Gao Zhiwei's face darkened. There were indeed people in the company better than him, and the company was developing rapidly. The reason he went to the north was to seize the market and increase his influence in the company.
As for Lu Feng's identity, he had no doubts. He had heard that the boss was in contact with big shots from abroad and was preparing to raise funds. There were too many overseas Chinese, foreign investors, and investors from Hong Kong and Taiwan these days.
"I don't know what your family does?" Gao Zhiwei asked politely.
"My family runs a small business. My dad partnered with someone on Wall Street to start a company that sells financial products and insurance!" Lu Feng said nonchalantly, as if it really was just a small business.
Financial products and insurance?
Is this what you call a small business?
“It’s a small business for someone like you. It’s fate that we met here. What project are you looking at?” Gao Zhiwei asked.
The others also looked on with curiosity.
“My hometown is here. My dad went to Guangzhou in 1957, then to Hong Kong the following year, and then to the United States in 1961. It’s not easy to start from scratch. You know, when Chinese people go there, they usually open Chinese restaurants. People, once they have money, become particularly attached to their hometown. My dad is like that. He always talks about his hometown. I came back to visit early!” Lu Feng sighed as he spoke, with a sense of the vicissitudes of life.
"No matter where you go, you must never forget your roots!" someone nearby said.
"Yes, it is because of these patriotic people that we have been able to develop."
"After all, we're not from another country; we're all descendants of Yan and Huang."
"Are you planning to stay in the country?" Gao Zhiwei inquired.
“My father wants me to stay in China, but I really don’t know what to do. After listening to your boss’s phone call, I’ve become interested in the food industry. I’m currently doing some research and will give it a try. It’s my first time starting a business, so even if I fail, I’m not afraid. Losing ten or twenty million is nothing,” Lu Feng said nonchalantly.
"Ten or twenty million?" someone stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
"Isn't this too much?"
"A lot?" Lu Feng looked indifferent to money, smiled and said, "If we're going to do it, let's do it the biggest. Let's set a small goal first, and earn a hundred million."
Han Dong and Da Tou had their heads practically pressed against the plate, too afraid to lift them up, lest they burst out laughing.
In their eyes, Lu Feng was truly a master actor. The two even felt that he had chosen the wrong profession, as he could boast without blushing and effortlessly recount various details, making it sound like the truth.
“However, I don’t have many connections in China, Mr. Gao. If you have any suitable people, could you introduce me? Salary and benefits are not a problem.” Lu Feng extended his hand and said, “Thank you!”
Gao Zhiwei and his group were already somewhat dazed. Looking at Lu Feng, they felt like a pie had fallen from the sky. They had heard too many stories like this: meeting a big shot by chance while eating and suddenly rising in life; or accidentally meeting an ordinary person only to have the other party reveal their identity as a big shot.
This kind of thing has now hit Gao Zhiwei like this, leaving him somewhat dizzy.
"What is your surname?" Gao Zhiwei realized he didn't know the other person's name.
"My surname is Lu, and my English name is Jason Lu!" Lu Feng introduced himself.
When Da Tou heard the English name, he couldn't help but burst out laughing. He quickly stopped himself, as if he had something stuck in his throat, and it took him a long time to choke on his words.
"Jenny, what's wrong?" Lu Feng stared at Da Tou with an unfriendly expression. Da Tou immediately waved his hand to indicate his apology. Lu Feng turned around and said, "This is Jenny, my personal butler, and that is Claude, his bodyguard and driver."
"Hello." Gao Zhiwei greeted them, and he seemed a little excited. He looked at Lu Feng and said, "If I have a suitable candidate, I don't know how to contact you."
"I just got back to China, and my business cards from abroad are no longer valid. I'll come to your hotel in five days."
After Lu Feng finished speaking, he looked at Da Tou and Han Dong and said, "Jenny, Claude, have you finished eating?"
"Yay! Yay!"
The two nodded hurriedly to cooperate with Lu Feng. Han Dong was still a little awkward, but Da Tou remained calm and composed, after all, he had cooperated with Lu Feng several times before.
"See you later!" Lu Feng stood up and waved.
“Mr. Lu, I’m not staying at Tianyue, I’m staying at the Regent Hotel across the street.”
"Okay, got it." Lu Feng walked over to the waiter, packed some more tea and snacks, and then slowly walked out the door with the things in his hands.
As soon as they stepped out the door, Han Dong and Da Tou breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Lu Feng, saying, "Brother Feng, why are you talking about all that? It has nothing to do with us."
"Yeah, you were originally looking for Ren Qianbo's wife. Now that the matter is done, why are you telling her all that stuff?" Han Dong muttered under his breath. "If I didn't know your background, I would have believed your lies."
“That Gao Zhiwei is a talented person, I want to recruit him,” Lu Feng said casually.
"Huh? How do you know he's a talented person?" Han Dong asked, puzzled.
Lu Feng didn't know how to answer. He couldn't very well tell him that he not only knew Lu Feng was talented, but also that Wahaha would be incredibly successful in the future. He could only laugh it off and say it was just a gut feeling.
At 9:30 p.m., at a small villa on the outskirts of the city, the sounds of arguing and smashing could be heard continuously.
"Ren Qianbo, have you no shame? You'd even take a widow? You really have no taste!"
"What's it to you? Let's each live our own lives. If you can't handle it, then get lost."
"Get out of here now? You think you're all grown up? If it weren't for my father, you'd be nothing but a live-in son-in-law."
"Fuck you!"
Screams, curses, cries, and roars rose and fell. To outsiders, Ren Qianbo was rich, glamorous, and very happy. But happiness is something that only he himself knows.
Lu Feng parked his car at Lao San's house and was about to go upstairs when he saw Wu Hongyu squatting at the door smoking. When Wu Hongyu looked at Lu Feng, there was a hint of resentment in his eyes.
