng picked up his cup, took a sip of cola, and took a deep breath. “Returning to this land, I feel that even the air is filled with freedom; it’s welcoming me.”
"Mmm!" The two nodded vigorously, no longer doubting Lu Feng's sincerity!
"What are your names?" Lu Feng asked.
"My name is Qianqian!" said the girl standing to the side.
"My name is Yuanyuan!" said the girl leaning against Lu Feng.
Lu Feng glanced at the round-faced girl; she was indeed quite round.
What's your name?
“My name is John Lee. My Chinese name was given to me by my grandfather. It’s called Li Nianzu. Unfortunately, the last time I saw my grandfather was when I was a child. I’ve only come back twice in all my years, and both times were when I was a child.” Lu Feng sighed.
He lies without even blinking; it's so natural for him.
"It's really tough being overseas. It's good that you've come back. What are you coming back for?" Qianqian asked tentatively. "Are you starting a company? A lot of wealthy people from overseas are coming back to start big companies these days."
"I'm young, I just came from Ionia this year... um..." Lu Feng suddenly realized he had said the wrong thing.
"Ionia?"
"Yes, I graduated from Ionia Academy. It's not a core city in the US, but it's a place where rich people gather. You haven't heard of it? My dad works with Wall Street in finance, and I myself work at Goldman Sachs. The main reason I was sent back this time is to find some funds in China to invest there."
finance?
This really touched on a blind spot in the two girls' knowledge; they didn't even know what finance actually did, they just thought the term sounded sophisticated.
"What is finance?" Yuanyuan asked.
"We mainly deal with stocks and funds, including short-term stock trading, risk hedging, market risk assessment, and company listings. Our funds include money market funds, international bonds, and corporate bonds, which are divided into high-risk and low-risk funds, but we focus more on mixed funds," Lu Feng explained.
The two nodded as if they understood, feeling that Lu Feng was indeed not an ordinary person, as they had never heard of these things before.
"Is Goldman Sachs a very wealthy investment bank?" Qianqian pressed.
They knew nothing about this place, but they just wanted to know if the man in front of them was a "rich young master." As long as he had money, they were willing to put in the effort to talk to him.
"Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest firms on Wall Street, don't you know that?" Lu Feng asked in surprise.
