"More people, more food!"
"These are not the most important things; there are things more important than these."
Is it still important?
Feng Zhiyao was taken aback.
"A just cause!" Lu Feng opened his eyes and said in a low voice, "For example, to support the Han Dynasty, to be a descendant of the royal family, or to be ordained by Heaven. Before going to war, one must consult the oracle. In fact, many people know that this is superstition, but one needs something to justify one's actions, otherwise one is considered a traitor."
Feng Zhiyao seemed to have figured something out, and he parked the car at the entrance of the municipal government building.
Lu Feng got out of the car and saw several security guards pacing back and forth at the entrance. He walked up to them and was stopped by one of them who asked, "What are you doing?"
"I'm looking for someone from the forestry department!" Lu Feng said politely to the security guard. "I'm from Gouzi Village. This is my cousin. My name is Datou, and his name is Ertou. He worked for the forestry department at the beginning of last year, and he still hasn't been paid."
"Then go to the Forestry Bureau, what are you doing here?"
“I don’t know either. We went to the Forestry Bureau, and they directed us here, saying we were looking for a leader. I know people, so I came here to try and pull some strings,” Lu Feng said with a smile.
"Yes, yes, what's your name?" the security guard asked, sizing up the two. "What's your real name?"
"You're still asking that?"
"They gave instructions that we're not allowed to invite Lu Feng in anytime recently."
"My name is Zhang Zhiming, and his name is Zhang Zhipeng. We're just looking for a leader to make an exception for us. Thank you," Lu Feng said politely.
The security guard waved his hand, glanced at the two of them again, and let them in even though they didn't have cigarettes.
Lu Feng strode inside, and Feng Zhiyao jogged after him, whispering, "Brother Feng, these people seem even more arrogant than the leaders. They kept looking into my pockets."
"I forgot to buy cigarettes, but it's okay."
Lu Feng went into the lobby and asked around. He went straight to the third floor, stood at the office door, and knocked for a long time, but no one was inside. The office door next to him opened, and a man in his thirties, wearing a white shirt, came out. He looked somewhat domineering.
"What are you doing? Don't you even know whose office this is? Why are you banging on it like that?"
"We're looking for Mayor Wang."
"Not here!" The man waved his hand, his face full of impatience. "Go away, go away! Just because you come looking for me doesn't mean I have to be there! Hurry up and leave!"
"What kind of attitude is that...?"
"What's wrong?" The man's tone suddenly hardened.
"It's alright, it's alright!" Lu Feng grabbed Feng Zhiyao and said to the man, "We'll leave in a bit."
The man entered the office, and Feng Zhiyao said unhappily, "He's likely to get beaten up for talking like that, you know?"
“But people talk like that and they don’t get beaten up. We don’t need to give face to the city government now, and the city government won’t give us face either. Once you come in through this door, you’re already three feet lower, understand?” Lu Feng patted his shoulder and said, “No one is invincible and everyone gives face to them.”
"But we can't even see anyone!" Feng Zhiyao could no longer contain his emotions.
"How will you handle this in Hong Kong?" Lu Feng asked.
“Back home, we just call them and they come to my house. That’s what my dad does.” Feng Zhiyao leaned against the wall, looking at the mottled stairwell, and muttered, “There’s not even a chair.”
“I’ll put a chair here for you. Do you believe someone will bring their luggage and sleep here?” Lu Feng looked at him and said, “You can come over with just a phone call over there because your family is rich and powerful. When I was in Suzhou, Huang Youwei even treated me to breakfast and chased me around like a leech. Things are different now.”
Feng Zhiyao had never encountered such a frustrating situation before, and his face was full of displeasure.
"What we need now is to surround and intercept him. If we can stop him just once, that will be enough." Lu Feng looked around at the various exits.
The office door next door opened again, and a man came out carrying a thermos. Seeing that Lu Feng was still there, he said impatiently, "Didn't we tell you to leave? What are you doing hanging around here? If we can handle it for you, we will. If we can't, blocking the way won't help. Get out!"
"Let's leave now. I know you'll get scolded if the leaders see us like this, but don't worry," Lu Feng said politely.
"Good to know, please be understanding, let's go!"
Lu Feng reached out and pulled Feng Zhiyao outside. There were flower beds outside, and Lu Feng strolled around the flower beds, looking around. He walked to a corner and began to unbuckle his belt.
Seeing him walk over, Feng Zhiyao followed and asked, "Brother Feng, what's wrong?"
"Pee!!" Lu Feng glanced at him and said, "Can you step back a bit?"
Feng Zhiyao walked to the side with an embarrassed look on his face. Just as Lu Feng was enjoying his water, he looked up and saw an office in front of him, with a woman in her forties sitting by the window looking at him.
She opened the window, splashed the water from her glass out, and yelled, "Shameless!"
After saying that, he drew the curtains.
Lu Feng was so busy looking around that he didn't notice he was facing a window. He quickly pulled up his pants and coughed to cover up his embarrassment.
