Chapter 392 Arrival!

Lu Feng took a look at her hand. There were no calluses on her palms, and some chalk dust could be seen between her fingernails.

Bai Meihua pursed her lips, glanced at Lu Feng discreetly, and whispered, "How is it?"

"Forehead........."

Lu Feng pondered for a moment.

"He just wanted to be a pervert and touch your hand," the middle-aged man next to him joked.

"Hmph, stealing money is one thing, but trying to steal a person too, how despicable!" someone muttered.

"It's clear that your fate has changed this year. Your journey to another place hasn't been smooth, and it's not over yet. Your cousin might not be able to help you," Lu Feng said seriously.

"Huh?" Bai Meihua was a little confused and asked, "Then what should we do?"

What does your cousin do?

"She said she works as a waitress, serving people, and if you put in the effort, you can earn a lot."

Lu Feng nodded slightly. How much money can a waiter earn? Dongguan is just starting out. Although some industries haven't become the city's calling card, this kind of thing is becoming more and more common in big cities.

"How's my luck with money?" Bai Meihua sighed helplessly. "I also feel that this trip was not easy. If my dad hadn't been hospitalized and needed money, I wouldn't have come out."

"What happened to your dad?" Lu Feng asked.

"My lumbar spine is bad, and it's all due to overwork!" Bai Meihua choked up as she spoke.

Lu Feng offered a few words of comfort. The uncle and aunt across from him suggested some folk remedies that they could try when they got back. It was already late at night, but the train was still rumbling forward. The scheduled arrival time was around 4 a.m., but delays were quite common for trains these days.

The flight attendant just told me that we probably won't arrive until 7 a.m. tomorrow.

Although some people were trying to stay awake, they couldn't hold on any longer and were drooping their eyelids. Lu Feng comforted Bai Meihua for a few words and then let out a long yawn.

The man diagonally opposite hadn't appeared and probably wouldn't be in the carriage again. The middle-aged man opposite him stood up and said, "Young man, want a cigarette?"

Lu Feng nodded and stood up. When he reached the connecting area between the carriages, the uncle handed him a Hongmei cigarette. Lu Feng lit it, took a puff, and found it a bit spicy. He coughed twice and looked at the night sky outside the doors and windows.

"Young man, you don't look like an ordinary person."

"Everyone in the world is an ordinary person, just a commoner," Lu Feng said casually.

"Our money was stolen, and we don't know where to go after we got off the bus. Those people who made things difficult for you must be thieves, right?"

"Yes, it's another group."

"Are you another thief?"

Lu Feng didn't say anything, turned around and stared at the uncle, looking him up and down. The man seemed a little uncomfortable under his gaze, and smiled, saying, "My money was stolen, I was just having wild suspicions, don't take it to heart."

"Uncle, what do you do for a living?"

"You do everything on the construction site—twisting steel bars, mixing cement, applying mortar—it's just manual labor." The man said, puffing on a cigarette and grinning, revealing a mouthful of yellowed teeth.

"Let me read your palm too!" Lu Feng said, reaching out to grab his hand. The calluses on the middle joint of his index finger were very thick, and there were also calluses on his middle finger, though not as many. His palm was smooth as jade, almost like a white plum blossom.

The middle-aged man stared at Lu Feng and asked, "How is it?"

"Uncle, your palm reading isn't very good. You should be doing unconventional work, not manual labor."

Lu Feng could feel that the other person's hand visibly trembled when he mentioned the word "unorthodox methods".

"Fortune telling requires skill and experience. You're so young, your skills are too shallow." The uncle withdrew his hand, chuckled, and said, "These are all superstitions, you can't believe them."

The two fell silent, each leaning against the car and smoking silently, their minds in turmoil.

Lu Feng took a drag of his cigarette, stared at him, and said in a deep voice, "This is the first time I've ever been a thief in my life."

His gaze was somewhat puzzled, but it sharpened in the next moment as he shouted, "So it was you who stole the money. Give me my money back!"

"This is the first time I've ever heard of someone crying 'stop thief' while being called a thief. I don't want to get involved in anything else. Just hand over Bai Meihua's wallet." Lu Feng stared intently at him.

"You're accusing me of stealing money? I'm just an honest worker, and you actually suspect me of stealing money?"

“You’re definitely not a construction worker. I’ve heard a bit about theft. I don’t want to get involved in your own business, but stealing from a young girl is just too unethical. And you’re trying to pin this on me. You’ve messed with the wrong person!” Lu Feng said in a deep voice, “That guy in the old leather jacket is part of a gang. He goes to the toilet every now and then and throws the filth out of the toilet window. They set up checkpoints along the way, and people pick up the thrown packages at those points. They steal the money and then move it off the train. They’re not afraid of police checks at all. What about you?”

The man's expression changed drastically, his eyes hardened, and he raised his hand towards Lu Feng's neck.

Lu Feng had been on guard against him all along. He grabbed his cotton coat and held it up to his neck. A thin thread tore through the coat but was covered by the cotton inside.

"Oh ho, you're from the Dongfang Bubai faction, huh?" Lu Feng sneered. "You've been practicing this technique for quite a few years, haven't you? Aside from this technique, at your age, can you even beat me?"

"What are you two doing?" Bai Meihua walked over and asked the two of them.

The uncle's face instantly returned to a kind and friendly smile, and he patted Lu Feng's clothes, saying, "His clothes are torn."

"It's such a waste to throw away clothes I just bought," Bai Meihua said as she walked into the bathroom.

"I didn't expect you to be crossing this line too!"

"I'm not a thief!"

"You know so much? You're not a thief? That woman must be your accomplice, right? Let's all rely on our own abilities. Don't ruin my livelihood, or don't blame me for being ruthless!" After saying that, the uncle glared fiercely at Lu Feng, threw his cigarette butt on the ground, and went back inside.
