Tonight's dinner party was a bit special. We invited President Xu to accompany us, but not Tian Jun. There were also two women, who looked to be in their thirties or forties, and were definitely the kind of women who were good at drinking with others.
Lu Feng pushed open the door and entered the private room. Hao Dongren did not seem surprised by Lu Feng's arrival and said, "Mr. Lu, you've arrived quite early. Please have a seat. Vice Mayor Liu will be here soon."
"This must be President Lu, right? He's so young!" The woman next to him quickly stood up and greeted him politely.
Lu Feng shook hands with the woman in front of him, feeling that she was quite eloquent. Judging from her appearance, she must have been a beauty in her twenties, but unfortunately, she had gained a little weight. With her upturned lips, she kept praising the woman and chatted back and forth with the woman next to her. In just a few words, she had enlivened the atmosphere of the scene.
"I am the general manager of Kaito Entertainment. My surname is Wu. If you don't mind, you can call me Sister Wu."
Lu Feng smiled and agreed, then looked at Hao Dongren and said, "President Hao, you really have a lot of talented people under your command. Sister Wu's silver tongue can definitely talk a dead person back to life."
"Your sister Wu is mainly good with words," the woman next to her said.
"Why are you saying such vulgar things?"
Everyone present laughed, and Lu Feng sat there laughing too. The two women were like a comedian, saying some vulgar things, but that's what was common at the dinner party.
The 1990s was an era of polarization, with conservative women like Jiang Xiaoyan and extremely open-minded women. Sometimes, during a dinner party, clothes would disappear without a trace, leaving onlookers speechless, yet this was a true story.
As they were talking, the door to the private room was pushed open again, and Liu Quan stepped in. President Xu and Hao Dongren quickly stood up.
"I'm so glad you could come. Please take a seat," Hao Dongren greeted him.
Ms. Wu, who was standing next to him, glanced at him and said, "Vice Mayor Liu looks like a cultured person. I've met quite a few officials, but this is the first time I've seen one so refined."
"I wouldn't presume to call myself refined, but I have attended school for a couple of days," Liu Quan said calmly.
"Take Luohu District for example, it's really well done now. It used to be a mess. I thought it was all thanks to District Chief Hu, but then I realized he wasn't very capable. But after seeing you today, I know why." Sister Wu sat down and said, "When a refined person is in charge of a place, that place becomes elegant."
"That makes some sense." Liu Quan smiled, clearly appreciating the compliment, and casually asked Lu Feng, "Why did you come here too?"
"I'm here to eat." Lu Feng said, tidying up the mess of plates, dishes, and teacups in front of him. "My wife isn't here, so I'm all alone. I just wanted to find a place to eat."
"Well, we've come to the right place. I'm here to eat too," Liu Quan said casually.
Seeing that things were getting a bit out of hand, Sister Wu started a conversation with the woman next to her, and they also dragged in President Hao and President Xu. They joked and laughed as they pleased.
Lu Feng had to admit that this was the most enjoyable meal he had ever had. Sister Wu always managed to create a lively atmosphere, allowing everyone present to immerse themselves in the experience and find their place.
This ability is innate; it requires grasping the atmosphere and temperature of the situation. If the temperature is too high, some people may overdo it and offend the leader; if the temperature is too low, the leader will be unhappy.
After several rounds of drinks and dishes, Sister Wu spontaneously performed a section of "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy," bringing the atmosphere to a climax. Liu Quan even stood up and sang a couple of lines. Whether it sounded good or not was unimportant; the key was to applaud.
"I must apologize to President Lu. Through this dinner, I've gotten to know you. Although we're not in the same industry, you can come to me if you have any problems in the future!" President Xu stood up, reeking of alcohol. He held a glass of liquor in one hand and a lit cigarette between his fingers, while extending his other hand to shake hands.
"Will you give me that kind of face?"
"Here, here, here!" Seeing that he was a little drunk, Lu Feng reached out and shook his hand, saying, "That was about Tian Jun, it's all in the past!"
"I just had a drink with Mayor Liu, so I'll just have a sip this time!" President Xu took a small sip.
Liu Quan let out a burp and looked at Lu Feng, asking, "Mr. Lu, what's your decision?"
"This is such a big matter, it can't be decided in a day or two. I'll definitely let you know as soon as I have any news," Lu Feng said evasively.
Hao Dongren kept whispering in Liu Quan's ear, and the two of them were talking about something. Lu Feng wasn't paying attention to them; he was just there for dinner tonight.
Hao Dongren used his name to give Liu Quan a way out, so that both of them could save face.
Even Wu Jie, a hostess at the dinner party, treated Lu Feng as indifferent. In her eyes, Lu Feng was just a supporting character at the dinner table. She had attended many dinner parties and had never misjudged him. Such people were usually insignificant, given the opportunity to attend a dinner party, they were just human eating machines.
Looking at the time, it was almost 10 p.m. Hao Dongren and Liu Quan kept whispering to each other, while Lu Feng had already finished eating and didn't want to wait any longer. He stood up and said, "Something suddenly came up, so I won't stay any longer. You guys take your time eating."
Hao Dongren stood up, exchanged a few polite words, and said nothing more. When he left, even someone as important as Sister Wu didn't come to see him off, which showed how unimportant Lu Feng was in their eyes.
After going downstairs, Lu Feng didn't care and drove home.
The following afternoon, Lu Feng went to the airport to pick up Jiang Xiaoyan and brought her back. On the way, they talked about the changes in their family. Now the whole family had moved into the city and bought a staff apartment that couldn't be transferred to their name, so they could finally live in an apartment building.
"Did Duoduo cry?" Lu Feng asked.
