A burst of laughter erupted in the private room. To them, Lu Feng's words were almost like a joke. In Ren Qianbo's eyes, the reason Lu Feng was able to make money was because he saw the rural market.
If I had seen it first, it wouldn't have been his problem. Now, with only a few cents in hand, he's trying to take over his headquarters. It's ridiculous.
Han Dong originally thought that Lu Feng was going to use the money to expand canned food production. Although the competition with Wan Yuan was fierce, there was still money to be made. He didn't expect that Lu Feng would actually enter the children's snack industry and go head-to-head with Ren Qianbo. Wasn't that courting death?
They're worth millions!
"Boss Lu, you want to make children's food?" Han Dong caught up and said, "I think we should stick to canned food. At least we're familiar with it. If we invest so much money and lose it, we'll be at a loss. And competing with Wanyuan Foods is really..."
Lu Feng stopped and looked at him with a smile, saying, "Scared?"
"In terms of actual conditions, we are no match for them at all." Han Dong racked his brains but couldn't understand where his confidence came from. They had market share and control over all major channels. Even if it came to a price war, they could crush these people with money.
Da Tou listened from the side and nodded repeatedly, thinking that Han Dong's words made sense. The conditions were all there, and everyone could see that the probability of success was too small.
Lu Feng smiled at their serious expressions and said, "According to you, as long as a company occupies the market and maintains stable product quality, it can rest easy?"
"Someone like Ren Qianbo doesn't deserve to be a factory owner!" Lu Feng said with a disdainful expression, shaking his head. "People like him are products of their time. The times made him. Others don't have the money to start a business, so the market gap is huge, and the probability of success is very high!"
"In my eyes, he is as fragile as a paper tiger."
"But...but your cannery was shut down by someone!" Big Head blurted out.
Han Dong nudged him quietly and whispered, "Boss Lu is just bragging, don't say anything!"
Lu Feng could tell that they didn't believe him. In this era where people had to ask others for directions before going on a long journey, many things were restricted.
"Trust me, taking him down won't be a problem at all." Lu Feng waved his hand and said, "Let's go check out that sugar factory."
The sugar factory, originally a state-owned enterprise, was among the first to undergo mixed ownership reform. Even those involved probably don't know the details of what happened back then, how many shares were held, or how many people were involved.
It had been closed for several years, leaving only a factory building and overgrown grass in the yard, looking quite desolate. This place was under the jurisdiction of the city's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and Han Dong happened to know a section chief who was in charge of this place.
"Who wants to rent this?" An elderly man in his fifties or sixties glanced at the three of them and then landed smoothly on the bicycle.
"Me! You've worked hard." Lu Feng hurriedly stuffed the cigarettes he had bought into his pocket. Dealing with people from these organizations was a matter of getting things done quickly, so spending a little money was no big deal.
"You're too kind. This place covers 160 acres. It used to be a sugar factory, but it went bankrupt. It has warehouses, factory buildings, offices, finance department, canteen, and everything else. It's all there." As he spoke, Section Chief Liang unlocked the rusty lock and said, "Let's go in and take a look."
It had been abandoned for two years, and the grass was as tall as a person. Lu Feng took a walk around and found it to be quite nice. Nothing in the office had been moved out. The old sofa, desk, chairs and everything else were still there. He also found a large pile of dried sugarcane in the storeroom.
"Section Chief Liang, are we paying by the year? Or..."
"Don't ask me, I'm in charge of this place. It'll definitely be rented out annually. It's such a big place, renting it out monthly would be a loss for me. Of course, if you have powerful connections, that's a different story, right?" Section Chief Liang gave him a knowing look.
"I wonder what the price is!" Lu Feng wanted to probe the price, or perhaps get to know someone through him and gain some unexpected benefits, but the other person didn't say anything more.
"How's it going? If it's suitable, come to our place to complete the formalities. By the way, what are you planning to do?"
"We do food processing, such as children's food and canned goods."
Section Chief Liang frowned slightly and looked at Lu Feng, asking, "Do you know Ren Qianbo?"
"Do you know him?" Lu Feng felt that this city was a bit small. He had just had lunch with him, and it seemed that he had run into an acquaintance again.
"Of course I know him. He's rich now and runs this kind of factory. Since you're young, let me tell you something: he's already made a fortune, and it's not easy for you to survive. You should do something else," Section Chief Liang suggested.
"That's probably difficult. What's your relationship with him?" Lu Feng asked, puzzled.
"About twenty years ago, we were in the same department at the Municipal Archives Bureau. The guy was alright looking and quick-witted. Our director's daughter was also in our department."
Da Tou and Han Dong listened with wide eyes, never expecting such a thing to happen.
"He must have seduced someone's daughter to get where he is today," Big Head said confidently.
"Yes and no. This guy is too ruthless. Back then, his family was well-off, and he was already engaged. After returning home, he broke off the engagement, pursued the director's daughter, and married into her family. Not long after marrying her, he quit his job and created Wanyuan Foods." Section Chief Liang smacked his lips, as if savoring his youth, and also as if regretting not pursuing the director's daughter back then.
Unexpectedly, Ren Qianbo is a live-in son-in-law, and now he has an ambiguous relationship with He Yanli. It's probably because his father-in-law is no longer able to work, otherwise he wouldn't dare to do it even if he had a lot of courage.
"I tend to talk too much when I'm talking. This is just the situation at the factory. You can see for yourselves." Section Chief Liang waved his hand and strode towards the door.
