Several trains pulled into the station at the same time, and the flow of people was exceptionally large. Lu Feng chased after them but couldn't find them anymore. All around him were middle-aged men carrying woven bags.
He stopped and looked around, but couldn't find anyone. Looking at Bai Meihua, Lu Feng sighed helplessly.
"Are you looking for an older man?" Bai Meihua pointed to the two people walking past and said, "Aren't they over there?"
Lu Feng looked in the direction she was pointing and saw the two of them walking briskly forward, carrying woven bags in their arms. They looked very relaxed and were all smiles.
"What do you need the uncle for? Did they leave something behind? I'll call for you."
"Don't shout!"
"Get ready to look for your things!"
Lu Feng followed, reached into his pocket, found the craft knife, and pulled it out from behind the uncle, slicing the bottom of the woven bag.
The knife was exceptionally sharp, and it cleanly ripped open a slit, from which a bag fell out, followed by a cascade of wallets, watches, gold earrings, and other valuables scattered all over the floor.
This sudden scene startled the people around, and many people stopped to watch. The uncle turned his head and glanced at Lu Feng, his eyes filled with malice. The aunt next to him pulled him away, and the two of them quickly walked outside.
You dropped something!
"Isn't this my lost wallet?" Someone started rummaging through their wallet, only to find it had been gone for a long time. They picked up the wallet from the ground, and it was indeed theirs.
Seeing this, the others began to identify their own belongings. Bai Meihua stood there dumbfounded. Now that things had come to this, how could she not understand what had happened? She just couldn't believe it.
Realizing what had happened, I hurriedly looked for my things, but after searching for a long time, I returned empty-handed.
"Didn't find it?" Lu Feng asked.
Bai Meihua shook her head, completely lost and anxious, her eyes reddening. She didn't know where to go after leaving the train station.
Seeing her like this, Lu Feng couldn't just leave her at the train station, so he said, "Let's get off the train first and find a place to eat."
The two headed towards the exit, where a large crowd had gathered. Police had already arrived, as had the bearded man in the old leather jacket. Lu Feng was nowhere to be seen, but witnesses said it was a young man who did it.
They got away!
"You can run away from the monk, but you can't hide from the temple. I've never heard of this person before, I'll have to find out more about him."
"It seems like there are quite a few people in the gang."
"So what if there are many? Who have we ever been afraid of?"
Outside the train station, Lu Feng looked around but couldn't find anyone to pick him up. There was a ramen shop next door, so he ordered two bowls of ramen, sat down, and looked at the white plum blossoms across the street. The past ten-odd hours felt like a dream!
The steaming hot noodles were served, and Lu Feng said to Bai Meihua, "Eat up. Do you know your cousin's address?"
"I don't know. She said to call her when she arrived and come pick me up at the station." Bai Meihua picked up her chopsticks and said, "Thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you."
“We’ve been through thick and thin together. This is your first time on a train, and it’s my first time on a train too.” Lu Feng ate his noodles in big mouthfuls. The piping hot noodles warmed him up, and he felt much more energetic.
After finishing his meal, Lu Feng looked at the people coming and going outside. Some people were smoking, some were sitting on their luggage with their heads down, and others were asking questions and looking for the exit. This world is sometimes real and sometimes so unreal.
"Won't they cause you trouble?" Bai Meihua suddenly became worried and said, "I heard from my relatives that the thieves on the train are all in gangs, stealing and robbing."
"It's alright. I feel like I've already offended half the thieves in Dongguan. I'm not afraid of being bitten by a lot of lice," Lu Feng said nonchalantly.
"ah?"
Bai Meihua was a little dumbfounded.
Lu Feng originally thought of giving her some money so she could find a hotel to stay in temporarily and then buy a ticket home. But then he thought that the train station was a hotbed for these thieves, and it would be like a lamb entering a wolf's den for a young girl like her. He decided to help her to the end.
After finishing his meal, Lu Feng waited for more than ten minutes before he saw someone holding a sign at the exit that read "General Manager Lu of Jiafeng Electronics".
"Let's go!" Lu Feng said, standing up.
"Where...where are we going?"
Lu Feng patted the young man on the shoulder and asked, "What time did you tell me to pick me up?"
The young man turned around and saw Lu Feng. He paused for a moment and said, "It was four in the morning. I waited for more than an hour. I was so sleepy that I went back to my car and slept for a while. I'm sorry, Mr. Lu."
Seeing his tired look, Lu Feng waved his hand and said, "Never mind, let's go to the hotel first."
Once in the car, Bai Meihua sat there somewhat awkwardly. She knew Lu Feng was no ordinary person; you could tell from his clothes. But she felt he was even more formidable than she had imagined.
Dongguan is currently undergoing expansion. Two years ago, it merged with several counties and districts, was upgraded to a prefecture-level city, and enjoyed policy benefits. It then began to operate with massive debt. In the past two years, in addition to attracting investment, the main focus has been on expanding roads and connecting more railway lines. A new railway station is about to be completed.
Walking from the train station towards the city center, you can see construction sites all along the way, with all kinds of infrastructure projects underway.
Lu Feng looked out the car window at the vast wilderness. If he remembered correctly, in twenty years, this place would be incredibly valuable, with various central plazas standing tall.
"What's the team leader's name?" Lu Feng asked.
"His surname is Ye, and we all call him General Manager Ye."
Do you know the agreed meeting time?
"With whom?"
"It must be a city leader. What? Do I need an appointment to meet with this guy surnamed Ye?"
"Oh, I don't know about that."
